Trnje (pronounced [ˈtəɾnjɛ]; German: Ternje[3][4]) is a former settlement in the Municipality of Brežice in eastern Slovenia, close to the border with Croatia. It is now part of the town of Brežice. The area is part of the traditional region of Styria. It is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Lower Sava Statistical Region.[5]
Trnje is a settlement between the roads from Brežice to Bizeljsko and Dobova. It borders Brežice to the west, to the east it is bordered by Gabrnica Creek, and to the south it extends to the Sava River. The soil is gravelly, and there are fertile fields south of the village, which are subject to flooding when the Sava rises.[1][2]
