I used to be a daily obsessive here in an earlier phase of my life, but serving on non-profit committees, then work, then study took me away. I will be here more than I was, but primarily sticking with maintenance tasks, fixing my own old lists, and editing here and there on politics, local government and electoral geography when time permits. Proposed deletion of Shire of South Gippsland

The article Shire of South Gippsland has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
per WP:ONEOTHER, because the current 'South Gippsland Shire' (the current local government area) is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC with that name over the related smaller former local government area of a similar name name and in a similar location, the 'Shire of South Gippsland (former)', because my move request for this disambiguation page on that basis on the 1st of February 2026 resulted in no consensus
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion based on established criteria.
If the proposed deletion has already been carried out, you may request undeletion of the article at any time. PK2 (talk; contributions) 06:28, 17 February 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for your good faith approach on this. I disagree so have removed the PROD, it feels like something that needs a bit of discussion if it's going to happen (i.e. an AfD or similar, with a notification to the Australian project). I note the other commenter on your move request suggested moving SoSG to include its years of existence - I have no objection to that. Orderinchaos 15:56, 17 February 2026 (UTC)

Happy First Edit Day!
| Happy First Edit Day! Hi Orderinchaos! On behalf of the Birthday Committee, I'd like to wish you a very happy anniversary of the day you made your first edit and became a Wikipedian! DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 15:50, 21 March 2026 (UTC) |
Wow, 20 years. Wikipedia and Wikimedia have unquestionably changed my life, and working on the projects kept my mind going at a time when my life really wasn't. I was able to channel some of my time and energy (non-Wikipedians might say "developed an obsession", but you guys know better) into improving Australian topics, and through that developed an interest in public data in Australia -- hours in distant cities (or my own) scouring libraries and archives for the one piece of information to fix something I was working on, drawing out lists, learning a heap about the country I live in that school never taught me. It's probably one of the main reasons I eventually became a data scientist, although my studies and work in that area since 2018 drew me away from active contribution. I also got to be part of a knowledge community (or more properly, several communities) which was very rewarding. My five years' membership of the Wikimedia Australia committee and getting to meet and exchange with people from all over the world at the Berlin conferences -- quite a few of whom I still consider friends -- and 2011 Wikimania is a privilege and experience I will never forget.
I hope to be able to return more meaningfully at some point. I still contribute occasionally on Commons, and have a huge backlog of images to upload there.
