GA review (see here for what the criteria are, and here for what they are not)

Looks good but i have a few questions before passing. This is my second review so i'll also ask for another look from an experienced reviewer

  1. It is reasonably well written.
a (prose, spelling, grammar, and understandability): b (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, and lists):
Looks fine, I've changed a couple of words
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable, as shown by a source spot-check.
a (reference section): b (inline citations to reliable sources): c (OR): d (copyvio and plagiarism):
I can't read Korean so spot checks are just the english sources. Checks placed below this table
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
    Mostly good, couple of questions

2013–2016: Formation, debut, and Love & Letter Promotions were immediately followed by their first concert tour, which included venues in South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, and Australia" should probably include the name of the tour

 Done

Musical style "With a desire to bring a new sound and style with each comeback, Seventeen has explored different genres in their music. However, despite the different genre shifts and experimental forms they take with their music, the group shares their goal is to be authentic and honest with the music they share." Would like examples of what genres they've explored

Done; I've added some genres and edited the sentence ("comeback" is K-pop jargon that I like to avoid).

Philanthropy "Since their debut in 2015, Seventeen celebrates their anniversary by donating to charitable causes. In 2017," Did they do anything noteworthy in 2015 or 2016?

Not that I'm aware, so I've adjusted it. I don't believe it is a strictly routine thing.

"Going Together" campaign and Goodwill Ambassadorship "In celebration of International Day of Education, on January 24, 2023, the Korean National Commission for UNESCO shared a new font inspired by Seventeen's mascot, Bongbongie, for a donation campaign running from January 24 to February 28." I’d like some context on the mascot. This is the only mention of it in the article. Do K-pop bands normally have mascots?

Not sure how to describe this one without getting promotional. Bongbongie is basically a character drawn by one of the members that has since recurred in merchandise and concerts. I can't find any actual reporting on it to add in to the prose, but for your information, yes K-pop groups will often have various mascots or characters similar in ways that sports teams will.
  1. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  2. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
Edited frequently, but seems to be routine improvement
  3. It is illustrated by images and other media, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free content have non-free use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
All captioned and under creative commons licenses
  4. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:
There's a few failed spot checks, mainly to do with release dates. should be easy fixes.

Spot checks

  • The name Seventeen is derived from the expression "13 members + 3 teams + 1 group", representing how the 13 members are divided into three different teams and come together to form one cohesive group Checked
  • The name refers to original plans to debut 17 total members. Checked
  • "stemming from the first consonants in each syllable of the word." Red XN Kind of an obvious origin, but it's not mentioned in the source. I'd just remove the phrase and keep the citation, as it does describe it as a common abbreviation
  • Named after the measurement unit for diamonds, it is a reference to their debut EP 17 Carat and its opening song "Shining Diamond". Checked
  • Three days later, Seventeen's first extended play (EP) 17 Carat was released digitally. Checked
  • "Seventeen became the only K-pop group on Billboard's "21 Under 21 2015: Music's Hottest Young Stars" list" Checked They are in fact the only K-pop band listed.
  • Seventeen's fourth EP Al1 was released on May 22. Red XN The exact date is not mentioned. I would just cite ITunes or Spotify or something here.
  • "It peaked at number one in South Korea and sold over 330,000 copies by the end of the year." Checked
  • "The group completed the Diamond Edge tour on October 6, which visited thirteen cities across Asia and North America." Checked Might be worth including when they started it.
  • "Seventeen released a repackage of Teen, Age on February 5, 2018, titled Director's Cut, featuring lead single "Thanks"." Checked
  • "Five days later, Time magazine included Seventeen on their list of the six best K-pop groups to know." Checked I've changed this to four days later
  • "Seventeen officially debuted in Japan on May 30 with their first Japanese EP We Make You" Checked
  • "They released their fifth Korean EP You Make My Day on July 16, with the lead single "Oh My!"." Checked
  • "Seventeen released their sixth EP You Made My Dawn on January 21, 2019." Checked
  • "ahead of their third studio album An Ode on September 16." Checked
  • "It was also named the best K-pop album of the year by Billboard." Checked
  • "and sold more than 400,000 copies in its first week, securing first place on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 Chart." Checked
  • "On October 19, Seventeen released their tenth EP, Semicolon, marketed as a "special album" with lead single "Home;Run"" Checked Changed it to eighth as it says it followed Heng:garae, which was 7th. I assume that's what it was meant to say.
  • "To promote the single, the group made their US television debut with a performance on The Late Late Show with James Corden." Checked
  • "On April 21, 2021, Seventeen released their third Japanese single, "Not Alone". Red XN The article cited was published April 19th. It doesn't mention an exact date. Was the music video released before the single?
  • "At the same time, they signed with Geffen Records and Universal Music Group for US and international distribution of their music" Checked
  • "Your Choice was released on June 18, alongside lead single "Ready to Love". Checked
  • "On July 19, Pledis Entertainment announced that all members of Seventeen had renewed their contracts." Checked
  • "On April 15, 2022, Seventeen released an English-language digital single titled "Darl+ing" ahead of their fourth studio album, Face the Sun. The album was released on May 27 with the lead single "Hot"." Checked Rolling Stone says it was released Thursday, which was the 26th. I've changed it to May 26
  • "On July 21 and 22, 2023, Seventeen held a two-day concert at the Gocheok Sky Dome to begin the Follow Tour." Checked
  • "In May 2025, the group was selected to be the first-ever global ambassador for South Korean food brand Bibigo under its "Taste What's Beyond" campaign." Checked
  • "In October, Seventeen announced a collaboration with The Smurfs with plans to release a "reimagined" music video for "God of Music" and a character merchandise collection based on the group's members." Checked
  • "The font, made available for download after a minimum donation of $1.50 to UNESCO, "reflects 6-year old Bongbong's newly-learned letters [and] symbolizes the importance of literacy and the joy of learning." Checked
Thank you for this thorough review, I have made edits for all your suggestions. For your reference, Korean language references are all in line with WP:KO/RS, the reliable sources within the Korean Wikiproject. Any further comments please let me know! orangesclub 🍊 10:32, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
Thanks, all changes look good, and failed spot checks have been resolved. This is only my second review, so I'll wait for input from an experienced reviewer before listing as a GA. It's on the list for the June backlog drive, so it shouldn't be waiting long EmergentAnarchy (talk) 11:33, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
No problem at all :) orangesclub 🍊 12:09, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
Review looks good. Earwig is not highlighting anything of concern. Here's my abbreviated review and a spotcheck of 25 references:

[24] can't immediately find anything about the release date being on the 29th, though the article was published on the 30th?
I have added an additional reference for the release date of the EP.
[60] same issue, the source simply says "this week"
The title for the source includes that it came out on Monday.
[46] appears to be dead
I have fixed that.
[204] I can't find anything about "dance synchronization"
The source mentions them being "in sync" but in the meantime I've added a few extra sources about their synchronization.
I'd appreciate if the nominator can address these four spotcheck concerns. Alexeyevitch(talk) 08:04, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
Thank you as well for this review. Happy to do address any other concerns you have in the meantime. orangesclub 🍊 09:11, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
@Alexeyevitch: If you have no other concerns, I'm happy to approve this as a GA EmergentAnarchy (talk) 14:05, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
I don't have any other concerns. You may pass it now. Alexeyevitch(talk) 00:01, 19 June 2026 (UTC)

Overall: Article was nominated for DYK within 7 days of reaching Good Article status. Article is properly cited, over 1,500 words in prose, and is written neutrally. Earwig reported an unlikely violation of 31.5%, which mostly comes from a quote that was properly attributed in the article. A QPQ is not needed at this time since the nominator has less than 5 nominations. I prefer ALT0. lullabying (talk) 06:54, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
