It is requested that an edit be made to the extended-confirmed-protected article at Sambandam. (edit · history · last · links · protection log) This template must be followed by a complete and specific description of the request, that is, specify what text should be removed and a verbatim copy of the text that should replace it. I would like to add the following paragraph to the article as I think it provides detail not already in the article (cloth color varying with caste, kurava cries, etc.) and complements the existing example from the north of Kerala.

A report in the 1904 Madras Mail^[1] covers a Nair Sambandam marriage between C V Raman Pillai's daughter, Gowrikutty Amma and A R Pillai. The report highlights the role of caste in determining the color of cloth used in the exchange ceremony and in determining the vessels allowed to be used. The report also notes the Kurava ululations that women engage in during the ceremonies. This particular instance is notable for its addition of customs rare for Sambandam weddings of the time - the presence of a ring with the cloth, the presence of European guests and the attire of the bride and bridegroom influenced by Western styles.
