Citation Question

I realize that information on Wikipedia pages should be cited, but doesn't that seem to suggest that every sentence has a citation? I'm just curious. Is that really what's supposed to happen? I see hundreds of articles without citations except for once in a while. Even legit encyclopedias don't have citations for every sentence. How can an editor know what to cite or not to cite if the information they list is part of their general knowledge base versus something they add based on research or info gleaned from another source? Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Proving the truth of Digimon.

I'm so sorry, but I found those article to prove that Hasbro is acquiring all of the entertainment assets by Saban Brands. If you read those articles from those to prove that Digimon was part of the entertainment assets including Power Rangers, Treehouse Detectives, Julius Jr., Popples, and others, including Glitter Force. Do you believe me now? Sources: https://investor.hasbro.com/news-releases/news-release-details/hasbro-closes-acquisition-saban-properties-power-rangers-and https://newsroom.hasbro.com/news-releases/news-release-details/hasbro-acquire-saban-brands-power-rangers-and-other PascalMuganyizi (talk) 02:03, 12 December 2018 (UTC)

@PascalMuganyizi: I would still wait before adding this information. The press release does say it acquired Saban's assets but it does not explicitly mention Digimon. For all we know, it is possible another company may have picked it up. Please do not add the information until there is a stronger confirmation. lullabying (talk) 02:40, 12 December 2018 (UTC)

Are you sure? PascalMuganyizi (talk) 12:02, 12 December 2018 (UTC)

@PascalMuganyizi: I am sure. The press release says nothing about Digimon and therefore this information should not be added. A more explicit confirmation is needed so that there is no more edit warring. lullabying (talk) 17:30, 12 December 2018 (UTC)

But it said "other entertainment assets," in the papers. PascalMuganyizi (talk) 19:43, 12 December 2018 (UTC)

@PascalMuganyizi: Digimon wasn't specifically mentioned. The press release does not say which Digimon series was attained by Hasbro. It should not be added until we have more information. There are also currently rumors that Toei Animation are now the sole distributors for Digimon and if you have a clearer source, it would significantly stop the editing wars on the articles. lullabying (talk) 20:24, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
Third Opinion. This is not a subject area I know anything about, but I've read the Hasbro corporate press release linked above, specifically this as part of the transaction, Hasbro acquired Saban Properties’ interests in several additional entertainment assets, including My Pet Monster, Popples, Julius Jr., Luna Petunia, Treehouse Detectives and others and find it unclear whether Hasbro is purchasing all of Saban's properties in this deal or not. But this will become clear in time, and I think this is a there is no deadline situation. Geogene (talk) 01:04, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

Hello! Although everything Pascal says does not prove anything, Hasbro Studios LLC has been claiming copyrights for several Digimon videos on YouTube.

@Angel135: I don't doubt these claims, but these aren't valid sources. We should wait until an official confirmation comes out to avoid edit warring on the articles (see WP:NODEADLINE). As far as I know, even if Hasbro Studios has the distribution license, we do not know for sure which parts of the franchise it has rights to. lullabying (talk) 20:20, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

Your edits to the page Lead (band)

You have changed and reverted my edits to the page for the group Lead.

The members refer to each other and to their fans using their first names during tours, various short movies they've released and their "home movies" posted to their official YouTube. Hiroki leaving the group was a large step and change for the group and his departure is relevant to the band's history. Given that he had been planning to leave the group for over a year, it's information that people reading the article should be made aware of when reviewing the group. The departure of a founding member is something that cannot be glossed over for the article to have thorough and informative material.

Member color, as I have explained before, corresponds to "member edition" singles they have release throughout the years ("Hurricane", "Tokyo Fever", "Speed Star", etc.). Either backgrounds or colors of the titles refer to the member's given "image color." This information is relevant and should not be removed. Xenobia4 (talk) 05:51, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

@Xenobia4: Wikpedia is not a fan site (see WP:NOTFANSITE). The Wikipedia refers to the names people use professionally. Unless you provide a source that they use their first names only as stage names, then it's improper to refer to them by their first names. Just because someone calls another by their first names (even in Japanese context), it does not mean it's used in a professional context unless there's a reliable source that states they use them as stage names (i.e. having music credits with just their first name, as an example). Please read WP:MOSBIO.
I agree Nakadoi leaving is important but it does not need an entire section for something that can be summarized in one paragraph. It should be integrated into the "History" section otherwise it comes off as WP:UNDUE. Giving it its own section puts too much focus on it, and it does not reflect the overall weight of the article.
I reformatted the members list to improve readability, which should be kept. Regarding their member colors, you need to link to a reliable source. Without a reliable source provided (just saying "They released it on their singles" isn't enough -- you need to have a reliable source that mentions these things) then it's considered WP:FAN and WP:ORIGINAL, which isn't allowed by this Wikipedia.
For that reason, the article reads like a fan site to me. I must reiterate that Wikipedia is not a fan site, because I don't feel you seem to get what constitutes as original research and why it isn't allowed. I noticed you removed the tag without discussion -- please don't do that without discussing with other editors first. lullabying (talk) 10:10, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi! Concerning this: . As far as I know, there is now a book containing mini reviewa for all of their singles. I think that was done at least for Momusu, Berryz and Cute. --Moscow Connection (talk) 10:17, 14 January 2019 (UTC)

If you can find the review itself, you can use it to expand the article. Otherwise, it's not considered notable. If the book is self-published, it's not a reliable source. lullabying (talk) 16:41, 14 January 2019 (UTC)
I don't know where to find the books. I saw an ad for one of them on CDJournal three years ago or so.
Actually, CDJournal now has minireviews for all of Cute's major label singles on their site: . --Moscow Connection (talk) 12:46, 18 January 2019 (UTC)
By the way! Koharu's singles also have minireviews now: . You can use them. (There isn't much, but enough to prove notability.) --Moscow Connection (talk) 12:53, 18 January 2019 (UTC)

Japanese idol

Hi! Could you please not remove links to Cute and Berryz Kobo from the "Japanese idol" article? They are those "Morning Musume's sister groups" that the sentence talks about, so why not mention them?

And I would also like to note that the list you completely removed wasn't a much bigger OR than the list of the most-selling idols. (Yes, I see there is a good source, but it's from 2011 and some of the numbers were updated from other sources and seem to differ too drastically. I also would like to alert you of a possibility of the list growing into something like the "list of best-selling music artists", which is utterly original.) I'm not saying it has to be removed, though. But just think, what's more useful for the reader, the list you removed or the list of celebrities from times long bygone? (I would have both.) --Moscow Connection (talk) 01:19, 9 February 2019 (UTC)

I've also posted here:

You don't have to reply there, though. I put some effort into the article some years ago and since then it waited for attention from a native English speaker with good literary skills and (finally!) you are the person. And you have good research skills, too. I greatly appreciate your contribution. I'm not planning to interfere and will just wait for future developments. Presently I'm just asking you to mention Cute, Berryz Kobo and S/mileage a.k.a. Angerme and to think about adding the active idols list back in some form. Maybe you can find a good source for a short selective list by agency/project.
(But still, could you please be more respectful to other people's views/opinions? I've also found a message by Ouranista who told you practically the same thing.) --Moscow Connection (talk) 02:16, 9 February 2019 (UTC)

Mass removal of sources

Don't do this , . First of all, "Babymetal" is a carefully referenced article, and you mixed up all the references. Secondly, you yourself said in you edit summaries that the sources you were removing were simply translations from Japanese sources. Wouldn't it be more logical for you to find the originals and replace the translations with them? Thirdly, Wikipedia is a work in progress. Your removal of sources impeded the future development of the article and thus was unhelpful. --Moscow Connection (talk) 09:18, 16 March 2019 (UTC)

  • @Moscow Connection: Arama! Japan is a gossip blog and isn't considered WP:RELIABLE for news (they are fine for interviews, however). It was originally a spin-off of Oh No They Didn't. Some of their articles are still written in a memetic joking manner and the nature of the website (in which they have accepted articles written by their readers) still hardly makes them a valid source. Sometimes they don't reference the sources they translated from. Removing unreliable sources is not impeding future development -- I had planned on replacing with the original sources but at a later time. Please assume WP:GOODFAITH, as I have repeatedly warned you. lullabying (talk) 09:31, 16 March 2019 (UTC)
    • (edit conflict) As far as I know, Arama! Japan contributors simply translate Japanese news. So it's unlikely that there are factual errors. And it's 1000 times easier to find a reliable Japanese source if you already have a translation than if you have nothing at all.
It was impeding future development cause now someone who cares can easily find a replacement source. But if there are no sources, the next step will be to remove the information as unsourced. And, in the case of Babymetal, to simply delete half the article cause after what you did it appears to have fake sources and looks like written by someone who can't be trusted.
If you don't really care enough / don't have enough time to go and find the originals, you should just mark the sources as unreliable (there is a special template for this) and wait until someone replaces them. --Moscow Connection (talk) 09:58, 16 March 2019 (UTC)
    • How am I not assuming good faith? I obviously do. Did I warn you for vandalism or something? No, I came and explained why I thought what you did was wrong and bad for the articles. --Moscow Connection (talk) 10:03, 16 March 2019 (UTC)
    • "I had planned on replacing with the original sources but at a later time."
Then could you please do this for the Babymetal article? In the next couple of days? Cause I'm looking at it now and it seems to me that your edit cannot be easily reverted. I'm afraid I would have to spend half an hour putting back everything you removed. But the article can't be left as it is cause the sources are all mixed up now. --Moscow Connection (talk) 10:15, 16 March 2019 (UTC)
      • Arama! Japan used to be a LiveJournal community before they made their own site, and if you believe there are any "errors", just read their Maki Goto articles and see that their tone may cause the source to fall into WP:RELIABLE territory. You already reverted my edits on other articles to an earlier revision. For the Babymetal article, from my memory, I only remembered about 1-3 sources. I might be wrong about this though, and recovering the sources from those edits won't take too long. lullabying (talk) 21:35, 16 March 2019 (UTC)
