Darb el-Hajj needs own article

Discussion opened at Talk:History of Hajj#Darb el-Hajj needs own article + more info here, please contribute there. The Darb el-Hajj/darb al-hajj (red links introduced) is a major topic, hardly touched upon! Arminden (talk) 15:44, 4 February 2024 (UTC)

Light article

I'm no expert on the subject, but it seems this article is very light on details despite the Hajj being a huge and significant event. I'm here after another deadly incident this time due to heat, but there's only a short section about crowd-control problems that deals with the tragic and recurring issue of mass casualties at the Hajj. 2A0D:6FC0:B01:A400:241E:6E3F:5783:AC2F (talk) 07:50, 23 June 2024 (UTC)

Hajj al-akabr

Hajj al-Akbar, meaning "the Greater Hajj", refers to when the Day of Arafah falls on a Friday. Waleed4251 (talk) 08:11, 28 June 2025 (UTC)

@Waleed4251That is not accurate. Every Hajj is Hajj Akbar while every Umrah is Hajj Asghar (the lesser Hajj). J.Walker610 (talk) 18:44, 16 July 2025 (UTC)
@J.Walker610 You are right in noting that Hajj is greater than Umrah. But, the specific term Hajj al-Akbar is used when the Day of Arafah (9th of Dhul Hijjah) falls on a Friday, this view is supported by many islamic scholars.
Also, it's worth clarifying that Hajj and Umrah are two separate acts of worship
Umrah is not obligatory, can be done any time of the year, and has fewer rituals than Hajj. But Hajj is obligatory once in a lifetime (for those who are able) and can only be performed during specific days of the Islamic month of Dhul-Hijjah. Waleed4251 (talk) 05:34, 17 July 2025 (UTC)
Abu Dawud narrated from Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood up on the day of Sacrifice during the Hajj that he performed and said: “What day is this?” They said, “the Day of Sacrifice.” He said, “This is the greatest day of Hajj.” (Sunan Abi Dawud) J.Walker610 (talk) 10:55, 18 July 2025 (UTC)

Dates for the month of Dhu al-Hajj 2027 are wrong

In the 2nd paragraph it says "in 2027 AD (1448 AH), Dhu al-Hijjah will extend from 24 May to 22 June." These dates are wrong. They'll be approximately be from 8 May to 6 June.
