Year of birth 1985

His year of birth is given as 1985 by two citations presently on the page: asia.eurosport.com and int.soccerway.com. Any counterclaim of a different YOB must have verifiable support, and possibly account for the discrepancy with other sources, e.g. an interview with the subject. New reference for correct date of birth for Yves Ekwalla Hermann

Please check the official page of Yves Ekwalla Herman(n) as a reference for his correct date of birth. Correct date of birth should be 05.09.1990. I have contacted Deborajay about the isssue.

We now have seen three websites and two different years of birth. How can we know which date is correct, and which website has authoritative information? Aside from Transfermarkt.com being a large site and owned by the established publisher Axel Springer SE, we can't know that its information is more correct than the two others. The doubt also arises because the Transfermarkt "official" page you cite here gives two different versions of the player's name! (Above: #9 Hermann Ekwalla; below: Yves Hermann Ekwala.) Previous information in the player's Wikidata item from Soccerway gives first name: Yves, last name: Ekwalla (without Herman/n). As neither of these match the order of the name of the Wikipedia page (Yves Ekwalla Herman) - all is unclear: which is the first name or names? Which name or names is the family name? This is equally important to clarifying the birth year. What I can do now:

Add the alternate year of birth, with source, to the article and the Wikidata item
Add the alternate spellings and order of names to the article and the Wikidata item

@Cgnon1986:, if you have authoritative information, can you arrange for the name and birthdate correction in the three websites mentioned on this page? That is what Wikipedia needs: verifiable information from reliable, accessible sources. Correct date of birth

Hello Deborah, Thank you so much for clarifying the steps that we need to undertake to make a change to his name. I can provide a copy of birth certificate or passport. I can also arrange for you to speak with the individual himself.

Please be advised that the correct spelling for his name is: Yves Hermann (first name) / Ekwalla (last name)

@Cgnon1986: Wikipedia should not be using legal documents as a source for a date of birth; see WP:BLPPRIMARY. The information should really be coming from a published secondary source. —C.Fred (talk) 20:12, 10 February 2017 (UTC)

@Cgnon1986: the way to end the discrepancies of year of birth and name spelling, is to do so first on the two websites that appear on the Wikipedia page: asia.eurosport.com and int.soccerway.com. Those still show the incorrect information. As User:C.Fred says, most helpful would be a published secondary source (= not the primary source, the person himself), that's accessible to verify. -- Deborahjay (talk) 20:44, 10 February 2017 (UTC)

@Cgnon1986: Because that article is not dated, it's hard to infer the age. We don't know at what point in time he was 26. —C.Fred (talk) 21:33, 10 February 2017 (UTC)

@C.Fred: Okay, I understand, however please note that the article was written sometimes in October 2016 and can be seen as reposted on the player personal facebook page
