User talk:Ardalan79

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Welcome!

Hello, Ardalan79, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you created or edited appears to be an article (or draft of an article) about yourself. Writing about yourself is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians.

As this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. We require individuals to meet Wikipedia's definition of a notable person to accept articles about them. A page you created about yourself may well be deleted from the encyclopedia. If it is deleted and you wish to retrieve its contents, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

If your contributions to an existing article about yourself are undone and you wish to add to or change it, please propose the changes on its talk page.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Ahmad Ardalan page discussion

as mentioned there are links with articles from universities about my work. This is not a promotional page. This is enough about my The Author that has many novels and sold in more that forty countries with more that 100,000 copies. Ardalan79 (talk) 16:47, 28 October 2025 (UTC)

Following on from the comments on my talk page:

You appear to be writing the article backwards. Find independent verifiable sources first and write text based on what they say. Don't write the text in the vague hope you can find references later.

You appear to have written your text with a LLM such as ChatGPT, please don't do that, unchecked AI text will be deleted.

You have an obvious conflict of interest, please don't write about yourself, and read the guidance below:

  • When you write about a person, you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that they meet the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the person or an associated organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the person claims or interviewing them. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls.
  • You had no inline references at all, so we can't verify what you claim. Without verification, you can't establish notability as described in the link above.
  • You had a list of bare urls at the bottom, no idea which facts, if any, they are supposed to support.
  • Publications written by you should be listed as such, in a separate section if preferred, with no references for the items. They should not be used as references either, since by definition they are not independent third-party sources as required here. Details should include year, publisher and isbn if relevant.
  • Note that book sales alone are not a criterion of notability, nor are reviews on, say, Goodreads.
  • You must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews.
  • Unsourced claims presented as fact include one of the most widely read English-language novels written by an Iraqi author... it achieved commercial success. At one point, the novel ranked ninth overall on Amazon, with Ardalan briefly listed as the third highest-ranking author, ahead of figures such as Stephen King and Paulo Coelho... The novel has since sold more than 70,000 copies worldwide and has received thousands of ratings across platforms including Amazon... making it one of the most successful English-language novels by an Iraqi author.
  • There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
  • You have multiple links to inappropriate sites like Goodreads and YouTube
  • You must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.
  • I didn't check
  • Not reasons for deletion, but you have no wikilinks, such as Vienna, Baghdad or dentistry, and you haven't italicised book titles.

Before attempting to write an article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources. Also read Your first article. If you are writing about yourself, you have a conflict of interest, and you must disclose the nature of that COI. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 09:29, 29 October 2025 (UTC)

Feedback
The reviewer, Theroadislong, left the following feedback:
This draft's references do not show that the person meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion for people. The draft requires multiple published secondary sources that:
  • provide significant coverage: discuss the person in detail, not brief mentions or interviews lacking independent analysis;
  • are reliable: from reputable outlets with editorial oversight;
  • are independent: not connected to the person, such as interviews, press releases, the subject's own website, or sponsored content.
Please add references that meet all three of these criteria. If none exist, the subject is not yet suitable for Wikipedia.

Speedy deletion nomination of User:Ardalan79

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:Ardalan79, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Contested deletion

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... (your reason here) --Ardalan79 (talk) 19:15, 15 March 2026 (UTC)

It is your user page, please read WP:USERPAGE for what is allowed there, it is NOT a space for a draft article. Theroadislong (talk) 19:18, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
Read and followed guidelines by adding the three academic studies and well as the interview with the most prominent Iraqi TV channel, and the publication with Lebanon Today.

Contested deletion

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... (your reason here) --Ardalan79 (talk) 20:26, 15 March 2026 (UTC)

After reading the admin’s point I have corrected the points mentioned Removed unsourced biography and added three academic sources analysing The Gardener of Baghdad.

Your contested deletion above seems to be for your user page. Above on your talk page, you have been given guidance on what is permitted on your user page. Nonetheless, you have created a user page that does not meet user page guidelines. To reinforce the issue, I'm adding a section below on these guidelines. ERcheck (talk) 23:08, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
