Target for the redirect
Reverted because this page is not called "canonical symplectic form", but just "symplectic form". - Momotaro 12:43, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
Should this be redirected to Symplectic vector space instead of Symplectic manifold? The prior is what I was expecting to find and actually references the term in the article, while the latter does not. Padicgroup 22:09, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Redirect or disambiguation?
In the literature, a symplectic form can be either a non-degenerate alternating bilinear form on a vector space or a non-degenerate alternating tensor field[a] on a differentiable manifold. I believe that the second is more common, but that the first is common enough that changing the redirect to a DAB page with links to
would be better than changing the redirect target.

- Note, a different discussion about this was started at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2026 March 8 § Symplectic form. To quote a couple of the comments there: 1234qwer:
Ebony Jackson:Most backlinks to this seem to be referring to the 2-form on a symplectic manifold.
I think using any of these targets seems fine as long as there are hatnotes between them, but a disambiguation page would also be entirely fine. Ping Chatul. –jacobolus (t) 02:31, 9 March 2026 (UTC)Redirect seems fine to me. Anyone looking for symplectic form or symplectic vector space will be looking for the same information, to be found on this redirected page.
