Everyone's talking about "iOS 26", when iOS 19 is not out yet.
I have seen such news articles and videos online talking about "iOS 26", when iOS 19 is scheduled to be announced on June 9, 2025. Any honest opinions about this?
Thanks! AptiveViennaPro (chat with me) 10:22, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
iOS 19 is scheduled to be announced on June 9, 2025
[citation needed].- It is likely, based on what has happened at past WWDCs, that Apple will announce new major versions of their OSes on 2025-06-09, although it's not guaranteed that they will.
- Some people expect Apple to just add 1 to the version numbers of the current OS versions, as they've done for the past several years, in which case the new iOS release would be "iOS 19".
- Some people apparently expect Apple to switch to a new numbering system using the last two digits of the year after the OS is released, in which case the new iOS release would be "iOS 26".
- And at least one person, such as the person replying here to your comment, wonders whether, if they're going to go with a year-based numbering system as has been rumored, they're going to avoid a Y2.1K problem, and avoid "hey, wait, they jumped from {18,15,11,2} to 26, what's that all about?" questions, by using the full year number, in which case the new iOS release would be "iOS 2026".
- Apple have, as far as I know, publicly stated absolutely nothing to support any of those claims. For macOS, Apple failed to follow the previous pattern when Big Sur came out - they decided that they no longer needed to hang onto the "10" part of the version number, so instead of going from macOS 10.15 to macOS 10.16, they went to macOS 11 - so it's not inconceivable that they'll make another change in version numbering.
- So, at this point, I see no reason to assume anyof those outcomes, including the one I've imagined - and, given WP:CRYSTAL, think Wikipedia articles should not make any firm statements about what Apple will do. Guy Harris (talk) 15:02, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
- And iOS 19 was not announced on June 9, 2025. iOS 26 was. Guy Harris (talk) 08:39, 10 June 2025 (UTC)

Just a small thing. iOS 17 last version is now 17.7.8. Couldn't upload screenshot from my computer as no account
Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Day Creature (talk) 16:53, 16 June 2025 (UTC)
- And also Not done because, while iPadOS 17 is up to 17.7.8, iOS 17 is only up to 17.7.2. There is no requirement that every iPadOS release have a corresponding iOS release, and vice versa. Guy Harris (talk) 23:27, 18 July 2025 (UTC)
Thank You for clarification.
The RC is real, thanks. My mistake, I saw beta 4 on devices but on the apple developer webpage, it’s real. Riskofspam (talk) 10:49, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
