Legal problems with sequel
According to local media reports, the producers and cast of Maula Jatt 2 have been served with legal notices by the original films producer Sarwar Bhatti. He claims "that the sequel producers can’t use the name of the movie, music and characters without getting prior approval from him."

The intellectual origin of 'Maula'
Adding a short historical background of the Maula's character would be beneficial and interesting, describing the evolution from Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi's Gandasa and the Nasir Adeeb's Wehshi Jutt to Maula Jutt and The Legend of Maula Jutt: The forgotten origin of Maula Jatt, The Legend of Maula Jatt to be released in cinemas on Thursday. Quick suggestions
Hi, thank you for highlighting this topic under the GAN. Really sorry, I may not be able to review it formally for now. But I have some quick suggestions (I may be wrong though), some of which are in my recent edit summary.
- PKRConvert is an outdated template, it does not comply WP:V anymore due to the inflation and the currency unstability.
- Please see WP:WTW, and that if there is any unattributed or unsourced claim presented as a fact in wikivoice. For e.g. the film budget and runtime.
- The WP:LEAD paragraphs are good, but I suggest removing references and instead, it should present clean summary of the article.
- Please define the terms like "gandasa" for the readers who may be unaware, since there is no wikilink apparently.
- "Casting and preparation" section only focuses on two actors. Can this be expanded?
- Is there any more information available about Pre-production, Filming, and Post-production phases?
Thank you! M. Billoo 15:21, 23 May 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for being transparent and really appreciate your suggestions. I'll put these in parallel to GA criteria and MOS:FILM and revise if needed. Thanks again! :)) Umais🗣 19:07, 23 May 2026 (UTC)

Hey, I will review this in the next few days :) DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 19:50, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
Hey, I am really sorry for my lateness. Here is the review:
Lead: "Ammara Hikmat and Asad Jamil Khan produced the film under Encyclomedia and Lashari Films" - This is not sourced in the prose, could you please add and source it or remove it?
Done: I added a sourced prose in Production, and shortened in lead so it summarizes the body prose.
Plot:
- Can you please say where and when the film is set (if known)?
- "Jeeva Natt's clan attacking the haveli of Sardar Jatt" - Is it possible to briefly explain what the clan and/or the haveli of Sardar Jatt are?
- "Maula agrees to apologise to the Natt clan for their safety" - I am a bit confused what this means?
Done: I revised the Plot to state that the film is set in a fictionalised version of Punjab in an unspecified period, linked haveli in the opening sentence, and clarified that Maula agrees to apologise to the Natt clan in the hope of sparing the village from further violence.
Cast - Could you please source the rest of the cast?
Done: I sourced the cast list to the film's end credits.
Production:
- Could you please briefly explain what Waar and Maula Jatt are?
- Can you please link or briefly explain what "gandasa film tradition" is?
- Can you please clarify that the 1979 film is Maula Jatt?
- "because the original film and the genre had dated" - Can you reword "had dated"?
- "original story's basic building blocks" - This sounds a bit informal - could you please reword it or use quotes?
- "with the first phase focused on Abbasi's character" - I am a bit confused - first phase of what?
Done: I clarified Waar and the Maula Jatt, briefly explained the gandasa film tradition, reworded "had dated" and "basic building blocks", and clarified that the "first phase" referred to the initial phase of physical training.
Release:
- "It was initially scheduled for release on" - Can you please clarify if this is for the film or trailer?
- Can you please link stay orders?
- "on 500 screens worldwide" - I think this needs rewording
- Could you please clarify what "import quota system" means for readers unfamiliar with the term?
Done: I clarified that the Eid al-Fitr 2019 date referred to the film's theatrical release, linked stay orders, reworded the 500-screen sentence, and briefly explained China's quota-based film import system.
Reception:
- Can you please link Rs. crore?
- Can you please link Game of Thrones and Gladiator?
- Can you clarify what it means to be absorbing? Maybe you could use a quote?
- "praising its scale" - Can you please clarify what the scale is of?
- Can you please clarify why Khan's Punjabi accent was criticised?
Done: I added internal links, clarified the Screen Daily wording with a short quote, reworded "scale" as the scale of the production and action sequences, and clarified the Punjabi accent criticism using only what the cited sources support.
The article is well sourced, appears to be neutral, does not have any big Earwig violations and the sources appear to be reliable.
Once these have been addressed I will do a source spotcheck. Please let me know if you need any help or have any questions! DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 01:05, 18 June 2026 (UTC)

- Very well done article. Reached GA three days ago and definitely deserves it. DYK sources check out. Earwig clocks in at 35% but its all names or minor instances of WP:LIMITED. QPQ is good. As for the hooks, in my opinion ALT0 is the best, while ALT1 is also good. ALT2 lacks interest for me.
