Introduction to contentious topics
You have recently edited a page related to the topics of Kurds and Kurdistan, broadly construed, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Hello. Your extended confirmed access has been revoked; it is clear you were gaming the system in order to get access.
Some of your prior non-productive edits may have been deleted or your sandbox reset - this may help you keep track of your legitimate current edits. Per recent precedents, these are the methods for you to restore extended-confirmed status:
- Avoid making any edits in topics restricted to extended confirmed users, and acquire 500 legitimate other edits; Then:

- Extended confirmed status requires 500 edits and 30 days or longer account age. Since your edits were not significant, they won't count towards extended confirmed status. You can apply as described above after another 500 meaningful edits. See Wikipedia:User groups#Extended confirmed accounts for more information on what extended confirmed means. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 19:24, 19 March 2026 (UTC)

- You can use the sandbox, but be careful what you write about contentious topics like Kurds and Kurdistan, as described above, as those rules apply to your user pages like your sandbox as well as the rest of Wikipedia. You can make test edits, but please don't use the sandbox for purposes other than learning how to contribute to Wikipedia or for working on an article for Wikipedia. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 21:15, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
