Your submission at Articles for creation: Per Mar Security Services (July 23)

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Theroadislong was:
This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

Help me!

Please help me with... Hi, my article was rejected due to being too biased. Could someone please help identify the points in which there are bias so I am able to make changes? I tried to model the page after other Security Companies like ADT and Vector. Ejhpm (talk) 19:09, 23 July 2025 (UTC)

You disclosed a COI, what is the general nature of it?
See other stuff exists. Though understandable, it is a poor idea to use any random article as a model or example, as it too could be inappropriate and you would be unaware of this. If you want to use other articles as a model, use those that are classified as good articles. 331dot (talk) 19:13, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for the link to the good articles page - I was not aware of this and will review some of the relevant pages. I largely used ADT and Vector as models as they are in the same industry as the topic, and I assumed their general topics met a threshold of neutrality and could be purposed for this article.
My COI is that I am employed by the company. Ejhpm (talk) 19:18, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
Thank you, that means that you must make the stricter paid editing disclosure instead of a COI disclosure. Your salary as an employee is sufficient to trigger this requirement, it does not require specific payment for editing. I would also suggest that you read WP:BOSS, and have your superiors/colleagues read it too. 331dot (talk) 19:26, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
Thank you very much, I will make that change to my user page. And thank you for sharing that page as well; I've discussed several of these points with the group which requested the article, but will share this with them as well.
Once changing my user page, am I free to re-submit? Or are there specific changes you would recommend? Ejhpm (talk) 19:33, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
So I am going to tell you what I tell many in your position. You are telling us what the company wants us to know about it, like its offerings, activities, and what it considers to be its own history. That's the wrong approach. You should be summarizing what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about your company, showing how it is a notable company. "Largest family owned company in the Midwest" might qualify, if most independent sources discuss that aspect of the company and what makes it significant. Does it have a particular influence in its industry for that reason? Something like that?
Routine business activities like acquisitions of competitors doesn't contribute to notability, per WP:ORGDEPTH. Awards don't contribute to notability unless the award itself merits an article(like Nobel Peace Prize or Academy Award).
Please see WP:BOSS, and have your superiors/colleagues read it, too. There are also good reasons for a company to not want an article. My advice is to not pursue this further, to be honest. But if you wish to proceed anyway, you'll need to jettison the things that don't contribute to notability and focus on sources that do.
Creating a new article is the most difficult task to perform on Wikipedia, and it's even harder with a conflict of interest. We usually recommend much experience via editing existing articles first before attempting it. 331dot (talk) 19:56, 23 July 2025 (UTC)

The comment the reviewer left was:
It would be nice to have one or two more independent source that talk about the company in-depth. The 1970 reference to the Rock Island Dispatch is the current best source (and also a bizarre read!) Articles that are about acquisitions are considered trivial coverage for organizations, as are minor awards or promotions. The Quad-City times reference is quite brief, and I don't think it meets the bar for significant coverage for organizations either.
