Hello, I saw you've been recently the main editor for the Aoi Shouta Wikipedia page. I hadn't opened it in a while, but recently I did and noticed his name is now listed as "Yanagawa Noboru". Although that has a source from 2004, him using the name in that festival in 2004 doesn't really make it any more official than the name he uses now and might as well have been just another alias. It's known that Aoi Shouta is just a stage name, but neither his agency or he ever came forward saying that Yanagawa Noboru is his actual name, so listing it as his birth name when not even the Japanese Wikipedia does so seems wrong. However, as you seem to have been the main overseer of that page, I wanted to talk to you about it and know your reason to listing it as his real name before I try to make any changes (like transferring the name from the top of the page to a section saying "His true name is believed to be Yanagawa Noboru[yamaha festival source], although no official statement from him, his agency, or any of his associates ever confirmed it.", since that seems more accurate). @Lefaery: The name Noboru Yanagawa was used during a period before Shouta Aoi was famous; people don't use stage names if they're not celebrities. There's also the fact that he has performed as "Noboru" and posted videos on Niconico under the name "Noboru." Your claim is still valid though, but Japanese Wikipedia is not a good reason to back it up especially since Japanese media exhibits a lot of self-censorship and usually does its best to protect people's personal lives. If you do want to remove it, we will have to remove "birth name" altogether. Also, we can't word this as "His true name is believed to be etc..." as Wikipedia is not a place for speculation. lullabying (talk) 01:33, 22 April 2019 (UTC)

Although it isn't common that people who aren't celebrities to use stage names, there are actually various cases of people using aliases/stage names/etc from the start of their career. So this could very well be the case, seeing as there is still no concrete proof of it being his birth name. I saw the 'believed to' as something like 'his fans speculate that', not as the Wikipedia in itself speculating it, but I see how it could be seen as this either way. I still think it could be removed as his birth name and just listed as a name he used previously, because it's, in the end, all that it is confirmed as, unless a reliable source (like a family member, an interview by him, his agency, or even something like a birth certificate) comes forward confirming it. Also as you were the one to remove it in the first place, I want to give it a heads up that I'll be putting back the title 'songwriter' on his page, as he's been listed as the songwriter in at least one song for every album or mini album he has released in recent times, like 'Powder Snow' (album Zero), 'I Am' (cd Eclipse) and '奪えないもの' on his latest cd (Tone) released this month. Just so it isn't deleted again. EDIT: I also want to add that in one of his radio shows, he said that his real name was actually Shouta, with just a different kanji, although Aoi was not his surname. Yes, I think listing it in prose on the early life section seems fine. Since you've been the one making the big changes on his page and knows more about the Wikipedia formatting, I'll leave it to you to add that (when you have the time), if that's ok. Also on some of my searches, he also confirmed on a radio that he participated in a high school nationals tennis tournament during his school years, in 2003. Following with the fact that he said previously that his name was actually Shouta, I found a record of all the participants of the tournament on that year and, although again it is not confirmed, the closest I could find to his real name was Yanagawa Shouta (柳川　翔太), and it seems that is also the agreement Japanese fans have come to. (source for the tournament participants list). Although I don't think that is enough confirmation or valid source to use on Wikipedia, I figured it'd be good if you knew this information too. • By extending the episode summaries you risk having WP:FLOWERY and Wikipedia:Too much detail. The episode plots of each episode are really simple and aren't as convoluted as the examples you mentioned, especially since each episode is half the runtime of those series. Realistically episode summaries should be short because of Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Writing about fiction#Accuracy and appropriate weight. Also this article is in English but all the references are in Japanese which most readers don't understand at all. That's why I added the ref in English. Just like many Korean articles with many references in Korean. I always wonder why. If I can understand Japanese or Korean, I would just read the Japanese or Korean Wikipedia articles. No need to read the English Wikipedia article.

Hello. I'm curious as to why you shortened a sentence that is properly referenced and has been on the wiki for over six years without any objection from you until now? The data is factual and I see no implication that the animation studio developed the series because of fan activity. The original citation of ("Fake anime series inspires real fans on Tumblr". The Daily Dot. Retrieved March 12, 2013.) simply states that fan response was high and petitions were sent to create a series. This is absolutely true. Kyoto Animation acted independently, not because of the fans and the sentence doesn't say the studio acted in response to fan requests. If a clarifying sentence is warranted, add it, but if a documented fact is on the page, I believe it should remain on the page. I don't want to argue and I'm not even the person who originally wrote the sentence in 2013, but this doesn't make sense to me. Wikipedia is about honoring facts, not deleting them. Getting fan work is nothing really notable and The Daily Dot isn't a good source (it's not listed on Wikipedia:WikiProject Anime and manga/Online reliable sources). None of the petitions are really notable except for Crunchyroll's. Better sources to be cited are these articles from Kotaku here and here (one of them does cite the original Daily Dot article but Kotaku is a bigger outlet for these sorts of things and also directly links to Crunchyroll's petition). But if you want to read the sentence with clarification and updated sources, then feel free to. It's better to give less weight to the fan response or to redo the sentence.

The reason why it's undisputed for so long is partially because the majority of the people working on the anime-related articles on this Wiki don't understand Japanese and are thus disconnected from the Japanese sources (which a lot of interviews and guidebooks are released in).

The issue with the sources, however, is that they are ambiguously worded so that people have the misconception that the anime was made solely because of fan response when it had been planned before that. You still have big outlets like Anime News Network perpetuating this misconception from time-to-time (their original article stated so before people sent them corrections). The Free! Guidebook (a fan translation here) states that the show had been planned since 2011. I don't believe the anime was actually in the works as of 2011 (ok, maybe it was a seed), but it certainly wasn't previewed in the spring of 2013 and aired that summer. And please tell me you will make an effort to understand why (unverified) statements like "Saki Yamakita's favorite anime is Pokémon. The number of members in a group, along with the year debuted, should ideally go into the individual articles, while Johnny & Associates should focus on the company as a whole. Also, the reason why it's been there for years is because the majority of J-pop articles have really been only edited by its hardcore fan base who find details like this important and are unaware Wikipedia's Manual of Style. I was scolded by User:scope_creep today because there were secondary sources but that user keeps reverting it. As you said before, I need to find reliable secondary sources that report news on the actresses (outside of their activities with Iris). Anime News Network (news articles only) is a good place to start. Oricon and Natalie are also good sources in Japanese language.

1. So, this is about the last Thread we talked before... It really will/would not get too long just to put them. The same case happened in List of Aikatsu! characters, where someone already removed the dub actors in other languages without full detail (other than just because they are not necessary). I already wrote a notice on their talk page.

2. I noticed your comment on Kirarin Revolution page:

They were only active for 3 months, but I get your point on when their disbandment took place as being unclear. Notability as a band is not being disputed -- the article overlaps with Kirarin Revolution and the group itself isn't independent outside of the show. You can also say the same thing with Ships (band). Their singles charted but there is barely any information about them aside from them being created for Kirarin Revolution. Other similar examples include Love Live! and The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls, where the voice cast do hold concerts as the characters they portray, and their singles chart as well, but their band presence alone depends on the show and they are not independent from the show as a band (and there's even more information on them than there is for Kirapika) -- context about the group depends heavily on the main series they are from, causing an overlap in articles.

If you looked through Yaoi or even the Japanese Wikipedia page for shōnen-ai, you would know that it's an outdated term used from the 1970s to early 1990s originating from shojo manga and associated with something like Moto Hagio's works.

In Japan, the modern term used for "yaoi" is BL (boys' love), which encompasses both sexual AND non-sexual works provided that they are published in a magazine catering to a fujoshi demographic. "Shōnen-ai" is only part of the boys' love category. "Shōnen-ai" literally means pederasty, not boys' love, even though it started the boys' love movement. I'm going to assume you know Japanese too in case you don't need me to explain that different combinations of Japanese characters may have different meanings... they're not one-to-one translations.

The reason why we use yaoi is because of WP:CONSENSUS from the page's editors at Talk:Yaoi#Requested move 9 August 2018, because per WP:COMMONNAME "yaoi" sees way more use in the English-speaking world than "boys' love." If you would like to rename the article, go ahead and start a new discussion for it, but as of now, it is what it is.

The characters are the same, just in a different continuity, and any "new" backstory has already been covered by Digimon Adventure (2020 TV series). Furthermore, I would also get rid of the tables -- while I did put them there in the first place, my views have changed and I agree it is mostly WP:FAN. Wanted to touch base regarding children/family/whatever genre. Absolutely agree with your comment; I'm currently stumped as to addressing the "children" genre thing - I've seen this on several articles and don't have a good work-around. To clarify, this is apparently caused by Children's anime and manga being categorized as a demographic which triggers the flag listed under . I suppose the real issue is that there isn't a definitive list of genres in the first place: the few listed over on anime portal are certainly not definitive. 1. MOS:JAPAN#Titles of media: MOS states that stylizations to song titles should not be used in article, such as all capital letters (unless they are acronyms) and lowercase letters. Other than it, I don't really understand why they are removed from English titles whereas many English reliable sources use them. They look pretty bad to me. I think the lack of symbols is just bordering WP:FAN.
2. Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Titles#Typographic effects: Because of that, can you rename Girls² article to Girls2?

Hello! Thank you so much for creating a page for ORβIT. Yesterday, I edited the page, but it looks like most of the changes have been reverted. I'm relatively new to editing on wikipedia and have been looking at other groups' pages as reference, so I do have a couple questions if you have the time!

• According to MOS:Trademarks, stylized names are allowed if a name is always written in that form. Many other groups also use all caps within their pages such as UP10TION, AB6IX, BTS, NU'EST, etc. I can't find any precedence to using Greek letters in titles, so I'd understand not using the B and simply stylizing the name as ORBIT.
• The Japanese and the Korean name of the group should be included in the lead paragraph.
• The member names are interesting as they still largely use their legal names, but are often referred to by a stylized version of the name (e.g., Uehara Jun/June). I believe a manual of style may state to just use the stage names instead. I do see groups such as Exile and Da-ice use a table to list their members. However, I can't seem to find this used in a primarily K-pop group though. Do you have any suggestions for this?
• For the history section, I believe the previous pre-debut section was effective for summarizing the history of each of the members in a chronological order and contained no promotional content. I did feel that the debut section could have been better written and may take another stab at it later.

• @Itsdaletos: WP:MOSTM states: Avoid using special characters that are not pronounced, are included purely for decoration, or simply substitute for English words or letters (e.g., "♥" used for "love", "!" used for "i") or for normal punctuation, unless a significant majority of reliable sources that are independent of the subject consistently include the special character in the subject's name. Similarly, avoid special stylization, such as superscripting or boldface, in an attempt to emulate a trademark. (See also Wikipedia:Article titles § Special characters.) Therefore we are using "Orbit." Also, per MOS:JAPAN, Japanese names must be listed in Western order (i.e. Jun Uehara instead of Uehara Jun). I discourage using tables to list the members -- the most band/group articles do not list tables and it's only the J-pop articles that have been doing this due to their pages only being edited by hardcore fans (due to J-pop not being as widespread as the West). For the pre-debut section, I decided to keep it short because it doesn't need a long history. I recently tried to add what I thought was a legitimate citation to the Free! TV Series article. Wikipedia refused to post it as such saying the site was disallowed without further explanation. In trying to accommodate, I listed what could be listed to provide information to a reader. You removed the link with the comment, "The link isn't even sourced properly." The attitude behind the comment feels snarky and disrepectful to me, unbecoming to a Wikipedia user. A non-judmental comment referring to Wikipedia's policy re: disallowed sites would have been proper. I am, therefore, requesting that the comment be removed. You cotinuely edit Lead articles by taking away relevant information. It was already confirmed that birthdays on members are relevant on the official page if individual articles do not exist. You continued to remove that information.

Now you are removing information that is relevant based on the proposition that it is "only relevant to the individual members and not the group", despite being done while the members were in the group and none of the members having individual pages.

Your edits are considered harassment due to this constant issue. Either create the articles for the individual members or keep the information where it belongs. I'm currently working on member pages, which requires more effort due to it being considered a biograohy. Until then, the information is where it should be. Thanks. According to discussions at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Korea/Popular culture/Archive 3#Members sections, as well as previous discussions on my very talk page, I have been told that birthdays are not notable on group articles. (@Drmies: can you help explain?) Furthermore, I don't think it's wrong to remove information about the group members' solo activities especially since they are irrelevant to the group. It looks like the group members are individually notable enough to have their own articles so ideally they should be there instead. But this sort of information does not belong on their group article. • Xenobia4, false claims of harassment are disruptive and blockable. Information needs to be well-verified by independent sources, which in K-pop/J-pop/M-pop are sometimes hard to come by. Frequently that information comes from the record company, which of course has an interest in having their member be as young as possible. Then can you give notice and time before just removing the information? Because if the individual members pages don't exist, then what they do solo, but while part of the group, is relevant. Namely with Hiroki, who stopped all activity after leaving the group. I've revived the entire page (and had all of their connecting pages created and approved). So you can clearly understand when, out of nowhere, one person is reverting and denying all of the research comes off as targeting.

I still hold up my original point: Until pages are created for each member, the information is relevant. I'm in the process of creating said pages, but by you going through and removing information en masse, it's taking 10x longer to track down the information that was already given, just needing to be moved over. One example I'll point out is how you had once added Pink no Idenshi to Lead's navigational template when only one member was involved in the show as a cast member. • @Xenobia4: No. Drmies was stating if the members have no notability outside of the group, then you shouldn't make articles for them. However, if they are, then that's fine. Notability can be established by WP:GNG and WP:NBIO; an easy way to determine notability is if the person was cast in lead roles in solo acting projects or had a solo album appear on national charts. Regardless, individual activities are irrelevant to the group's activities and I suggest not re-adding that information. If you still want to dispute that, I recommend you discuss at Wikipedia:WikiProject Musicians or Wikipedia:WikiProject Japan. My point still stands. lullabying (talk) 23:21, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
• Here's an example: Momoko Tsugunaga and Maiha Ishimura are members of Berryz Kobo. Maiha Ishimura got merged to Berryz Kobo because her only notability was being a member of the group which would mean most of her activities would just be parroting the main Berryz Kobo article. On the other hand, Momoko Tsugunaga was a regular panelist on several variety shows, had charting solo DVD and album releases, so she is notable enough to have her own article. lullabying (talk) 23:29, 16 March 2021 (UTC)

And the last time you made that edit all you had to do was copy it from the history. When Nakadoi finalized his decision, with full support to the others as a group, they chose to stay together due to the constant support of their fans". That's just fan chatter, and the source is the group's blog. Then perhaps you should take into account the hundreds of hours it takes to research every little thing to make sure it's accurate to warrant a source in an article. I have. I'll find one source and spend hours making sure that source is legit and meets wiki guidelines. I've been doing this for over a decade.

If you question it, then spend the time I have resourcing it to ensure it meets criteria. When I spend days/weeks/months on an article, it's because I'm researching every source. What sources say, what fans say, what the general public says - I don't throw together articles all willy nilly. I do research. A LOT of research. So yes. In 2019, Shinzo Abe tried to change it back to Japanese name order but it has not caught on internationally yet. I've noticed that since we both appear to be adamant about fixing Lead-related pages, why not a team up? I've been trying to fix the main page to be suitable for GA status for a while, but time isn't something I have a lot of.

I could use someone like you helping me out to get the page up to par. I've fixed a lot of the issues over the years (finding appropriate sources, making sure information is factual and not based on fan speculation, etc.). Last time I attempted to nominate it (2018), it came down to sources listed prior to when I took the page under my wing (most information before Hiroki Nakadoi left the group in 2013) needing revisions or sources in general. Some of the sources prior to 2013, I don't know which are good or which are bad (sans some fansites I had to delete the sources for due to the biases).

Some of my reasoning:

• The rating is only in the Kanto area ("Tokyo area") and not even entire Japan.
• Also, some data is missing because the TV rating site only cover up to 10 first spot, so some week, we did not have rating for the Spy × Family series (it will be missing, forever, no way to know about it).
• The site also clear the date every week and we rely too much on Anime News Networks site for rating report, so if one week they stop doing that or forget doing that, we won't have the data we need.
• Do we actually need this part? It serves almost no purpose.

I think it is not about "it doesn't hurt to add tbis information" but the reasons I losted out above. The information is incomplete and will be incomplete in the future. The information is only relevant to only Kanto area (and not even the wholr Japan), and we rely on ANN to update the info for us from a site that refresh every week and purge all kf the data from last week.

In short, the info is unreliable. I suggest we remove it because literally it is completely useless info. I don't think "It doesn't hurt" is a good reasoning. Theodorethebear (talk) 03:21, 8 June 2022 (UTC)

If you insist to keep up with that, then I guess you will update the rating then. But I already told you, the information is incomplete. For example: there is no rating for the series in week 3 and week 4. The Japanese site didn't have it either because they only posted top 10. The info existed but it has never been posted on the internet and will never be updated. But like I said, if you insist to keep up with the incomplete info then it is what it is. Well in the page List of Spy × Family episodes, you mentioned that "the episode summaries on this page are bit too flowery and are too detailed so it may violate WP:FLOWERY and WP:FAN". I checked and 95% are accurate and concise within the plot point, except for some minor details that I will fix soon. But if you called it out like that, it must mean you perceived differently. @Lullabying: Just leave this here though, in case you come to see this: "At home, Loid is certain that they have failed the interview, but even Yor and Anya's reassurance." is really weird though. In the end, he accept to leave everything to fate, and wait for the result with them. This sentence is not correct with the plot though. I rather add something at the end so it is not like he is certain everything is doomed. That was a really strong moment in the end of that episode and (biased opinion from me) they share a positive moment. Loid was permissive about the result but in the end became more possitive. That is why I want to end it with a more possitive nod. But I understand if it is not ok. Well, biased opinion is not ok. But the fact that he changed his mind and accept that not even the best spy cannot depend on luck.

I fixed that part now so it is neutral about the event. You can check if it is ok or not.

@Btspurplegalaxy: Some comments: Arama! Japan is a gossip blog and should only be used for their interviews. (They originated as an offshoot of Oh No They Didn't on Livejournal with a focus on J-pop; they were originally called Arama They Didn't). I've seen that you moved 22/7 game info into the anime page, which I believe is incorrect. 22/7 is mixed-media idol project, and the anime should not the main entry. The idol -> 2016, the anime -> 2020. Anything that's not the anime should present in idol entry instead. The logic is that the game is based on idol, not the anime. I was watching a recent video from Joey and he mentions that he does indeed have Japanese Citizenship and a passport (jump to 9:15). This is related to edits on July 17th when you removed dual nationality because no source was given at the time, well this is a direct source. You need a secondary source to confirm this, as him just casually mentioning this in a YouTube channel is a primary source. Moreover, the article Japanese Australian indicates an Australian person of Japanese descent, and per MOS:ETHNICITY, we are supposed to list the subject's nationality. The cover of the book is protected by copyright no matter where it came from. Basically, what it means is that the cover image is owned by the publisher and is technically not free. Hi, I recently reverted the edit on the Tokyo Revengers page regarding the chapter titles. What is the basis for them? Tokyo Revengers, including its derivative works, never have chapter titles written in Japanese because they are all inherently written in English, hence why all titles are the same upon the official English releases by Kodansha USA. The only exceptions thus far are the spelling errors in Chapter 153 (from "NocteKing" to "NoctoKing") and Chapter 175 (from "Adomonitions..." to "Admonitions"). hello. I am writing this because I have something to say about editing related to Koreans in Japan. First of all, my native language is not English, so please understand that the context may be strange.

After Korea gained independence from Japan, Koreans in Japan lost their Japanese nationality due to the San Francisco Treaty, and in 1952, the Korean-Japanese government recognized Koreans in Japan as Korean citizens, not Japanese citizens.

In 2010, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Korea announced that it would recognize Koreans in Japan as Koreans. In other words, Koreans living in Japan should be considered Koreans in Japan as special permanent residents, not Japanese.

If you acquire Japanese nationality, you are a Japanese people of Korean descent, not a Korean in Japan. If a wise person among Koreans living in Japan later acquired Japanese nationality, an explanation and source regarding the acquisition of Japanese nationality, such as the Yoshihiro Akiyama document, is required. There is no news that the people I edited have acquired Japanese nationality, other than that they are Koreans living in Japan.

The related story is not a matter for discussion, but rather a fact, and it seems to be currently known to be incorrect.

In 1945, Korea was liberated from Japan, and all Koreans lost their Japanese nationality due to the San Francisco Treaty. Among those people, those who could not return to Korea and remained in Japan became Koreans in Japan. On January 29, 1952, the Korean and Japanese governments discussed these issues, and the contents included '1. 'Both Korea and Japan recognize that Koreans living in Japan are citizens of the Republic of Korea and not of Japan.(1. 한일 양국은 재일한국인이 대한민국 국민이며 일본 국민이 아님을 승인한다.)'

Also, since I live in Korea, when I look at articles about related celebrities, I often see articles such as Koreans in Japan saying that they are Koreans in Japan and have Korean nationality, but people mistake them for Japanese nationality.

Koreans in Japan are special permanent residents active in Japan and their nationality is Korean. Because they are not Japanese citizens, there are restrictions on things like suffrage, which leads to social problems in Japan. If they acquire Japanese nationality, they are no longer Koreans in Japan, but Japanese people of Korean descent. There is no source at all for the article that some Koreans in Japan included people who became Japanese, and this story itself cannot be found in Korea.

In the case of Sonim, even in the Japanese Wikipedia, he is listed as a Korean nationality, and no source or information about his Japanese nationality can be found.

To summarize because the article is long, Koreans in Japan are a special case due to the Japanese colonial period.

This might be outdated, but I saw your comment on Talk:List of Pretty Rhythm characters asking whether or not Prism Jumps should be included. Someone has removed them a long time ago on all three Pretty Rhythm character pages, which I believe they shouldn't because Prism Jumps are the important parts of the franchise and it centers on them. Otherwise, I'm okay with that unless those are properly sourced.

While I understand your reasoning, this is a bit of an exception because the Japanese voice acting for the game was emphasized as having full lip synch and subtitles alongside the Korean and English one, and moreso because it's oddly enough only available on the Japanese version of the game. I feel it's a weird enough distinction that mentioning it in this case won't hurt, and is in the same vein as how we approach the different voice actors for Genshin Impact characters. Regarding Japanese romanization, some words are also mistakenly translated. For instance,５つ is romanized as Itsutsu and not Mittsu, whereas the latter would be romanized as３つ and mean "three"

Per WP:LISTCRIT: As Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a directory, repository of links, or means of promotion, and should not contain indiscriminate lists, only certain types of lists should be exhaustive. Criteria for inclusion should factor in encyclopedic and topical relevance, not just verifiable existence. The majority of the series listed on their page are supported with links on where to watch the video, or unreliable sources (like BL Watcher, which does not have an editorial board and therefore is viewed as a random blog). The list itself is already tagged with unreliable sources. If a series does not have a Wikipedia article, nor is there a third party reliable source, then it shouldn't be listed. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of non-free use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
