Rewrite of page
As well as the fact that this page has two warning templates (for 'Advertisement' and 'one source'), most of the content appears to have been copied verbatim from the museum's home page which is a copyright violation (and in of Wikipedia's terms).
I am therefore re-writing this page and expect to have this published by the weekend of 11/12 February.

- @Blammy1: Wow, I've just had a sticky beak at your sandbox, it looks pretty good, great job! If you're available, could you please add as much of the info from it as possible directly into this article and fix up the stuff that would be out of place?
- One thing, I would probably get rid of the exhibits section with the zone things, I think it's a bit too much, I don't think Wikipedia is meant to serve as a travel guide or floorplan per se for a museum. But other than that, thank you for your hard work! Fork99 (talk) 09:08, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
- Note that content from User:Blammy1/sandbox was copied over in this diff: Special:Diff/1169755814. Fork99 (talk) 02:43, 11 August 2023 (UTC)
Rework of QM pages coming (Aug 2025)
FYI, in the next few weeks the Queensland Museum article and child articles
- Museum of Tropical Queensland → QM Tropics,
- Cobb & Co Museum → QM Cobb+Co,
- Workshops Rail Museum → QM Railway Workshops,
- Museum of Lands, Mapping and Surveying, and
- QM navbox
will be going through revision, with reliable sources. Also updating the relevant rows in List of museums in Queensland and Brisbane. Feel free to update, but aware of another editor preparing material to update article structure and contents relevance.–Q8682 (talk) 10:30, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
Requested move 29 August 2025
- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: moved. Per namechanges. – robertsky (talk) 14:09, 21 September 2025 (UTC)
Workshops Rail Museum → Queensland Museum Rail Workshops – Queensland Museum has renamed the provincial museums to have consistent branding. Q8682 (talk) 10:30, 29 August 2025 (UTC)— Relisting. Tenshi! (Talk page) 13:53, 5 September 2025 (UTC)
- Note: I have removed the second proposal "Queensland Museum Rail Workshops → Workshops Rail Museum" because "Queensland Museum Rail Workshops" is a redirect, and redirects are ineligible to be current titles in move requests. If this proposal succeeds, the current title will be moved to the new title and will automatically become a redirect to the new title. @Paine Ellsworth: thanks, I shamelessly stole your wording from another RM note you did. Fork99 (talk) 10:49, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- Comment: There are simultaneous RMs for the Queensland Museum's other two regional museums at Talk:Museum of Tropical Queensland#Requested move 28 August 2025 and Talk:Cobb & Co Museum#Requested move 29 August 2025. Fork99 (talk) 10:54, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- Explicitly mentioning that I am citing WP:CONSISTENT, which should be considered in tandem with WP:COMMONNAME below. Fork99 (talk) 04:32, 13 September 2025 (UTC)
- The "common name" policy applies to article titles, so the museum's rebranding isn't a reason to change the article titles right now (but it's fine to create redirects using the new brand names). Over time, either people will start using the museum's preferred names, or they won't. If the rebranded names (collectively or individually) become the common name, then it's time to change the name. - Forgot to add the link WP:COMMONNAME Kerry (talk) 00:17, 9 September 2025 (UTC)
- Support. Independent sources appear to be using the new name: Courier Mail, RACQ, River94.9, Local Ipswich News. It would seem to pass the bar of WP:NAMECHANGES to me. Tomiĉo (talk) 09:19, 12 September 2025 (UTC)
