Minister of Arts and Culture
Greetings, People. I left a comment at Talk:Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture#Minister of Arts and Culture where I would like a reply concerning the fact that there is more than one article about the "Minister of Arts and Culture" and one of those articles appears to have been abandoned with no mention that a newer ministry exists via merging. Should that article be kept or should a merger take place, considering that the Minister of Sport and Recreation link is now a redirect (no longer its own article; now linking to the merged ministry)? GeographicAccountant (talk) 23:00, 30 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hello again! :)
- I've fixed this by doing major edits and a merge with the old Minister of Arts and Culture page. So, we can delete the separate Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture article, so that its name can be used for the old one. I've added notes to the top of each, just in case another editor gets to them first. Husskeyy (talk) 18:42, 29 May 2026 (UTC)

Northern Suburbs, Cape Town and Southern Suburbs, Cape Town
Greetings. I am asking for a comment on what I wrote at Template talk:Cape Town#Northern Suburbs & Southern Suburbs, as what is written in that template is a little different from what is written in some of the individual articles such as Pinelands, Cape Town and Thornton, Cape Town (basically about which region each neighbourhood is part of). GeographicAccountant (talk) 17:33, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
- I'm surprised there is no comment here yet after 3 days. So, I am going to "assume" that the writing in the Thornton, Cape Town article is correct. So, just like I did at Template:City of Cape Town Metropolitan Municipality, I am going to edit Template:Cape Town to show that Thornton and Pinelands are NOT part of the "Northern Suburbs". Need to review / clean up / possibly merge some pages related to Khoe, San and coloured people
Hi there, I am a fairly novice Wikipedian so please excuse me if I am not following the correct protocol, I am not yet clear on how to engage the community on larger issues that span across multiple articles. However, I have noticed that there are a number of articles that touch on the indigenous peoples of South Africa (Indigenous people of Africa, List of indigenous peoples, Hottentot, Khoekhoe, Khoisan, San peoples, as well as the articles related to their languages and to their religions or culture), but they do not use consistent language and do not present the historical facts in a consistent manner. I also think that the Coloureds and Cape coloureds pages need a bit of attention. I am interested in giving this some thought but it is a big task and I am rather inexperienced so I am wondering if this could become a collective sub-project of WikiProject SA? If so, how does one go about starting it? Thanks, Magalivonblottnitz (talk) 18:22, 4 March 2026 (UTC)
Wikimedia Foundation banner fundraising campaign in South Africa
Dear all,
I would like to take the opportunity to inform you all about the upcoming annual Wikimedia Foundation banner fundraising campaign in South Africa.
The fundraising campaign will have two components.
- We will send emails to people who have previously donated from South Africa. The emails are scheduled to be sent between the 1st and the 26th of June 2026.
- We will run banners for non-logged in users in South Africa on Wikipedia itself. The banners will run from the 2nd to the 30th of June 2026.
Prior to this, we are planning to run some tests, so you might see banners for 3-5 hours a couple of times before the campaign starts. This activity will ensure that our technical infrastructure works.
I will be updating the community collaboration page soon. On there we outline more details around the campaign, share some banner examples, and give you space to engage with the fundraising campaign. I will inform you again here, on the VP, when the page is updated.
Generally, before and during the campaign, you can contact us:
- On the talk page of the fundraising team
- If you need to report a bug or technical issue, please create a phabricator ticket
- If you see a donor on a talk page, VRT or social media having difficulties in donating, please refer them to donate at wikimedia.org

COI edit request relevant to this project: De Beers
Proposed deletion of Lundin's Neck

The article Lundin's Neck has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Unsourced for 16 years. Tagged as Unreferenced for 6 years. No other language has a reliably sourced article from which to translate. Fails the relevant notability guidelines. Lacks significant coverage.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion based on established criteria.
If the proposed deletion has already been carried out, you may request undeletion of the article at any time. Bearian (talk) 11:30, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Matatiele Stadium

The article Matatiele Stadium has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Unreferenced for 15 years. No other language has a sourced article from which to translate. Small, run of the mill stadium that was briefly used by a second-tier team.

Tuelo Gabonewe - new article
Hi Everyone. My name is Tuelo Gabonewe and I would like to have an article published about myself. I have a draft article ready for review and verification written by a respected author and senior university lecturer with verifiable sources and citations. Please advise on the process to be followed for the article to be published? Thanks so much. RreGabonewe (talk) 12:03, 26 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hey Tuelo!
- Please submit your draft article via the wikipedia draft article upload wizard. It will be reviewed and, if relevant enough, moved to the Wikipedia main space.
- This is a lengthy process however, so if you want to see your article reviewed quickly, add WikiProject tags to your article, im sure your respected author should know enough about that however! Booksandarticles (talk) 13:24, 2 April 2026 (UTC)
Inclusion of unrelated articles in WP:SA due to Wikipedia Primary School
Hello, recently some people on the Wikipedia Discord noticed that a large amount of articles were tagged as part of Wikiproject South Africa under Wikipedia Primary School, a task force created to identify and improve articles that may benefit South African primary education. The project, which covered articles both specific to South Africa and general information articles such as Wood, seems largely defunct now, with no major edits to any of its pages since 2017.
To note these articles as part of the project, they were tagged as part of Wikiproject South Africa's PSP task force, which has created several issues. Firstly, it identifies core articles not at all specifically related to South Africa, such as Acid, Trade, and Cooking as part of the project, confusing the article data that the project uses. Secondly, pages such as Alcoholism, Child Abuse, and Domestic Violence specifically being part of Wikiproject South Africa and no other country creates an unintended negative view. I propose that Wikiproject South Africa be removed from these unrelated articles. As the project is defunct it will cause no organizational issues, and a record of which articles were covered by the task force exists at Wikipedia Primary School/Articles list. While I don't think this will be too controversial, I want to consult the members of this WikiProject first. CitrusHemlock 21:22, 7 April 2026 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Clive Solomons Stadium

The article Clive Solomons Stadium has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Unreferenced for 15 years. Tagged as such for a month. No other language has a reliably sourced article from which to translate. A Google News search found only a blank "trade" webpage. I didn't search Grokpedia, so you might find something there.
Bearian (talk) 14:28, 25 April 2026 (UTC)

The offer stands at a US$200 International Amazon Gift Card (region-adjusted) and a Biography Barnstar for successful mainspace publication via the formal Articles for Creation (AfC) process.

Wikimedia Foundation banner fundraising campaign in South Africa September 2026
Dear all,
I would like to take the opportunity to inform you all about the upcoming annual Wikimedia Foundation banner fundraising campaign in South Africa.
We will run banners for non-logged in users in South Africa on Wikipedia itself. The banners will run from the 2nd to the 30th of September 2026.
A brief note on the timing. We are moving the fundraising campaign in our planning from June to September which means that logged out readers will see fundraising banners twice this year. Going forward the campaign will again only run once each year.

Loreto Convent School Pretoria — request edit pending review
I have a conflict of interest (disclosed on my user page) and
have posted a {{request edit}} on the talk page of
Loreto Convent School, Pretoria, proposing a substantial expansion
of the current stub. The school is an 1878 Catholic institution in the
Pretoria CBD and one of the oldest schools in the city in continuous
operation. The expansion draws on independent secondary sources
including the peer-reviewed Pretorius (2019) Fundamina article,
contemporary TIME magazine reporting on the 1976 SACBC decision,
and The Southern Cross. The full proposed text is at
User:FatimaRawjee/sandbox/Loreto.
Would welcome review by any editor with interest in South African
educational or religious history.

The DCWC is back!

Hey WikiProject South Africa, the Developing Countries WikiContest is back for a third year, and sign-ups are now open! The contest will run from 1 July to 30 September, and the objective remains the same: improve as many articles relating to developing countries as you can to help fight systemic bias on Wikipedia.
Thanks to everyone who answered the call for coordinators, and please welcome the new faces on the coordinator team: the 2024 Gold Belt Buckle winner Generalissima (talk · contribs); and the record-holder for most India-related submissions in 2024, Magentic Manifestations (talk · contribs)! Following feedback from last year, adjustments have been made to the scoring rules; discussion can be found on the contest talk page.
If you have any questions, please leave a message on the contest talk page or contact one of the coordinators: Arconning (talk · contribs), Generalissima (talk · contribs), Magentic Manifestations (talk · contribs), sawyer777 (talk · contribs), or TechnoSquirrel69 (talk · contribs). A few questions
I wanted to ask, does the current government of South Africa retain documents and records from the former Bantustan governments? If so, is it possible to submit a FoI request? One of my sources stated that a necessary piece of information was kept secret at the time of said source's publication, but i'd assume documents from that era would be accessible via FoI since Transkei (the place in question) ceased to exist in 1994. Can this be done? Please let me know. Thanks! ⛿ WeaponizingArchitecture | yell at me 14:07, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
