Information icon Hello, I'm Randomdude123459. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Gary Franks, but you didn't provide a reliable source. On Wikipedia, it's important that article content be verifiable. If you'd like to resubmit your change with a citation, your edit is archived in the page history. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you.

Information icon Hello, I'm Aggarwala2727. An edit that you recently made to Gary Franks seemed to be generated using a large language model (an "AI chatbot" or other application using such technology). Text produced by these applications is usually unsuitable for an encyclopedia, and may contain factually inaccurate statements, fictitious citations, or other problems. You should instead read reliable sources and then summarize those in your own words. Your edit may have been reverted. If you want to practice editing, please use your sandbox. If you think a mistake was made, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. aggarwala2727 (talk) 23:55, 4 December 2025 (UTC)

Hi, Aggarwala2727. All language attempting to be added to this page was written by either Gary Franks himself or his copyeditor. No AI was used, not even to copyedit. We have provided reliable sources and citations throughout the article. Please let me know what else needs to be done to get the latest changes to the article published. Hi @GaryAlvin, paid edits to Wikipedia need to be disclosed in advance due to a conflict of interest.
Please read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Paid-contribution_disclosure. aggarwala2727 (talk) 00:08, 5 December 2025 (UTC)

Hello GaryAlvin. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Gary Franks, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:GaryAlvin. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=GaryAlvin|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. aggarwala2727 (talk) 02:51, 9 December 2025 (UTC)

Editing with a conflict of interest

Information icon Hello, GaryAlvin. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.-- Ponyobons mots 00:09, 5 December 2025 (UTC)

Welcome

Hello, GaryAlvin, welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. Your username, GaryAlvin, matches the name of a well-known, living person: Gary Franks. If this account appears to be used for impersonation, it may be blocked under the Wikipedia username policy.

If you are the person represented by this username, please consider the legal consequences and potential for harassment. You may choose to edit under a new username (see information below), but keep in mind that you are welcome to continue to edit under this username.

If you choose to keep your current username, please send an email to info-en@wikimedia.org including your real name and your Wikipedia username to receive instructions from our volunteer response team about account verification. Please do not send documentation without being requested to do so.

If you are not the person represented by this username, you are welcome to choose a new username.

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. Alternatively, you can just create a new account and use that for editing. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why.

Misuse of talk page

How to update your wiki article

Hi @GaryAlvin. I thought I'll try giving you a hopefully easy guide to have your wiki article updated. Note: you're not supposed to update the article yourself.

So...

  1. Go the following page: Talk:Gary Franks.
  2. There, start a new topic. There should be a button somewhere on that page for adding a new topic. The button is usually blue and it has a white plus sign and/or white text that says something like "Add topic". The button is usually either located at the top right corner or at the bottom of the page.
  3. Once you've clicked that button, you'll see two text fields where you can write your text. The upper text field is the header of the thread you're opening. And the lower text field is where you insert the following (i.e. just copy the following and paste it into the text field):
<span class="nowrap"><code>{{edit COI|summary=Add Short summary of requested change here}}</code></span>
* Specific text to be added or removed: <templatestyles src="Kbd/styles.css"></templatestyles><kbd class=" mw-tmpl-kbd"  style="letter-spacing:0.05em; padding-left:0.25em; padding-right:0.2em;background-color: #c6c6c4; color: red;"  >ADD TEXT HERE</kbd>
* Reason for the change: <templatestyles src="Kbd/styles.css"></templatestyles><kbd class=" mw-tmpl-kbd"  style="letter-spacing:0.05em; padding-left:0.25em; padding-right:0.2em;background-color: #c6c6c4; color: red;"  >ADD TEXT HERE</kbd>
* References supporting change: <templatestyles src="Kbd/styles.css"></templatestyles><kbd class=" mw-tmpl-kbd"  style="letter-spacing:0.05em; padding-left:0.25em; padding-right:0.2em;background-color: #c6c6c4; color: red;"  >ADD URL AT LEAST</kbd> {{#parsoid

Add your suggested updates where the above says "ADD TEXT HERE". Nakonana (talk) 16:50, 10 December 2025 (UTC)

Also, it's best to make small update requests. So, one sentence at a time, or one paragraph at a time. Don't make a giant update request to have the whole article updated all at once, because such update requests will not be fulfilled.
For each update request you make, you need to add/open a new separate topic (i.e. click the blue "Add topic" button and copy-paste the text in the box above into the text field). Nakonana (talk) 17:01, 10 December 2025 (UTC)
And here are three examples of successful update requests:
  1. Talk:Julie Andrews#COI edit request: The Great American Mousical
  2. Talk:Tomaž Pisanski#November 2025 Edit Request
  3. Talk:Joni Mitchell#Request edit 2018-06-11
