You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for adding spam links. Persistent spammers will have their websites blacklisted from Wikipedia and potentially penalized by search engines.
If you believe that there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:27, 6 January 2026 (UTC)

Request reason:

I apologize for the links I added. I am a new editor and I didn't fully understand Wikipedia's policies regarding external links (WP:EL) and spam. I thought the sources were relevant, but I now realize they may have come across as promotional or inappropriate. I have no intention of using Wikipedia for advertising and I would like a second chance to contribute constructively to the community. If unblocked, I promise to focus on improving content using neutral, high-quality academic sources and to follow the Wikipedia guidelines. Thank you for your time and consideration. Igor Kamber (talk) 16:34, 6 January 2026 (UTC)

Accept reason:

Unblocked (cf. discussion below) with a requirement of going through edit requests for edits related to your clients or other conflicts of interest, and for edits adding external links. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 17:53, 8 January 2026 (UTC)

We want to hear from you, not ChatGPT. See WP:NICETRY. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 12:29, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
Since I am not a native English speaker I only wanted to polish my answer to sound appropriate through the help of AI tool. I apologize for this, it was not a try, it was only my intention to sound more professional and precise.
Anyhow, sorry for spamming, I was not aware that I was doing something wrong. I deserve a permanent ban only if I repeat something similar, not right away.
But, If you believe that I deserve this penalty, I can't do anything about it. I can only promise that I will not violate the rules in the future if you decide to let me edit and publish the content in the future.
Greetings Igor Kamber (talk) 13:51, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
@HJ Mitchell, are you okay with a second chance unblock?
@Igor Kamber, do you have any connection to the websites you have linked to? Additionally, I invite you to read why external links shouldn't be added in the body of the article. Regarding ChatGPT use: Wikipedia admins don't care about answers sounding polished or appropriate in wording, but only about the substance of the appeal itself, which ChatGPT can easily distort – be careful, and a good rule of thumb is to just not use it at all when editing Wikipedia! Good luck! Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 14:28, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
Yes, I have a connection to these websites I used as references. I am not a business owner, but those are the clients for whom I work as SEO and PPC consultant for some time now. To be frank with you I wanted to acquire high domain-authority backlink if possible, although that was not the primary reason I opened an account here. I wanted long ago to take part and contribute to internet community this way and fight disinformation. That was my first thought since I used to work as a journalist earlier in my career.
As for ChatGPT, I understood what you said and will not use it when doing editing here.
Thanks in advance. Igor Kamber (talk) 15:20, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
Thanks for the transparency. This is a very important skill, which I'm happy to see you show here. If you are working in SEO, and editing in relation with your clients, you are required to follow our paid editing policy, and I invite you to read our guide on conflict of interest editing. Adding backlinks for SEO purposes is seen as spam, and if you wish to edit about your clients in the future, you should instead post edit requests while clearly disclosing the situation, so uninvolved editors can review them. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 15:40, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
@Chaotic Enby I ran a check and I've investigated the domains they added. I don't see any evidence this goes any deeper (which spam normally does), so I don't mind assuming good faith in this case. It sounds like we might need some conditions about appropriate external links and avoiding editing with a COI but I'm happy to leave you to work that out. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:12, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
Thanks a lot. @Igor Kamber, are you okay with an unblock condition of being required to go through edit requests for edits related to your clients or other conflicts of interest, and for edits adding external links? The former is already what we strongly encourage for COI/paid editors, and the latter would be more of a precaution, but it can be appealed in the future. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 20:28, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
Thank you very much for your quick response and for replying in a good faith. I agree with your unblock condition and will be careful in the future about the edits or uploading new articles online.
I am grateful for your understanding, I hope I will not be again in this position. At least I learned it the easy way. Igor Kamber (talk) 17:48, 8 January 2026 (UTC)
You've been unblocked, congratulations and happy editing! Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 18:00, 8 January 2026 (UTC)
