Question from Rockawaypoint (06:43, 16 March 2026)

Hi, I have not done anything at all on Wikipedia in a long time after having an 'experience' last year over the topic of "Vinland", and the debate over its location. Could you please help me figure out where things stand today? Many thanks. --Rockawaypoint (talk) 06:43, 16 March 2026 (UTC)

Hi Rockawaypoint, do you mean learning about Wikipedia in general, or specifically about that topic? Sorry to hear you feel discouraged. Alextejthompson (Ping me or leave a message on my talk page) 18:07, 21 March 2026 (UTC)
About a year ago I was attempting to add information about New England's role in the long running debate over Vinland's location, but some people had a conflicting view and wanted to see sites in Canada 'take priority' in a manner of speaking. Yet most academics believe Vinland was in New England, even though proof has not been found yet. I was "restricted" in some way from posting, but just on that one subject I believe. Could you tell me where things stand today? What restriction may be in place today - if any? It's really odd that the New England theory, which is so well established, is so opposed by many people on Wikipedia. Rockawaypoint (talk) 18:46, 21 March 2026 (UTC)
I have submitted an draft article for review. Subject ... Johannes Kr. Tornoe, Norwegian author and marine historian. What happens now?? Rockawaypoint (talk) 17:12, 31 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from 97.Përçêñt (16:59, 17 March 2026)

Hiya. I have a question on editing, as I'm pretty new to this stuff. How do I link things? Like when the word "Molasses" gets highlighted in blue, and clicking on it brings you to the site for Molasses? --97.Përçêñt (talk) 16:59, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

Hi 97.Përçêñt, you can link using [[these brackets]]. Alextejthompson (Ping me or leave a message on my talk page) 14:44, 21 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from Danshiels (14:38, 21 March 2026)

Is it possible to add Family History Biographies here? --Danshiels (talk) 14:38, 21 March 2026 (UTC)

Hi Danshiels, we do biographies here but there are various rules regulating them, which I can help with. Who are you planning to write about? Alextejthompson (Ping me or leave a message on my talk page) 18:04, 21 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from Haru Rumei (13:30, 26 March 2026)

I made some edits to a page that was flagged for being too technical. Did my best to simplify the language a bit and add internal links to many words so the whole thing is hopefully more understandable. Should I notify someone so they can double-check if the page is indeed more readable or can I just remove the flag myself? --Haru Rumei (talk) 13:30, 26 March 2026 (UTC)

Hi Haru Rumei, what article is it? Alextejthompson (Ping me or leave a message on my talk page) 20:26, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
RNA velocity. Tried my best, there is only that much you can do to make such a specific topic clearer. Maybe needs a total overhaul, the whole article looks more like comparison of bioinformatics tools than a page on RNA velocity itself. But as I am new I am still a bit afraid to touch too much. Question from Jwhitemusic123 (01:23, 29 March 2026)

Hi there! I hope all is well. I’m trying to create an article about a well-known cellist and was wondering how to start that process. Thank you! --Jwhitemusic123 (talk) 01:23, 29 March 2026 (UTC)

Hi Jwhitemusic123, have you written a draft? What is the title? I could have a look at it. Alextejthompson (Ping me or leave a message on my talk page) 20:27, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
Thank you for the quick response! I’m reaching out to ask if you might be willing to take a look at a draft Wikipedia article about the cellist Tommy Mesa and advise on whether it would meet current notability and sourcing standards. I’ve done my best to base the draft entirely on independent, reliable sources (The Strad, Strings Magazine, The Boston Globe, and PBS Great Performances), and to keep the tone neutral and encyclopedic. I can provide those news links if you’d like them. Here’s the draft:
Tommy Mesa is an American cellist recognized for his work as a soloist and chamber musician. He is a recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant and has performed with orchestras and in recital series across North America.
== Early life and education ==
Mesa studied at the Manhattan School of Music, the Juilliard School, and Northwestern University.
== Career ==
Mesa’s career was launched as the winner of the senior division of the 2016 Sphinx Competition, a national competition for Black and Latino string players in the United States.
He has appeared as a soloist with orchestras in the United States and Canada, including engagements with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and New Jersey Symphony.
He has appeared in recital at venues and series including the Schubert Club, the Phillips Collection, Chamber Music Pittsburgh, and the University of Vermont Lane Series.
An active chamber musician, Mesa is a frequent collaborator with artists including Olga Kern, Michelle Cann, Ilya Yakushev, Greg Zelek, and JP Jofre.
== Recordings ==
I can get a list of these, there’s several. One is with Deutsche Gramophon.
== Instrument ==
Mesa performs on a cello made in 1767 by the Gagliano family, on loan from the Canimex collection. Jwhitemusic123 (talk) 05:51, 6 April 2026 (UTC)
