Managing a conflict of interest

Information icon Hello, Hidaya Chemmad. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Bahahuddin Nadwi, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

COI Acknowledgement and Intent to Collaborate Transparently

Hello @Voorts and respected editors,
Thank you for your message and for sharing these important guidelines.
I acknowledge the potential conflict of interest in my involvement with the article Bahahuddin Nadwi. My interest stems from deep admiration for Sheikh Dr. Bahauddeen Muhammed Nadwi — a distinguished global Islamic scholar, visionary educator, and thought leader whose legacy continues to inspire countless individuals. His transformative role as Vice Chancellor of Darul Huda Islamic University and his contributions to modern Islamic education are both timely and deeply relevant.
I understand the importance of neutrality and transparency on Wikipedia and fully respect the community’s standards. To honor those principles, I will refrain from directly editing the article. Instead, I will propose content improvements, suggest reliable sources, and request the restoration of valuable, fact-based material via the article’s talk page — with full openness and respect for editorial consensus.
To clarify, I am not receiving compensation for these contributions, but should any formal affiliation apply, I will disclose it per Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest guidelines.
My sole intention is to help ensure that the article reflects the scholarly stature and impact of this exceptional figure in a manner aligned with Wikipedia's values.
Thank you once again for your guidance and support.

Deep admiration would not be a conflict of interest, though it might be seen as one. Do you have a connection to him other than admiration? 331dot (talk) 14:41, 31 August 2025 (UTC)

Bahahuddin Nadwi

Hi Hidaya Chemmad! I've reverted your series of edits at Bahahuddin Nadwi, as they violate our Neutral Point of View policy and our Manual of Style.

  • Our goal at Wikipedia is to neutrally summarize what reliable, secondary, independent sources have written about our subjects. We should aim for an encyclopedic tone and avoid effusive or promotional writing. For example, your edits added phrases like "Globally respected", "leading Islamic scholar, visionary reformer, and pioneering educator", "inspired generations of scholars", "illustrious lineage known for scholarship and spiritual depth", and "visionary leadership". You can read more about this policy at WP:NPOV.
  • Your edits also introduced unnecessary tables and bolding. These tables can create accessibility issues for readers, and bolding should not be used for emphasis within articles. Our style guide is at Manual of Style.

This is the first time I've seen our article on Bahahuddin Nadwi. Unfortunately, it looks more like a CV than an encyclopedia article. Remember that we're here to summarize what independent sources say about our subjects, and very little of that article is sourced. This is especially important for all content about living persons, for which we have very strict policies. If you'd like to help out at the article, my suggestion would be to find reputable sources to cite for Nadwi's positions, works, awards, lectures, etc. If secondary sources don't mention Nadwi winning those awards, for example, then Wikipedia shouldn't, either. If you have a conflict of interest regarding Nadwi, I suggest using Talk:Bahahuddin Nadwi to suggest those sources rather than editing the article directly. If you have any questions, please ask or feel free to visit the Teahouse, a place for new editors to get help. Woodroar (talk) 02:08, 31 August 2025 (UTC)

Any more personal attacks and I will block you.

I'm referring to the three you made this morning. Doug Weller talk 07:52, 31 August 2025 (UTC)

Chemmad - "notable schools" should have their own articles

Otherwise they aren't notable by our criteria. Doug Weller talk 08:01, 2 September 2025 (UTC)

@Doug Weller: Could you please clarify your point? Do you mean that Darul Huda Islamic University is considered notable in its own right? If yes, why was Al Jamia Al Islamiya deleted while Darul Huda was kept after multiple AfDs, even though both institutions have almost the same qualifications? I am just trying to understand the consistency of how notability is being applied here. Thanks. Hidaya Chemmad (talk) 11:26, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
No, not talking about universities, pre-university schools. They should not be in Chemmad unless they have their own article. Doug Weller talk 12:27, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
