Montreal Metro + REM - connecting bus routes

Hey! Thanks for helping me update and standardize the connecting bus routes for the Montreal Metro with the template used for Metropolitan Terminus.

The goal is to have the same template for the whole ARTM network, so to eventually include commuter rail as well. @One of Many Tims is also working on that. These articles were really old (some were dating from 2017!) so this is way overdue! Mtlfiredude (talk) 21:39, 13 April 2025 (UTC)

@JustYou80, @Mtlfiredude: Hello to both of you! I agree, long overdue work.
I've prepared a simplified script for bus routes. Examples:
  • {{rint|montreal|bus|121}} would give you List of STM bus routes  121
  • {{rint|montreal|taxibus|280}} would give you   280
  • {{rint|montreal|bus|night|300}} would give you List of STM bus routes  300 ☾
  • {{rint|longueuil|bus|5|accessible}} would give you   5
  • {{rint|montreal|exo|bus|451|express}} would give you   451 (express bus)
Here is the change request submission for this if you want to comment on it. One of Many Tims (talk) 02:55, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
Hey guys, just finished updating bus routes for all Metro stations + a baseline for all REM stations. I’m on my phone so limited usefulness however.
Next up would be commuter rail and the existing REM stations (former DM line ones). Then we’d be mostly all set to start detailing all the services. Mtlfiredude (talk) 15:52, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
I just changed the bus icons on the YUL Airport page. I decided to still keep the destination part as a reference for travelers. JustYou80 (talk) 23:36, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
I just recently manually changed the bus icons and template to Fairview Terminal and Galeries d'Anjou. JustYou80 (talk) 02:29, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
Thanks! I did all existing REM stations as well, so only the exo commuter rail network is left (not a small job however). Mtlfiredude (talk) 02:51, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
Great work, you guys.
I don't want to slow down your fantastic momentum, but it might be worth it to wait on my change request for Template:Rail-interchange, as it will make it easier for you guys to make your edits, and to maintain them over time.
I'm hoping it will get looked at in the coming days. One of Many Tims (talk) 04:09, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
I only copy-paste the code and edit it so it’s not too bad :) will definitely keep an eye on that!
@One of Many Tims is your end goal to do what you have done with RTL lines at Brossard and Panama stations for STM, STL and exo lines? Very detailed and comprehensive info which really adds to the page. Mtlfiredude (talk) 12:55, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
@Mtlfiredude Yeah I think that would be good. I'd even add the door/gate/platform column like in Terminus Longueuil. I like the idea of making the columns sortable, too, so users can find the information in the way that works for them (search by number, destination, platform, route name).
But honestly I'm waiting for the "shortcut" codes above to be accepted before investing too much time in it. One of Many Tims (talk) 01:15, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
If I can, I could import the template to the french Wikipedia, since the bus template on the Montreal Metro there is also outdated. By the way, I am already a member (or user) of french Wikipedia. JustYou80 (talk) 01:22, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
All commuter rail stations updated!
So every REM, metro, major terminus and commuter rail has been done for Greater Montreal :) we now have a strong base to start detailing the lines. Mtlfiredude (talk) 01:38, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
Amazing work, @Mtlfiredude!
@JustYou80 re French Wikipedia. I have to check, because the templates aren't all the same in French. One of Many Tims (talk) 00:41, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
@JustYou80, @Mtlfiredude: Just a heads up that this method above to make simple styled bus route boxes now works. You'll find documentation on how to use it at Template:Rail-interchange/doc/CA.
I know I've had my own personal to-do list, and I know that you've done recent work (sorry I haven't responded. personal time committments in recent weeks).
Should we maybe document what we want to do together in the Wikipedia:WikiProject Montreal/Tasks page, and move the discussion to the empty Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Montreal/Tasks page? One of Many Tims (talk) 23:38, 11 June 2025 (UTC)
I generally think that it's a good idea. My talk page is almost full of comments and I am completely tired to always scroll down to see new stuff. By the way, I have edited the bus route template on Place Vertu. JustYou80 (talk) 23:42, 11 June 2025 (UTC)

Updating a metro station picture

Hi!

I saw you've taken a few pictures of the STM and posted them on Wikipedia so I wanted your opinion on this. I am thinking of updating the picture for Cremazie station, but in that process (I haven't taken the pic yet!) I started thinking: do you think we're losing something special if I put a more modern picture? There's something special to me about a 2010-era digital camera picture. But maybe a wiki isn't the place to get sentimental about these things and the more modern the better? Hope you're having a pleasant end to your 2025. ~ iFish12 (talk) (contribs) 21:50, 14 December 2025 (UTC)

I do update sometimes the pictures of stations due to new signage, outdated content… In some pages I would not update them because they are actually good to the public. Also not mentioning the 2010s cameras resolution is outdated, hence why I updated them to get crisp image resolution.
Have a great end of the year to you too! JustYou80 (talk) 00:58, 15 December 2025 (UTC)
