thank you so much for expanding and nominating this very enjoyable album! expect my initial comments today or in a few days (aiming to finish this GAR in less than a week). Cattos💭 17:50, 2 April 2026 (UTC)
- Just fixed these issues. - RTSthestardust (talk) 02:10, 3 April 2026 (UTC)
- Fixed more corrections. - RTSthestardust (talk) 03:46, 3 April 2026 (UTC)
- Great work on refining the prose. The spot checks are largely solid. some phrasing would benefit from clearer attribution. Cattos💭 14:14, 9 April 2026 (UTC)

Quick checks
- Earwig picks 20.0% similarity.
- The album cover has appropriate non-free use rationale. The only thing missing is ALT text
Lead
- The lead utilizes quotes in three different places. since the first is at least attributable to Underscores herself, I would suggest paraphrasing only the latter two.
- The illustrator's name is spelled "Ochiai Shohei" in the "Personnel" section, but appears as "Ochlai Shohei" in the lead and "Artwork" section
- "being based on hotels" is awkward. Suggesting: "...inspired her at six years old, drawing inspiration from hotels." Also unlink hotels.
- The phrases "Marked as a departure from the rural-inspired folk concept album Wallsocket (2023)" and "Sonically contrasting the sound of Wallsocket" are redundant, employing the same idea more narrowly.
- The same applies for the phrases "by writing "accessible pop songs" for other artists, inspiring her third studio album." and "Thematically, it fixates on themes of "love, sex, and fame" with accessible pop songs.". Although these two aren't strictly redundant, they partially overlap the term "accessible pop songs", which makes it feel repetitive.
- "to hinder overproduction" is a bit formal. Suggest: "...to avoid overproduction." (also reword it in the Composition section)
Background
- "Generally described" can be seen as vague attribution
- "also releasing a deluxe edition of the album on June 28" dangling participle, unclear subject attachment
- Slightly awkward and redundant in the phrasing "occasionally" + "remained active". Suggesting: "Underscores remained active through occasional collaborations..."
Production
- "Although they did not go "anywhere or did anything", it inspired her to venture into pop music" quote is dropped in without context. "they" and "it" are unclear (likely referring to the songs), making the phrasing clunky. Suggesting: "Although these songs were never released, they inspired her to venture into pop music."
- "Transit" as a noun is a bit abrupt. Suggesting: "Traveling between cities shaped her approach to writing and recording..."
- "suited in" should be "suited to" or "suited for".
- "even so when" is awkward. Suggesting: "...so much so that her grandmother convinced the Hotel Gansevoort..."
Composition
- "It consists of nine tracks in a runtime of thirty-four minutes" awkward phrasing ("in a runtime")
- I notice that this section is very quote-heavy. The vast majority of the article should be written in one's own words (or attributed to the author). For example, you may write "Containing no features, the album fixates itself on themes of "love, sex, and fame" " without using quote marks. Similarly, "...as the majority usually complete their "standard verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus life cycle" by around two minutes and thirty seconds." can be straightforward, writing "with most songs following a concise verse–chorus structure". Before I continue to review the rest of the article, would you be willing to through and paraphrase the majority of its quotations (while keeping WP:CLOP in mind)? Cattos💭 03:34, 3 April 2026 (UTC)
- The problem still persists, especially in the tracks section, but the Overview section also needs to be reviewed, even though it has already been revised. For instance, this one passage
Shifting through "luscious Neptunes-adjacent gloss" and "raw, punk-edged sonics", U is sonically reminiscent as "tech-centric audio painting" and a "4-D sculpture" matching its creative energy.
uses four quotes and should be clearly attributed to its source. Cattos💭 12:10, 3 April 2026 (UTC)- fixed; only one is quoted RTSthestardust (talk) 14:54, 3 April 2026 (UTC)
- The issue is not limited to the example above. while that instance has been addressed, the overuse of quotations persists throughout the section, particularly in the "Tracks" subsection. Please review the section as a whole and reduce reliance on direct quotations that are being used in Wikipedia's voice. Cattos💭 15:00, 3 April 2026 (UTC)
- cut back some quotes; there are now just four quotations in the tracks 1-5 and 6-9 sections. RTSthestardust (talk) 21:35, 3 April 2026 (UTC)

- i feel as though WP:REFBOMB and WP:TMI also apply here? i'm still quite new to editing but i thought i'd just throw that out there Hiddengabber (talk) 05:12, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
- I don't consider that with the two essays to be an issue. What makes you say that? Cattos💭 16:54, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
- Is there anything that I need to fix before passing the nomination? - RTSthestardust (talk) 02:17, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
- I would've just promoted it right away, but I'm curious on what @Hiddengabber: wanted to comment about the article. Cattos💭 12:14, 11 April 2026 (UTC)

Artwork
- "The album artwork for U was designed by Japanese illustrator Ochlai Shohei, which resembles Stonestown Galleria..." ": "which resembles" should be "and resembles" (I think without the comma works)
- "At the same, Shohei was known for working with Pharrell Williams' Joopiter...": "At the same" should be "At the same time".
- "as the Underscores considered" --> "as Underscores considered"
- "...it led to Shohei creative the single artwork...": "Shohei creative" is ungrammatical. Suggesting: "...it led to Shohei creating the single artwork..."
- "while listening to an album" is vague. If the source doesn't specify the album, suggesting: "...while listening to music."
- Fixed these issues. RTSthestardust (talk) 03:32, 7 April 2026 (UTC)
Reception & commercial success
- The first paragraph of the Critical reception section and the phrase "U received critical acclaim from music critics." are redundant. The cleanest solution is to delete that sentence entirely.
- The Commercial success section consists of a single sentence and largely duplicates information already presented in the Charts section. Consider merging the content to avoid redundancy.
- Done. RTSthestardust (talk) 00:56, 8 April 2026 (UTC)
Spot checking
Nothing in the references strike me as unreliable, other than the primary sources. Reviewing 10 sources/15% of sources, whichever is larger. Numbering is based on this revision.

The source is good, but the influence claims (and the quote "less hair-raising") are interpretive, not objective, which means they must be clearly attributed to the author. - [37]

Good, but "Mac startup sound" is close paraphrasing. - [23]b,c,d,e
Checks out in most cases, but specific "representing a mix..." language is not present? - [57]
