- The Traitors India → The Traitors (Indian TV series)
- The Traitors India season 1 → The Traitors (Indian TV series) season 1
- The Traitors India season 2 → The Traitors (Indian TV series) season 2
– The name "The Traitors India" is not mentioned once in neither the show (or its title card) or in any of the press releases by Amazon Prime Video India. The original announcement only contains the title The Traitors. On its official prime video page, it is simply listed as The Traitors (without India) and India is not mentioned even once in show's description. On the official Prime Video Press website, the show's title is once again only The Traitors. This is unlike the Canadian or the Ireland adaptations that explicitly mention the country name. - Oppose: “The Traitors” is the title of the franchise as well as the title used by Prime Video for the Indian edition, so a geographic disambiguator is necessary to distinguish it from the other adaptations.
- I also don’t think “The Traitors (Indian TV series)” is necessarily the best alternative, since this is an OTT streaming series rather than a television broadcast.
- Also, Telugu version is announced by Prime, However, I think it is premature to rename the existing article as “The Traitors (Hindi)” before that version has actually aired and there is a demonstrated need to distinguish separate language editions like Bigg Boss. Until then, the existing Indian edition can remain the main article for the franchise’s Indian adaptation.
- For now, I would retain the current title rather than move it to “The Traitors (Hindi)” or “The Traitors (Indian TV series).” Tenshi Uisu (talk) 18:30, 17 August 2026 (UTC)
- Support: Per WP:COMMONNAME. Media Mender (chat, stalk) 18:40, 17 August 2026 (UTC)
- Everyone calls it “The Traitors India”, not “The Traitors (Indian TV series)”, so “The Traitors India” better follows WP:COMMONNAME, similar to Mahatma Gandhi rather than Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.
- Also, what factor of WP:COMMONNAME supports using “The Traitors (Indian TV series)”? Other versions use different naming contexts, such as Canada and Ireland, compared with UK and US. The same disambiguation format should not automatically be applied to India. Tenshi Uisu (talk) 18:51, 17 August 2026 (UTC)
Everyone calls it “The Traitors India”
is simply no true. Please provide sources especially credible Indian ones that do so. As I mentioned, Amazon calls it The Traitors without India. That is true even outside of India, so it is not a regional restriction as you implied above. Many Indian sources referred to it as simply The Traitors without India, , , . Frankly, calling this show title being officially,The Traitors India without it being its called that by any credible source, constitutes WP:OR. As all the countries such as Canada, Ireland and NZ that do mention the country name have it officially in its press releases and logo, which is once again not the case as in the Indian version. LiamKorda 05:56, 18 August 2026 (UTC)- Okay, then rename the page simply “The Traitors” but you can’t, because an article with that title already exists here. Amazon simply calls it “The Traitors” because it is the only version of the franchise available on the platform.
- Here, “India” is necessary as a disambiguator to distinguish the Indian adaptation from the existing article. The current title therefore makes sense and avoids confusion. It does not necessarily mean that “India” is part of the show’s official title.
- Even your proposed title is “The Traitors (Indian TV series)”, so you are still using “Indian” as a disambiguator. The only difference is that you have moved it into parentheses. If the concern is that “India” is supposedly not part of the official title, then that applies equally to “Indian” in the proposed title. Also, the series streams exclusively on Prime Video; it is not televised, so the proposed rename does not really address the issue. So I don’t see how the proposed title is an improvement over the current disambiguated title. If there is a better alternative, please suggest one. Tenshi Uisu (talk) 13:07, 18 August 2026 (UTC)
- Adding India without parentheses implies that India is part of the title, which once again, IT IS NOT. I support parentheses because that follows the pattern of how this issue was handled for US and UK versions. Also, your OTT point is moot as OTT contents is universally categorized as a Television content. US Traitors never airs on TV instead airs on a streaming service, Peacock, yet, it is too classified as a TV series because Academy of Television Arts and Sciences considered content released on OTT without a theatrical release is a TV show. LiamKorda 15:21, 18 August 2026 (UTC)
- If you want to make it official, simply use “The Traitors,” as that’s the title used everywhere. But adding parentheses to “India” is unnecessary, especially when The Traitors Telugu is officially titled “The Traitors Telugu.”
- Stop blindly applying Western naming conventions to India. OTT and television are treated separately here, and the US/UK approach doesn’t automatically apply to Indian content. We have Filmfare Awards and Filmfare OTT Awards for a reason.
- The Australian and UK releases on 10 Play and BBC iPlayer use “The Traitors India” too. Here, have a look: . Wikipedia is global, so international usage matters. There’s no reason to force “The Traitors (India)” or other titles. Toodles :) Tenshi Uisu (talk) 21:06, 18 August 2026 (UTC)
- Once again, I asked above of you to present credible Indian native sources that call this "Traitors India". What you mention are foreign sources. On point of Iplayer, Iplayer mentions the American version "Traitors US" but we don't use on Wikipedia, do we? The vice versa is same for UK version on Peacock. Also, you are wrong in your opinion that Prime Video only has the Indian version internationally that is why it is simply the Traitors, because Prime Video carries Australian version with title The Traitors: Australia. Your point on Western naming conventions is wrong because Indian OTT shows are counted as TV shows because Academy of Television Arts and Sciences rules which do matter because Indian OTT shows compete for International Emmys under TV category.
- At point on, I am moving on from this discussion per WP:COAL as I have already stated all of my reasons and sources that back them. Let other voices be heard and a decision be reached. LiamKorda 05:06, 19 August 2026 (UTC)
- Who exactly are you to demand that I produce “Indian sources” as if international sources suddenly don't count? Wikipedia is an international encyclopedia, not an India only project. I don't think I need to provide a list of “Indian sources” simply because you have decided that only Indian sources can establish common usage. International sources is still relevant to WP:COMMONNAME. If the official title used by Prime Video is simply “The Traitors“, then that's the title we should be discussing.
- And bringing up Emmy classification doesn't magically establish a Wikipedia article title.
- At this point, you're turning a straightforward naming discussion into an ego battle. You've explained yours, and you've already said you're stepping away under WP:COAL. So step away and let other editors decide. Tenshi Uisu (talk) 08:52, 19 August 2026 (UTC)

. I must remind you to follow WP:AGF, which I am sorry to say but you HAVE NOT in your last reply. Also, PLEASE READ the Don't Pop Our Ball point of WP:COAL. So, please do not contact in a very mean way as you did before and Do not reply to me. THANK YOU :/ LiamKorda 09:03, 19 August 2026 (UTC)- I understand that you consider the discussion closed from your side, and I have no intention of continuing a personal exchange. However, I disagree with your characterization of my previous comment as a failure to WP:AGF.
- For context, my comment also referred to the fact that, prior to this discussion, you had not been involved in editing this article to any significant extent, whereas over the past two days you have become substantially involved in it.
- Since you have said that you are moving on per WP:COAL and do not want a reply, I will respect that and leave the matter here. Tenshi Uisu (talk) 09:40, 19 August 2026 (UTC)

- Support: I support naming the series as per rules of WP:TVCOUNTRY. I am shocked and surprised at the tone and way of discussion between those two other users. I think Liam who requested this move is not that familiar with TV show rules because even though the rules are in their favor and he provided sources, they did not provide the rules of Wikipedia that support those claims. As per WP:TVCOUNTRY of WP:NCTV, adding ((country name) TV Series) is the preferred disambiguation method when needed to distinguish shows with the same title from different countries. Other user also did not provide like Liam, any rules or guidelines that supported their claims, which is why the discussion between both of them have not been positive.
