Contentious topics notice: Armenia and Azerbaijan

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in politics, ethnic relations, and conflicts involving Armenia, Azerbaijan, or both. Due to past disruption in this topic area, the community has authorised uninvolved administrators to impose contentious topics restrictions—such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks—on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, expected standards of behaviour, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

Additionally, the following restriction(s) apply to this topic area:

  • Only extended-confirmed editors may make edits related to the topic area, though editors who are not extended-confirmed may post constructive comments and make edit requests related to articles within the topic area on article talk pages. Should disruption occur on article talk pages, administrators may take enforcement actions against disruptive editors and/or apply page protection on article talk pages. However, non-extended-confirmed editors may not make edits to internal project discussions related to the topic area, even on article talk pages. Internal project discussions include, but are not limited to, Articles for deletion nominations, WikiProjects, requests for comment, requested moves, and noticeboard discussions.

For additional information, please see the guidance on these sanctions. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

I would recommend reviewing WP:ECREXPLAIN, which lays out expectations and best practices for new editors engaging with highly contentious topics. Do note that topics concerning Azerbaijani national identity and precursors to the modern Azerbaijani state are generally covered by the above restrictions, and should be avoided until you reach WP:XC status. signed, Rosguill talk 17:57, 4 February 2026 (UTC)

🙏 I understand Pirwolf (talk) 18:11, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
Please refrain from edit farming, eg . HistoryofIran (talk) 14:02, 6 February 2026 (UTC)
Please stop disregarding WP:GSAA (eg ). HistoryofIran (talk) 23:36, 15 February 2026 (UTC)
Nowhere is it mentioned that the Turkic Kangarlu tribe (who has a history with Armenia) spoke Azerbaijani, and if they did they would not use the Latin alphabet of the Azerbaijan Republic, as they don't live there. Yet you added that as the script, arguably violating WP:GSAA again. Will you please stop? HistoryofIran (talk) 19:41, 23 February 2026 (UTC)

To enforce an arbitration decision, and for violating WP:GS/AA despite multiple warnings on the page Karabakh Khanate, you have been blocked from editing Wikipedia for a period of 31 hours. You are welcome to edit once the block expires; however, please note that the repetition of similar behavior may result in a longer block or other sanctions.

If you believe this block is unjustified, please read the guide to appealing blocks (specifically this section) before appealing. Place the following on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Please copy my appeal to the [[WP:AE|arbitration enforcement noticeboard]] or [[WP:AN|administrators' noticeboard]]. Your reason here OR place the reason below this template. ~~~~}}. If you intend to appeal on the arbitration enforcement noticeboard, I suggest you use the arbitration enforcement appeals template on your talk page so it can be copied over easily. You may also appeal directly to me (by email), before or instead of appealing on your talk page.

Reminder to administrators: In May 2014, ArbCom adopted the following procedure instructing administrators regarding Arbitration Enforcement blocks: "No administrator may modify a sanction placed by another administrator without: (1) the explicit prior affirmative consent of the enforcing administrator; or (2) prior affirmative agreement for the modification at (a) AE or (b) AN or (c) ARCA (see "Important notes"). Administrators modifying sanctions out of process may at the discretion of the committee be desysopped."

Blocked as a sockpuppet

Wikipedia's technical logs indicate that this user account has been or may be used abusively as a sockpuppet of User:Aourendil1 per the evidence presented at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Aourendil1. It has been blocked indefinitely from editing to prevent abuse.

Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public, so you may alternatively use the Unblock Ticket Request System to submit an appeal if it contains information that must be private.

Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting with a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.
