Virgil L Griffin was leader of "CLEVELAND Knights of..."^[1] ...nothing in newspapers about him leading the national KKK (the actual "Knights of the KKK"). Similar LOCAL groups were simultaneously led by Daniel Carver (INVISIBLE EMPIRE Knights of...)^[2] & others). Therefore: If people think these regional leaders after the national org dissolved aren't noteworthy, then don't list any; but if you think it is noteworthy, they all should be listed, but it WILL be a list so long that it absolutely eclipses the length of the current list (of national leaders). I moved Virgil's name to this page because it is misleading to list him with the previous NATIONAL leaders...especially when not listing the regional leaders who served at the same time as Virgil, or at least making it clear that Virgil didn't lead a national group which just had its seat of power based in IL, and that 1987 was the year that the national org dissolved into regional bases. I thought I had added the cite for Daniel Carver (woops), but Fences and Windows should have removed the uncited reference to Virgil, too, if removing the uncited one to Daniel Carver (I now have a citation for Daniel Carver, copied above: It was simple as looking at the 1st paragraph of the Daniel Carver article I'd linked to)).

Most postwar Klan organizations and their leaders are historically irrelevant. The likes of Virgil Griffin shouldn't be mentioned unless the hundreds of other self-proclaimed Wizards and Dragons are as well. I question subsuming the title "Grand Dragon" within "Grand Wizard." The 20th Century (and after) Klan used the term Grand Dragon. So far as I know, several of the people listed in this article were never called "Grand Wizard." This article should reflect that. It also conflates Imperial Wizard with Grand Wizard. The Imperial Wizard was/is the top national Klan leader, and the Grand Wizard was/is the leader of a state chapter. Nicmart (talk) 01:29, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

A Grand Dragon (not Grand Wizard) is the leader of a state chapter. Most postwar national Klan leaders have called themselves Imperial Wizard, but not all. David Duke, for example, used Grand Wizard. The biggest problem surrounding this issue is the fact that since 1945, virtually anyone could organize a group and call it a Klan. Nathan Bedford Forrest is listed in the list of Grand Wizards and Imperial Wizards of the Ku Klux Klan as {{Grand Wizards of the Ku Klux Klan}} but he is not listed in this article. Peaceray (talk) 17:08, 18 February 2022 (UTC)

Does the KKK even organise in Britain? The claim about 'imperial wizards' there is unreffed. Britain has plenty of its own racist rightwing nutcases, but the KKK is generally regarded as a sinister joke there. British and American racist politics are very different.
