Roger Llewelyn DaviesRoger Davies (astrophysicist) — Easier to find under this name. I tried to create a new page with this heading but WP pointed out the duplication and asked me to do it this way. Thanks for your help. RoyalAstronomicalSociety (talk) 08:08, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

  • Oppose - WP:PRECISION, most people will search for Roger Davies and the dab will point here. --ZhongHan (Email) 08:21, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
  • Comment: My point was that when people search for Roger Davies, they will need to go to the disambiguation page to find the right person. At present, "Roger Davies (astrophysicist)" is not one of the offered choices. If you can ensure that "Roger Davies (astrophysicist)" pops up as one of the alternatives, then problem solved. Thanks. • Comment - I have edited Roger Davies (astrophysicist) to redirect to this article. Whether or not it is a plausible redirect remains to be discussed. --ZhongHan (Email) 09:14, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
  • Nope has dab, problem solved. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 09:49, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

  • What I think should be changed:
  • Why it should be changed:
  • References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button):

Please replace `He was President of the Royal Astronomical Society between 2010 and 2012[10] and President of the European Astronomical Society 2017–2024. '

with:

He is a Fellow of UCL (https://www.ucl.ac.uk/about/our-people/honorary-degrees-and-fellowships/list-honorary-fellows#2009), of the Royal Astronomical Society and of the Institute of Physics. He holds an honorary degree from University Claude Bernard in Lyon, France. He was President of the Royal Astronomical Society (https://ras.ac.uk/about-the-ras/79-general/766-past-ras-presidents) between 2010 and 2012 and President of the European Astronomical Society from 2017-24 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Astronomical_Society). Response

Done I have actioned this, broadly in line with the request which seems to be reasonable and made in the appropriate way. I have swapped out the suggested cite for the EAS presidency, as it was circular and Wikipedia can't source itself. I've added in cites for three elements that were uncited in the change request. I've also put some bluelinks in, e.g. AURA, for the benefit of a general readership. There is a slight issue as the EAS cite I've used doesn't give the 2024 end date, but I don't think it is major. Certainly the professor isn't president now. Obviously, a cite that did would be an improvement. I have also updated the IB and the EAS banner in External links to reflect the 2017-24 dates. thank you so much. I'm grateful for the improvements you have made.
A couple of points
(i) ref (12) that follows the Claude Bernard Hon degree is incorrect - it is an advert for a public talk in 2018. what you need is:
https://www.univ-lyon1.fr/universite/docteurs-honoris-causa
(ii) the only reference on the web I can find to the past presidents of the EAS is European Astronomical Society which you may feel you cannot use.
Thanks again for updating this. You all do a terrific job. best wishes, Roger RogerLDavies (talk) 10:53, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
Swapped the Claude Bernard citation as requested. Glad we could help. KJP1 (talk) 11:24, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
