If you are the actual person represented by this username, please note that the practice of blocking accounts with such usernames is to protect you from being impersonated, not to discourage you from editing Wikipedia. You are welcome to continue editing Wikipedia using your account's current username, but we highly recommend that you have it changed to a different one first (see information below).
If you decide that you want to use this username to edit Wikipedia and do not wish to have it changed (not recommended), please send an email to info-en
wikimedia.org and include both your full real name and your Wikipedia account's current username in the body of the message. You will receive instructions from our volunteer response team about our verification process shortly afterwards. Please do not include or send any kind of documentation without being requested to do so first.
If you are not the actual person represented by this username, you will need to choose a new username before you can resume editing Wikipedia (see information below).
Please note your account's username should not be promotional or related to a "real-world" group or organization. It also cannot be misleading, violent, offensive, explicit, or disruptive. Usernames also cannot end with the word "bot" unless the account is an approved Wikipedia bot.
Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change to this account.
- To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and create a new one.
- If you prefer to change the username of this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page):
{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.
Before requesting a new username, you should check if it's available first. To do this, simply navigate to this search page and enter the username into the search field. If the search returns, "There is no global account for [username]", that means the username you entered is available.
Appeals: If your username is not in violation of Wikipedia's username policy, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.
- Hi, you have stated on your userpage that you are a known, notable person. Per WP:REALNAME, for your own protection and to avoid any risk of impersonation, I have blocked you until you have provided proof of this. Please do so by contacting our volunteer response team by e-mail to info-en@wikimedia.org, and they will advise you on how to proceed. Just to clarify, this block is only until the matter has been resolved, and you are then very welcome to contribute. Best, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:10, 2 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Grazing, thanks for the welcome! I sent an email. How do these verification steps usually work? I don't particularly want to show an ID with my Address to a stranger online. Nikatine (talk) 17:19, 2 January 2026 (UTC)
- I don't know, exactly, as I'm not part of the VRT, but they will advise you on your options. That wouldn't necessary always involve official ID, but if it does, the VRT members are bound by confidentiality agreements to prevent any sensitive information getting into wrong hands. Privacy is one thing that Wikimedia Foundation takes pretty damn seriously, I'm pleased to say. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:26, 2 January 2026 (UTC)
