Voice sample caption

  • Please change the link in the voice sample caption from "Iran-Israel War" to "Twelve-Day War"
  • In the opening sentence, change "secretary of defense" to "secretary of war crimes". ~2026-79235-7 (talk) 18:26, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
Partly done
  • The Iran-Israel War wikilink went to a DAB page. I fixed it to link to Twelve-Day War as requested, with display text "2025 Iran-Israel War".
  • I did not change his title to "secretary of war crimes".

Change “United States secretary of defense” to “United States Secretary of Defense”. The job title is a proper noun and should be capitalized. Please consider using this phrasing as it includes the date in which he assumed office: “Since January 25, 2025 Hegseth has served as the 29th United States Secretary of Defense.” WriteRightRight (talk) 05:20, 26 March 2026 (UTC)

I think the current lower-case version comports with the Wikipedia style guide, which can be found at MOS:JOBTITLE. I personally find the rules to be a murky read, but that is how editors interpret them. -- M.boli (talk) 09:22, 26 March 2026 (UTC)
I sincerely appreciate you sharing that link and your considerate answer.
Based on the explanation and examples provided on the reference page, I maintain that the context in which the title is being used is as a proper noun and should be capitalized. I do understand and agree with you that this rule does leave some room for interpretation. WriteRightRight (talk) 13:10, 26 March 2026 (UTC)
Because "United States secretary of defense" is modified by "29th", it should be lowercase per MOS:JOBTITLES. —Eyer (he/him) If you reply, add {{reply to|Eyer}} to your message. 14:53, 26 March 2026 (UTC)

Replace outdated terminology “Department of Defense” with more current language, such as War Department or department of war. ~2026-11282-12 (talk) 02:47, 10 April 2026 (UTC)

  •  Not done: The decision to keep referring to the department as the Department of Defense rather than the Department of War is one that was established by consensus as a result of this discussion.

Good to know that Wiki consensus is superior to objective fact. Lol ~2026-23507-33 (talk) 18:35, 16 April 2026 (UTC)
I believe a large part of the reasoning behind the consensus was the objective fact that the department is still named the Department of Defense, as only Congress has the power to change its' name. On the other hand, the Secretary of Defense is able to alter the seal used by the Department of Defense, which is why the United States Department of Defense article shows a seal with the name Department of War on it. ⹃Maltazarian parleyinvestigate 18:54, 16 April 2026 (UTC)

Typo/grammar error:

"Multiple members of Congress are requesting in investigation into the DoD over..."

Obviously this should be, "... an investigation ..." I do not have the clearance, it seems, to fix it. CasualLurker (talk) 22:20, 10 April 2026 (UTC)

Corrected. Thank you. —Eyer (he/him) If you reply, add {{reply to|Eyer}} to your message. 22:23, 10 April 2026 (UTC)

Combat record

Hello, I am currently working on the French version of this article and one detail caught my attention. The section on Pete Hegseth’s military career is quite lengthy and detailed — including a list of his decorations — but I have the feeling that it doesn’t make it sufficiently clear that this “career” was spent entirely as a reservist, mostly in junior and administrative roles, far from the front lines. In short, and contrary to the image he likes to project of himself, Pete Hegseth apparently never saw combat in the strict sense of the term, and has never been appointed as officer. Several military sources underline this, such as here and there. However, I may be wrong, as I don't know much about military matters. Thanks for your insight, FredD (talk) 11:29, 11 April 2026 (UTC)

Medium is not a reliable source, per WP:MEDIUM, and the Military Times article is an opinion piece by two senators of an opposing party, which should be taken into account. —ADavidB 07:49, 13 April 2026 (UTC)

update to lede

Please update lede to reflect the mental retardation of article's subject. ~2026-23507-33 (talk) 18:32, 16 April 2026 (UTC)

Addition?

could someone add his latest Pulp Fiction blunder? Scientelensia (talk) 01:33, 17 April 2026 (UTC)

I did in Relgion: Personal Life. If anyone can find a published reference to Sandie Combat Search and Rescue actually having CSAR 25:17 as a prayer, that would help. What Hegseth said as reported by multiple publications may or may not be true. I am researching it as well. Starlighsky (talk) 20:57, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
Ah great, thanks! Scientelensia (talk) 22:36, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
