| For your work on the Dhofar rebellion and improving coverage of Oman-related articles |
Abu Isa 🇴🇲 15:11, 27 July 2026 (UTC)
- @Abu Isa Thank you so much! The Dhofar rebellion is, to me, one of the most interesting and poorly covered topics on Wikipedia (and anywhere online honestly) and I'm planning on continuing to improve the article. I have received some books from a YSP member who has kept a small but really cool archive with him and was nice enough to hand me those books, so expect more work from me on that article :) 𐩣𐩫𐩧𐩨 Abo Yemen (𓃵) 05:47, 5 August 2026 (UTC)

DCWC August update
The 2026 Developing Countries WikiContest has been running for a month now, so let's check in with the competition so far!
As of the time of writing, our top contestants are:
Vanderwaalforces (submissions) ahead of the pack with 715 points, with two FAs and many GAs on the monarchs of the Kingdom of Benin;- Simongraham (submissions) with 291 points, mostly with GAs on jumping spiders, alongside various GAN and FAC reviews;
- Jaguarnik (submissions) with 240 points, mostly from an FA on the 1945 film Ivan the Terrible;
Grnrchst (submissions) with 215 points, mostly from GAs on anarchist history in various countries, alongside many GA reviews, and;
Vestrian24Bio (submissions) tied for 4th with 215 points, with an FL and four GAs on Indian cricket!
These competitors are in the lead, but if past experience is any indication, big shake-ups might still await us in the contest. If you're looking for a way to boost your position, we got a table of review requests from fellow participants—you can rack up a lot of points through reviews, and it might just convince others to review your own nominations! You can also look through the eligible reviews page to find other articles to review, with highlights for articles eligible for the 1.5× multiplier. The coordinators would like to thank Jaguarnik (submissions) for his work to keep this page up to date.
Thank you so much for all your work in the contest so far, dear participants, and keep on the good fight against systemic bias on our wiki! Have any questions? Leave a message on the contest talk page or send it to one of our wonderful coordinators: Arconning (talk · contribs), Generalissima (talk · contribs), Magentic Manifestations (talk · contribs), sawyer777 (talk · contribs), and TechnoSquirrel69 (talk · contribs). Help with a project
Hey @Abo Yemen, I'm currently working on a draft for the embassy of the United States in Sanaa (as I know you've seen). I want to move it to mainspace at a GA-level right off the bat and move on to other projects but I've reached a bit of a roadblock on content for the 21st century, and I would rather add a dedicated section for attacks and the like (which said century is filled with). I was wondering if you would like to help contribute to this section or anywhere else on the article. It's also fine if you aren't interested. Hsnkn (talk) 02:12, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
- Hello @Hsnkn! Great work on the draft that you've made. What kind of help do you need? Is it finding sources or just writing in general? I'm currently working on PDRY-related content, but Ill see if I can help u in any way. (On an unrelated note, I think that you're the most qualified person to write the History of Yemen (1990–2011) article) 𐩣𐩫𐩧𐩨 Abo Yemen (𓃵) 05:57, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
Offer
Would you like to help me get Yemen branded as a WP:GA? I saw that you were making lots of necessary edits and you also commented on the peer review. Thank you for your help so far! HerrHeulsuse (talk) 22:17, 8 August 2026 (UTC)

Organized Labour September Editing Event

You're invited to join the Organized Labour community editing event, a cross-wiki event taking place throughout September 2026!
The campaign brings together Wikimedians interested in improving coverage of organised labour, workers, trade unions, and labour history. We have confirmed collaborations with Wikipedia language editions in English, Dutch, Persian, Serbo-Croatian and French. If you want to add other language editions or other wiki projects you are strongly encouraged to do so! This event spans geography and languages!
This is a one-time invitation. You're receiving it because you previously signed a petition related to Wiki Workers United (WWU). We hope you'll join us!
Reminder about the PFLP Article
Hi Abo Yemen, this is a reminder to please add the sources you claim exist supporting your categorization of the PFLP as a left-wing organization, as opposed to just claiming they exist. While I do trust you that these sources do exist given your long seemingly spotless history, if you don't add the sources the change would have to be reverted per Wikipedia policy.

Funny image
I went through your contributions and noticed this

. The portraits of Lenin and Engels look good, with some personality, but Marx looks like a recovering opioid addict who has stopped talking his schizophrenia medicine. HerrHeulsuse (talk) 18:41, 21 August 2026 (UTC)
Flag of Jordan
I agree that the flag of Jordan that you removed has a star that is larger than its construction sheet, but I will just say that it seems to be quite common for the flags used within Jordan. That image really does represent the kind of flag you will see used. ~ Misha Vargas (talk | contribs) 23:43, 21 August 2026 (UTC)
