Ready to Publish

Hello Wikipedians. Thanks so much for all the encouragement and assistance received from the local chapter. Quick summary of the creation history. We received a request from a mailing list member "L Sibisi" to create an "official name for my township Tshepisong." Another member identified the location as being somewhere between Dobsonville and Kagiso. I identified that the article could be linked to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_of_Johannesburg_Metropolitan_Municipality where the area named Tshepisong still appears in red, I created a Wikidata entry https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q133249610 and wrote an article. We then received another request from the same mailing list member to list L Sibisi as a notable person from a political party and connect Facebook. Another member of Wikipedia explained to L Sibisii that "Wikipedia (and its editing community) is not a promotion vehicle for a political party, and there is nothing official about Facebook."

Another member indicated that Wikipedia was not meant a tool for personal promotion and "recommended that they "avoid contributing to topics in which you may have a conflict of interest (e.g. pages about yourself or your political party)".

Correspondence indicated that mailing list member was not a Wikipedia and despite being invited to contribute, seven days later they have not taken up the invitation. My learning from this experience has been

I like getting requests for articles from mailing list members
I need to ensure that the person requesting is
- aware of the 5 pillars of Wikipedia
- has a Wikipedia account and
- also is included as a contributor to the article themselves
Mailing list member should push these conversations onto the talk page earlier

New Developments
