  • Comment - Please include a link to the discussion or other instructions for what is to be done with Penn Foster so that the closer can close this. Otherwise this is just making a malplaced disambiguation page. Bensci54 (talk) 16:53, 31 March 2026 (UTC)
Here's a link to a discussion: Talk:Penn Foster College in the Proposal to merge the Penn Foster articles section. The instructions are as follows:
    1. Move the Penn Foster (disambiguation) article from /wiki/Penn_Foster to /wiki/Penn_Foster_(disambiguation).
    2. Per the consensus, the next step will be to merge the three articles, move the final article to /wiki/Penn_Foster, and redirect the "old" articles to the new article that lives at /wiki/Penn_Foster.

Why don't you just draft a WP:broad-concept article instead? Are the three existing topics not notable individually at all? --Joy (talk) 08:50, 6 April 2026 (UTC)
@Joy I wrote one broad article (Draft:Penn Foster), but that was declined multiple times because three Penn Fosters articles already exist. Given that, I'm aiming to follow that feedback by merging the overlapping articles, rather than continuing with new drafts. Happy to adjust if there's a better way to approach this. @Robert McClenon how should they proceed exactly, what did you mean there? Move the drafted article to Penn Foster Group? --Joy (talk) 09:44, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
@Robert McClenon@Joy I'll interject here to avoid overcomplicating this. There's already a consensus on the next steps:
  1. Move the current disambiguation page to Penn Foster (disambiguation),
  2. Merge the overlapping articles,
  3. Then, move the newly merged article to Penn Foster and redirect the others separate articles.
Adding something like a separate Penn Foster Group article at this stage would complicate things further rather than solve the overlap.
Seems like the cleanest path is to align on the existing consensus. DegreeDriven (talk) 14:23, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
The merge discussion had a single terse response, and it's been a month since, so there doesn't seem to be a huge amount of consensus. @Drmies is this still right? --Joy (talk) 15:19, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
@Joy I might be reading it differently, but I think it's important to note that it's not just that one discussion. There have been a few merge proposals over the years raising the same overlap issues, even if none drew much participation on their own. DegreeDriven (talk) 15:24, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
Joy, it took me a while to realize where I come in here--but I'm not sure I follow everything that's going on here. It seems to me that the merge is the first step; there's only one (terse) comment, that's true, so maybe the proposal ought to be advertised a bit better. When that's done, we can more easily discuss moving things. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 15:30, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
@Drmies Thanks for that insight. Just to ad a bit more context, I've posted the most recent merge proposals on each talk page of the three articles to make sure its visible in the right places. However, if there are additional places where that merge could sit please let me know.
@Joy Also, my understanding is that a merge doesn't require a formal consensus in the same way a move does, especially when there's clear overlap.
In the meantime, would it make sense to move forward with moving the disambiguation page to Penn Foster (disambiguation)? That part seems uncontroversial and would help reduce the current confusion while the merge discussion continues. DegreeDriven (talk) 16:14, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
