You've reverted my changes even though the sources are already cited. In the article's sources, there's the 11th source ^[1], referencing the fact that he was 22. Other print sources for him being 22 - ^[2] and ^[3]

Looking at 1920 United States Federal Census, for Brooklyn Assembly District 8, District 0424 , Frank Hayes, son of John and Margaret Hayes appears as 19, born in Ireland and immigrated to the US in 1901. There's another Frank Hayes that was born in New York and appears in the 1910, 1930 and 1940 censuses, but he doesn't appear in the 1920 one. He also resided in Brooklyn. Given the fact that he was alive in 1930 and 1940, we must come to the conclusion that he's not our deceased jockey.

Your misunderstanding arises from the fact that newspapers at the time printed that his age was 35 - in The Brooklyn Daily Eagle, Brooklyn, New York, Tue, Jun 05, 1923 · Page 26 - ^[4] or 25 in Daily News, New York, New York, 05 Jun 1923, Tue • Page 25 ^[5]

Taking the census into consideration and the fact that he just graduated from "apprentice boy" ^[6], the conclusion is that he was in fact 22, not 35 nor 25. I'm not that good at editing stuff on wikipedia so I'd rather leave the reversal of the reversal to you. Thank you! Teo4all (talk) 12:36, 31 August 2020 (UTC)

Teo4all, the third (and 6th) source you listed here says he was 25, which makes two sources you listed that say he was 22, two that say he was 25, and one that says 35. The Frank Hayes you found in the 1920 census does sound like the right person, but your first source said he emigrated to the US in 1917, 7 years before his death in 1923 and not 1901. Of course, the article might be wrong. Regarding the "apprentice boy" thing, he would likely have been 22 or 25, but I think it could rule 35 out, unless he got into riding very relatively late.
