I have sent you a note about a page you started

Hi FromTheElectricComic. Thank you for your work on Doodles (clown). Another editor, Klbrain, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Thanks for this well-written article on an early 20th century circus clown, one of the most influential of his generation in the UK. The modern references, in addition to the contemporary ones, demonstrate his sustained influence.

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Klbrain}}. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

Comedy Carpet

Thanks for creating this interesting article (I spotted it because Gordon Young (artist) is on my watchlist as I created it ages ago.

I've made a few little copy-edits - don't forget that there shouldn't be a space before a reference, and I think I improved the wording of a few sentences which didn't quite hang together. I wasn't quite sure about While the artwork's title, credits and Ken Dodd opening plaque were replaced with a new one adjacent to the structure - a new what? - but simplified it by changing it to While the artwork's title, credits and Ken Dodd opening plaque were replaced adjacent to the structure - you can probably improve on that as you know just what was put to replace the removed bits! Ah, Looking at the ArtUK ref, I can now spot the new panel in the image - I've added a note to point it out to other dim-sighted readers. And perhaps that wording of mine is OK - it looks as if it was indeed the original title/credits panel which was moved. What a travesty to mess around with the work so much, I can imagine the artist being furious. It's not as if the tramlines weren't there when the whole thing was being planned, getting consent from the council, etc! PamD 20:21, 2 March 2026 (UTC)

Hi there,
Thank you for the copyediting, much appreciate looking over things to see if they made (or in this case didn't make sense)! Yeah, I had personally been unsure if the replaced plaque was the original or a copy, as I had observed the blue "Blackpool" lettering had been removed in the new one (plus a few other changes to the placement of the artist credits etc). I didn't want to assume it was the same one when writing it. Thank you for clearing up that sentence and the image caption. :D
I agree with the placement thing: what I especially don't get is you can see in the aerial photos there was plenty space on the headland to move the piece a couple metres to the west (i.e. closer to the sea) which would have avoided the issue altogether. Why its proximity to the tramlines wasn't observed during the planning or construction, I have no idea.
Thanks again! FromTheElectricComic (talk) 20:50, 2 March 2026 (UTC)
