In “Gubernatorial campaigns”, “2022 candidacy”, 3rd paragraph: “it was the largest margin of victory in a Florida gubernatorial election since 1982. Significantly, DeSantis won Miami-Dade County, which had been considered a Democratic stronghold and had last voted Republican in 2002, and Palm Beach County, which had not voted Republican since 1986.[140][141] Crist conceded the election shortly after DeSantis was projected as the winner.[142] At DeSantis's victory rally, supporters chanted "two more years" at various times rather than the common "four more years" to show support for DeSantis for president in 2024.[143]” Was duplicated. You are suggesting that DeSantis personally stole money. This incident may be DUE for this article; but it cannot be phrased in that manner. WP:BLP O3000, Ret. (talk) 15:08, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
This can go into the Governorship of Ron DeSantis if there's some additional sourcing and a clearer picture of what happened. It'll need a lot more coverage to justify being included on this article. Nemov (talk) 15:17, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
Yeah, there's some other sourcing. But none of it is clear enough at this point. O3000, Ret. (talk) 15:21, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
  • This scandal is mentioned on the governorship section. Seems like that's adequately covered there. Any mention here should remain brief until it's resolved there are more concrete details. Several paragraphs here, a series banner, and a mention in the lead is completely undue and borderline POV pushing. Thanks! Nemov (talk) 19:45, 4 August 2025 (UTC)
    • Rochambeau1783, is there a reason you’re not discussing this here? I'm having trouble understanding why you continue reverting the changes, especially given the lack of comment on this talk page. The notice you left on my talk page also seems unusual considering that there hasn’t been a discussion here first.
Regarding the current section in question: it appears to give undue weight to the topic. The material is already covered in detail at Governorship of Ron DeSantis, and repeating that level of detail here isn’t necessary. If there's consensus to include a brief summary, we can work on that collaboratively, but right now, it feels premature to include what are essentially just an investigation into allegations.
We’re not obligated to include every single reliably sourced criticism in a biographical article, especially when the material doesn’t rise above routine coverage. Let’s try to find common ground here before any further reverts. Thanks Nemov (talk) 00:31, 7 August 2025 (UTC)
  • I'll wait for another editor who is watching this article to chime in, but Rochambeau1783 continues to put this back into the article without attempting to discuss it here first or acknowledge my issues with it's inclusion. The editor has already been warned about edit warring and yet continues. - Nemov (talk) 20:35, 11 August 2025 (UTC)

DeSantis' $83 million property deal

DeSantis is in the news for his involvement arranging the $83 million purchase by Florida of property in Destin, Florida owned by Robert Guidry who previously pled guilty to bribing a former governor of Louisiana and is a big donor to various politicians in Louisiana and Florida including DeSantis (at least $250,000) and various Republican politicians in Okaloosa County (where the property is being purchased). Apparently Guidry skirts campaign finance laws by making numerous donations via his companies.

There's also involvement from state senator Jay Trumbull and a former Okaloosa County Commissioner who also served as executive director of the state attorney office. I started Draft:Robert J. Guidry and would be happy to have help with it.

Content regarding the donations to DeSantis, DeSantis removing a Destin city council member who was critical of Guidry's development plans in Destin, and the governor's ramrodding of the purchase with conservation funds targeted for other priorities should be included here. Relevant coverage should also be added to the Destin, Jay Trumbull, and Florida land preservation program entries. Thanks for any assistance. Here is one of the many articles about the property purchase and issues with it. FloridaArmy (talk) 15:32, 4 October 2025 (UTC)
