Outside of mathematics, I enjoy playing board games, swimming, and hiking. I am particularly interested in improving Wikipedia’s coverage of mathematicians and universities connected to Alabama, as well as writing articles about notable people and places I encounter while traveling.
Articles created
Below is a selection of Wikipedia articles I have created on academics (primarily mathematicians):
- Jayadev Athreya – American mathematician (1983-)
- Claudia Spiro – American mathematician (1956–2023)
- Dean G. Hoffman – American mathematician (1949–2022)
- Charles C. Lindner – American mathematician (1938–2023)
- Albert Arnold Bennett Jr. – American mathematician (1888–1971)
- Charles Richard Saunders – American Chemist (1902–1981)
- William Vann Parker – American mathematician (1901–1987)
Planned articles
I plan to create articles on the following individuals:
- Fred A. Lewis — American mathematician who taught at the University of Alabama
- Marko Saric — American mathematician from North Carolina and former Jeopardy! contestant
- Tiziana Giorgi — Chair of the Department of Mathematics at the University of Alabama
Articles on universities in Alabama needing improvement
This is a list of improvements that I plan on working on for universities throughout Alabama. Right now, I am limiting it to 4+ year institutions. Most university student life section appears that they may need to be rechecked and improved. Campus sections can benefit from images showing campus. Many articles may feature notable alumni but fail to mention notable faculty and staff. It appears that there may be enough reliable sources to create an article on Richard Shelby impact on pork barreling funds to Alabama universities for STEM disciplines and having buildings named after him.[1]
