Hi anonymous user, I gave my reasoning on the talk page of the article. The topic was rapidly changing and the full context was not available at the time. Personally, I lean towards caution when using words that heighten emotions when more precise and neutral words are available. See also: WP:CONTENTIOUS

That being said, knowing what we know now, I agree that assassination is the most fitting word. A right wing extremist killed Kirk based on a political/ideological disagreement, and assassination best conveys that truth. pedanticLoser 🗯️ 21:18, 15 September 2025 (UTC)
