Viability of an Article on Sexualization of Women in video games

1st good news the Blood Rain article got ranked as starter :D As I was doing research for Blood Rain I was reminded that over the years there have been a series of controversies surrounding sexualization of women in video over the years. I was wondering if it would be notable to have an article on either sexualization of women in video games, or controversies surrounding individual female character designs in video games. But I've also realized that if a page on this topic does not exist despite it being widely know for years, there likely is a good reason it doesn’t exist. Do you know a good place where I could discuss this with relevant editors? And also here are the main arguments I’ve come up for and against such an article:

For: There does not appear to be a centralized article on sexualization, at least to match the depth that the argument has evolved over the years (it's likely I just haven't looked hard enough), though it is mentioned in the following articles Gender representation in video games, Sexual content in video games, Women and video games

I have already found three articles with that contain sections, on negative/positive reactions to a female characters sexualization that could be the starting point for such an article. Considering the potential similarities between controversies, it would make sense to group them into one article that provided commentary on the topic as a whole.

Against: While consolidation of information on sexualization of women in video games may be notable, controversies around individual character designs likely are not. Individual controversies are not particularly interesting and likely don't meet notability requirements outside the context of their own articles as most controversies are relatively brief and follow a similar format. An article on said controversies would either look like a list of brief 1 paragraphs for each controversy, or would attempt to provide some commentary on their relation. But these controversies are all unrelated, and assuming not enough credible media has done any research connection them (which is likely the case as they are separate and unrelated), any 'commentary' on their relation to each other would fall into original research and likely violate neutral POV as well. Such article could however be notable if only a few such controversies were provided as examples and the rest of the article broadly talked on the subject of female sexualization in video games. Also, If such article were to exist it would certainly be the subject of both intense vandalism and scrutiny due to it's highly partisan and controversial nature. Hello hello! Apologies for the much belated response! I think such an article would be pretty solid and useful, however lengthy and complicated to write. I encourage you to perhaps ask a few other users to take up a draft with you, perhaps at the women or video games wikiproject pages!
Cheers! ⚠︎ ArkadenBoden ⚠︎ (talk) 20:28, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
no worries for the belatedness! I've undertaken other shenagians in the mean time, could I get a quick opinion on a second one? This article right here, 2 of the sources are primary 4 are secondary though honestly there really isn't much secondary information at the time being and someone on the tree house recommended I should probably move it back to my user space under Wikipedia:TOSOON (especially cause the secondary information is quite scarce and I've honestly stretched it thin grasping at foreign articles and articles by random small news organizations) Wik206 (talk) 02:15, 26 June 2026 (UTC)
I agree with the Wikipedian over at the tree. The sources aren't necessarily bad, but the article would much be improved when more sources cover it. It shouldn't take long, maybe a few days, given the studio already released a well-liked title.
Cheers! ⚠︎ ArkadenBoden ⚠︎ (talk) 20:55, 26 June 2026 (UTC)
Thanks! I've moved the page back into my user sandbox as the game has been in development since 2022 so unfortunately it's unlikely to get any updates/new coverage anytime soon. I'll move it back into main space whenever it's covered by more sources. I'll also work on cleaning up the mess I've left behind. Thanks! Wik206 (talk) 21:18, 26 June 2026 (UTC)

Question from Allora Valmont (06:17, 24 June 2026)

Please restore my draft of the Biography I'd created. This is NOT for advertisement or promotional purposes, it's just a biography page just like any other on Wikipedia. Wikipedia has been horribly confusing and no one has sent me a formal email explaining what the problem is. I was only sent generic links that didn't specify what content was triggering your incorrect flags of "spam" and "advertisement". Allora Valmont (talk) 06:17, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

FWIW, I've explained in detail twice on this (declared) paid editors's talk page why the article was deleted, but so far @Allora Valmont: seems to see the issue as my incompetence rather than anything they've failed to do Jimfbleak - talk to me? 11:10, 27 June 2026 (UTC)

Question from Fernsandbread (18:00, 24 June 2026)

By the way, since this morning, for Atleast iphone users, I keep seeing random pictures at the start above the title and I don’t know why, in my opinion, I think it’s very annoying --Fernsandbread (talk) 18:00, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

Not sure why that's happening. Try seeing what you can do with Phabricator at Wikipedia:Bug reports and feature requests :. Follow the steps there. Mediawiki also has a "how to report a bug" guide that is also linked on that page.
I hope this helps! ⚠︎ ArkadenBoden ⚠︎ (talk) 20:43, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

Question from ViridisAC (18:53, 24 June 2026)

Note: ViridisAC's mentor HarvardJock is away.

ArkadenBoden I have the Chinese version of the George Westinghouse entry ready. Need to upload it. But my email confirmation didn't arrive at my inbox of the registered email address, Should I wait for the confirmation email before Starting? --ViridisAC (talk) 18:53, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

To my knowledge, you don't have to wait to confirm your email to upload anything or do editing on Wikipedia! Sorry for the late-ish response. Cheers! ⚠︎ ArkadenBoden ⚠︎ (talk) 20:40, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

Question from ViridisAC (18:57, 24 June 2026)

Note: ViridisAC's mentor HarvardJock is away.

Hello, HarvardJock and ArkadenBoden, Thanks for mentoring. I couldn't get any email from Wikipedia to my email inbox after a few attempts and nothing in the Spam folder for email confirmation. Can you help? Thanks. --ViridisAC (talk) 18:57, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

Hmm. I think it could be a few things;
1. A professional email address might have a firewall that filtered it out on accident. If you're using a work email, use a personal one.
2. Perhaps it was entered incorrectly or formatted incorrectly when you first entered it? Check that in your settings (you probably already have—my apologies)
Hope this helps?

Question from AAMonzonC (17:12, 1 July 2026)

Hi, I am brand new to the contributing.

I do have some useful info to add and I am seriously obssessed with the truth but I have the impression that is not easy to contribute with pieces of history that are not referenced anywhere else. Example, Cuban Hip-Hop topic. It looks like the government was the main supporter when it was the opposite. The article is lacking tones of important parts, specially the one releated to the independent groups that supported the Cuban rap. I don't know how to include some facts if they are not referenced because those people were banned.

Also very confused about my own name. As far as I read here, I cannot write about myself and I am the one who knows more about my history.

Please help me understand so I can move on and contribute. --AAMonzonC (talk) 17:12, 1 July 2026 (UTC)

Hello! Apologies for the late response.
1. For fixing up tone, you can base your edits off of MOS:TONE. For the rest, all you need are reliable sources. When it comes to music, it can be more difficult to find them. Wikiproject Albums has a pretty solid, comprehensive list of sources for music related things here.
3. You can write about yourself, you just have to be careful. First, you have to declare your conflict of interest. That link has information on how to do that. If you're changing minor things, like your birth date, adding something new (if you're a musician, something like a new entry on your discography with a source) or spelling errors, those changes shouldn't be reverted unless you don't include sources.
Much love, rock on! ⚠︎ ArkadenBoden ⚠︎ (talk) 10:25, 10 July 2026 (UTC)

Changing an image on a page

Hello, I have almost no experience editing wikipedia. On this page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genesee_County%2C_Michigan there is a logo for the county from like 2010. it was changed in 2020. I uploaded the current logo to wikimedia and edited the link, but I noted it said I cannot replace the image. Who can do that? How do I get this done? Thanks Kkoleda (talk) 16:21, 6 July 2026 (UTC)

@Kkoleda Hey Kkoleda, I believe in order to upload images you need to be Wikipedia:AUTOC (I could be wrong). You will become an auto confirmed user once you have made ten edits. Once you have that you can hit edit on the page, hit edit on the info box then replace the name of the current image with the name of the image you want to put in. Make sure to also check out Wikipedia:Image use policy if you haven't already. If you still can't get the image replaced, I can do it for you if you want if you give me the name of the image you want replaced and image you want it replaced with. Otherwise try again when you have ten edits on the wiki. Feel free to respond for any further questions. Also checkout Wikipedia:Teahouse for help with any questions. Wik206 (talk) 21:30, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
That should be it yes! Apologies for my lack of response. I've been busy this summer. But yes, once you're auto confirmed you should be able to do it. If you still can't, an extended confirmed user (500+ edits, certain account age I'm currently forgetting) might be able to. If that's the case, send me a message and I'll take care of that for you. Also big thanks to you Wik for helping out here. I'm typically much more active than this but as you see I've been away for a while. I'll probably hop back to it in August…
Much love and rock on to you both ⚠︎ ArkadenBoden ⚠︎ (talk) 02:56, 12 July 2026 (UTC)

Question from AAMonzonC (19:36, 12 July 2026)

Hi again!

I created Draft:TalentoCubano.net and disclosed that I am its founder. Before submitting it for Articles for Creation review, could you please check whether the tone, citations, and evidence of notability appear ready, and point out any obvious problems?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:TalentoCubano.net

Thank you. --AAMonzonC (talk) 19:36, 12 July 2026 (UTC)

Hello. I am a less experienced user I just happen to be a page stalker so take everything I say with a grain of salt. Primary sources need careful use Wikipedia:PRIMARYCARE (see last paragraph on businesses) but to the best of my knowledge the way you use them (citing objective information) appears to be correct so there's nothing to worry about there. What does concern me a little is the amount of unique sources you have reporting on it, it might be a concern for notability if there's not a lot of reporting on it (maybe?). I would also recommend posting this to the teahouse. ArkadenBoden can also probably give you a better response whenever they check in, they've just been a little busy. Wik206 (talk) 02:23, 13 July 2026 (UTC)
Thank you very much!
How do I post it to the teahouse? AAMonzonC (talk) 04:01, 13 July 2026 (UTC)
Sorru I forgot to link it! Wikipedia:Teahouse
Just add a section there. Teahouse is basically a centralized help space for new editors to ask questions which I recommend you use in combination with help of your mentor. Wik206 (talk) 04:24, 13 July 2026 (UTC)
thank you very much again AAMonzonC (talk) 00:00, 14 July 2026 (UTC)
any time. Also, some bad news for you unfortunately apparently there's a large backlog at articles for creation (saw someone at the teahouse whose page hasn't been reviewed on over three months) so you might want to consider submitting what you have and just continuing to improve it while you wait for it to get reviewed. The reason it takes so long for articles to get reviewed is because there are a limited amount of volunteers and a lot of articles and there not reviewed in the order they're submitted (some users review ones on subject matter their interested in, a smaller amount try to make sure they all get reviewed). Don't be discouraged though! It will eventually be reviewed. Continue to post here or on the tea house with further questions. Wik206 (talk) 00:06, 14 July 2026 (UTC)
I was prepared for long waiting, but I don't really understand what happen if it gets denied after some volunteer review it.
Do I have to continue improving and try again or the first decision is final?
AAMonzonC (talk) 00:57, 14 July 2026 (UTC)
Firstly I'll speak generally on page creation. Once a page is created then deleted it can be recreated unless if it's salted which is a restriction put in place preventing its recreation if someone keeps abusing the creation process of an article that's been repeatedly deleted. Salting and deletions of articles can both be contested. Articles that have been deleted, if recreated should address the reasons behind the initial deletion or they'll just be immediately deleted again. I'm not familiar with AFCs but from my research you can be accepted, declined or rejected. If your declined you can resubmit and fix the original issues. This paragraph explains rejections
If your draft has been rejected, you are not encouraged to resubmit and will not see a "submit" button on the template. Reviewers decline drafts if they do not presently meet Wikipedia's guidelines. Reviewers reject drafts only if it is unlikely that they will ever meet those guidelines; for example, if the topic is not relevant for the encyclopedia, or if the draft is spam. A topic that is not notable, however, may later become notable. source
Also check out Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Draft decline or reject help Wik206 (talk) 01:47, 14 July 2026 (UTC)
Creation and deletion of entire articles is a separate process that isn't really relevant as far as AfC. Since they're working on a COI subject and need to go through that, they're free to continue working on and resubmit any draft that's been declined, up to and including rewriting the entire thing from scratch if they feel like it. Deletion will only come into play if there are severe issues that admins feel justify a WP:TNT approach, which doesn't happen too often, or if a draft has been abandoned for six months. I believe those can still be retrieved by request. ChompyTheGogoat (talk) 15:04, 15 July 2026 (UTC)
It sounds less scary that I thought. Thank you very much! AAMonzonC (talk) 15:27, 15 July 2026 (UTC)

You're invited to the Mentorship noticeboard

Hi, ArkadenBoden. You are cordially invited to the Wikipedia:Mentorship noticeboard. I get the impression sometimes that we mentors are each toiling in our own backyard, quietly answering mentee questions with little to no interaction with other mentors. I think we have a lot to share and learn from each other, and and that's what the board is for. I realize you are away for a bit, but that's okay; your input would be valuable. Please take the the § Survey when you get there. Looking forward to hearing your feedback! Mathglot (talk) 00:24, 26 July 2026 (UTC)

Question from Alizardbreath (23:03, 31 July 2026)

Hello. I've been getting comfortable making edits on existing Wikipedia pages. I've made 10 edits thus far. I noticed today that the 20th century poet, Edith Brown Mirick does not have a Wikipedia page even though she is mentioned on an existing page. Am I able to create a page for her or do I need to make more edits? This is where she is mentioned: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanka_in_English Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you- Amy --Alizardbreath (talk) 23:03, 31 July 2026 (UTC)

Hey AlizardBreath, your account meets all the requirements for creating an article. When creating an article Wikipedia:Notability is of major concern for knowing wether or not an subject should have an article. You should also be familar with other main policies like neutral point of view when starting an article. You should be able to instantly publish a page, but if you don't feel confident you can submit a draft for review and then a more experienced editor can take a look at it later. Refer to this Help:Your first article. It is generally recommended you have more experience before you start an article[citation needed], but honestly one of my first edits was an creating an article and I think a lot of other people do as well. Above all Wikipedia values boldness though so if you want to do this just go and do it. Worse case scenario your article will be nominated for speedy deletion if it doesn't meet Wikipedia's standards. If have have any more questions or need help with anything feel free to reply. If you make a draft and want me to take a look at it as well I can. Wik206 (talk) 05:23, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
