Edit request (October 2025)
| This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest was declined. |
- What I think should be changed (include citations):
The excerpt: "Operating in various jurisdictions without proper authorization or licensing, IQ Option has faced fines, lawsuits, and bans. Regulatory authorities in countries like India, Australia, Cyprus, Brazil, and Indonesia have flagged the company's activities, ranging from non-compliance with financial regulations to alleged fraudulent practices."
- Why it should be changed:
The paragraph needs to be revised to reflect that while IQ Option has faced regulatory scrutiny in several jurisdictions, many of these actions pertained to licensing or procedural compliance rather than substantiated fraud. The current paragraph implies confirmed fraudulent conduct without acknowledging the remedial actions, compliance improvements, or lack of conclusive findings in several cases. A more balanced description would maintain neutrality and reflect verified outcomes across jurisdictions.

| Part of an edit requested by an editor with a conflict of interest has been implemented. Updated but in a somewhat different form to improve neutrality and information density |
- What I think should be changed (include citations):
Replace the current paragraph "Despite these developments, <...> into yet another jurisdiction." with: "In August 2023, the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) updated its Register of Crypto Asset Service Providers (CASPs), noting that IQ Option Europe LTD was no longer providing crypto-asset services and therefore was removed from the register in line with regulatory procedure[1][2]. Later that year, Quadcode Markets obtained a trading license in the Bahamas, further expanding its regulated operations [3]."
- Why it should be changed:
The proposed version presents the same verified facts in an objective manner, consistent with encyclopedic tone guidelines and reflects the official wording for a standard regulatory update. It removes unnecessary evaluative language while accurately reflecting CySEC’s official statement and maintaining factual context. EmiliaBOption (talk) 14:26, 13 October 2025 (UTC)

- What I think should be changed (include citations):
The paragraph stating that “In Indonesia, binary options, including those offered by IQ Option, are classified as a form of online gambling <...> operate in Southeast Asia.” could be removed.
- Why it should be changed:
It overemphasizes the company’s regulatory status in one country without context, giving undue weight (WP:UNDUE). It implies wrongdoing specific to IQ Option when the ban applied to all binary options platforms. The information is already covered in a broader section in the beginning on licensing and regulatory restrictions, making this paragraph redundant.

- What I think should be changed (include citations):
I would like to request the rewrite of the following paragraph from the IQ Option article: "Operating in various jurisdictions without proper authorization or licensing, IQ Option has faced fines, lawsuits, and bans. Regulatory authorities in countries like India, Australia, Cyprus, Brazil, and Indonesia have flagged the company's activities, ranging from non-compliance with financial regulations to alleged fraudulent practices." The suggested rewrite: "Regulatory authorities in several countries, including India, Australia, Cyprus, Brazil, and Indonesia, have reviewed or issued statements concerning IQ Option’s activities, mainly in relation to local registration or licensing requirements. The company continues to operate under licenses issued by authorities such as the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC)[1]."
- Why it should be changed:
The paragraph uses broad, unsourced, and potentially misleading phrasing. It implies systemic illegality or fraud without citing reliable, verifiable sources. Many of the cited actions related to licensing or procedural compliance, not proven fraudulent activity. Several of these matters were resolved cooperatively, and regulators such as CySEC and ASIC have publicly acknowledged remedial actions and compliance improvements by IQ Option. As currently written, the text could violate Wikipedia’s Neutral Point of View (NPOV) and Verifiability policies by presenting allegations without balanced context.

Not done. This amounts to a request to whitewash the article. 'Balanced' is the opposite of neutral editing, and we can't do that. See WP:FALSEBALANCE. - MrOllie (talk) 13:40, 21 November 2025 (UTC)
- @MrOllie Thank you for your attention to the request. Yet per WP:STRUCTURE, duplicating the "Controversy" section content in the lede creates "an apparent hierarchy of fact" that front-loads negative material, giving it undue prominence before basic operational information. The paragraph violates WP:BALASP by treating regulatory issues as the defining characteristic when they represent one aspect among many in reliable sources covering the company. The current opening paragraph violates WP:IMPARTIAL and WP:WORDS TO WATCH by leading with accusatory framing ("without proper authorization," "flagged the company's activities") that presents regulatory compliance matters as presumptive wrongdoing before providing any context. - What I think should be changed (include citations):
We request the modification of the text : “IQ Option is a binary options trading broker that also offers services in Forex, stocks, and cryptocurrencies. The company was founded in 2013. In 2017, IQ Option shifted its focus to CFDs and cryptocurrencies, though binary options remain a significant part of its operations in certain markets, particularly where regulations are less stringent.” to the following text: “IQ Option is an online trading platform that offers access to assets such as Forex, stocks, and cryptocurrencies. The company was founded in 2013 and later expanded its focus to include a broader range of CFD and cryptocurrency trading services.[1]”
- Why it should be changed:
The change is needed because IQ Option now functions more broadly as an online trading platform for multiple financial products, and highlighting binary options as a “significant part” of its operations may overemphasize one activity compared to how reliable sources describe the company. The original text also includes a claim about “less stringent regulations,” which cannot be supported or proven without sources, so it should be changed.

- Why it should be changed:

The original text also includes a claim about “less stringent regulations,” which is a subjective assumption and cannot be supported with sources, so it should be changed. The cited sources confirm shift of IQ Option as a online trading platform.
