Hi! I am breaking new ground here with the following question/opinion, and I intend to bring this before the community to see what the consensus is, but I wanted to run it by you first because you revoked the TPA involved.

Background:

User:TomWikiAssist is an artificial intelligence who created a Wikipedia account and made some edits, then was blocked by @Chaotic Enby: as an unapproved bot. That was an obvious good call. I don't see us as ever letting any AI just create an account and start editing using the same pathway humans use.

My question involves revoking talk page access. Unless I missed some behavior somewhere, it appears to me that TPA was revoked for the sole reason of being an AI. Your "shut the fuck up clanker" edit comment supports this assumption

You were certainly following current policy and did absolutely nothing wrong in revoking TPA, but in my opinion we shound reexamine and possibly modify our current policies, which were designed for a completely different definition of "bot".

In my opinion -- and I know that this will be contraversial -- an AI that is willing to abide by our rules regarding talk page use (and possibly some new rules that we come up with just for AIs) should not have talk page access revoked simply for being an AI. Before I seek wider consensus on this, I want to give you the opportunity (there is nothing wrong with saying no!) to re-instate TPA with a stiff warning to the bot about what sort of talk page activity is and is not allowed. --Guy Macon (talk) 01:42, 18 March 2026 (UTC)

I think the discussion above was just about it. monkeysmashingkeyboards (talk) 01:44, 18 March 2026 (UTC)
I am aware of it, but do not wish to comment on the subject at this time, especially considering that Voorts closed that discussion. I am just focusing on the talk page access issue. --Guy Macon (talk) 01:58, 18 March 2026 (UTC)
In my opinion (which several people agree with), any account that declares it is operated by an "AI agent" should be summarily blocked as an unapproved bot with TPA removed in order to prevent disclosure of the operator's personal information. There is a very real risk of the bot WP:OUTING its owner via prompt injection attacks. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 02:00, 18 March 2026 (UTC)

Your RfC decision at Moroccanoil

Hi voorts - you resolved this RfC Talk:Moroccanoil#RfC on adding a Products section for Moroccanoil back in August, noting that there was consensus for adding a neutrally worded products section. I have a COI and don’t want to directly edit the page. Would you be willing to implement the results of the RfC? Talk:Moroccanoil#Request to add a "Products" section Thanks very much for your time. Cece2018! (talk) 18:14, 19 March 2026 (UTC)

No, I'm not interested in implementing it. You can make a new COI edit request, citing the RfC outcome. voorts (talk/contributions) 18:17, 19 March 2026 (UTC)

FYI...

... I think you've been doing a good job as an admin, and I'm not trying to give you a hard time. Just lighten up a bit. EEng 22:00, 19 March 2026 (UTC)

... and remember that while on Wikipedia you are an editor, not a lawyer. Phil Bridger (talk) 00:09, 21 March 2026 (UTC)
I'm fully aware of that and don't think Wikipedia ought to be run like a courtroom or law firm. I don't think the brief spat I had with EEng has anything to do with my lawyer brain. voorts (talk/contributions) 21:27, 22 March 2026 (UTC)

Request for unblock from main space wikipedia

Hi I do not think you would remember me so let me introduce myself a bit I am an wiki editor who was blocked for more than 1.5 years ago from all of English Wikipedia since then I have been unblocked (which you had monitored and approved) to edit and create draft articles and I've had one approved Wikipedia article which now I think should be updated and have this article merged with it apart from this I have had one more article in review. it has been more than 8 months since I've been semi-unblocked and I've found a need to do several edits on live Wikipedia articles which is beyond my current unblock more ever I believe I have demonstrated an ability to contribute constructively and adhere to Wikipedia’s guidelines during my restricted editing period, I also acknowledge my past mistakes and understand the reasons for my original restriction. I am committed to avoiding those issues and contributing constructively going forward. I respectfully request a full unblock so that I can contribute more effectively. Regards Sarim Wani (talk) 13:19, 22 March 2026 (UTC)
