Peter Jackson's film Heavenly Creatures has noticeable lesbian content with two girls played by Kate Winslet and Melanie Lynskey. However, I couldn't find appropriate references stating the two girls are lesbians. As similar incidents happen before, would you mind helping me find appropriate ones? I don't want to use other incorrect references unintentionally again and I would like the help of a more experienced Wiki user. Would you mind doing the honor of that? Runningman2027: I've seen Heavenly Creatures. There is lesbianism, as the two girls are obsessed and infatuated with each other and it's implied that they have sex, but whether one of them (or both) is a "lesbian" is another story since the movie doesn't make a point of making it clear. It's all open to interpretation. This is the reason why there are no reviews that describe, with certainty, that one or both girls are lesbians. Runningman2027: The article's introduction says "needed gap to fill when it comes to lesbian movies", "we want lesbian love stories", "lesbian characters being just as messy and chaotic", "even lesbian superheroes", "we found the best lesbian movies to watch", "or lesbian drama movies" ... BUT ... the description of Heavenly Creatures does not say that Juliet and Pauline, one or both, are lesbian. Females can have sex with each other and not be homosexual -- they can be bisexual. (And lord only knows! So many writers of these types of articles totally ignore that bisexuals do exist. It's as if they have a mental block and are wearing blinders.) Two females can also just be experimenting and conclude they prefer to be with males.
I've tried to find a source (both published and video) where Peter Jackson confirms that the Juliet and Pauline depicted in his film were "lesbians", but haven't been able to. Juliet Hulme changed her name to Anne Perry, and became the famous crime novelist. In 2006, she said in an interview that she and Parker were never lesbians. Pauline Parker changed her name to Hilary Nathan and lived her life out of the spotlight.
We, editors, are not supposed to guess what an article is trying to say, or make conjectures about its content. Just because we have seen a movie, for example, and know for a fact that a character is lesbian based on what we have seen, we still have to dig up reliable sources that confirm it. The best article (or book) is always going to be one written by an author who has watched a film and concluded that a character (one or more) is a lesbian and doesn't hesitate to describe her as such. Sometimes you just have to throw in the towel. This film is from 29 years ago. If there are no reliable published sources that say Character A is a lesbian, or Characters A and B are lesbians, or something like that, then we hit the bar and order a Tequila Sunrise (or whatever floats your boat). Can you explain:

1. Why you mass reverted and restored a version of the article with incomplete date ranges, referencing maintenance errors, MOS:TVUPCOMING violations, and incorrect parameters?
2. Again, per MOS:TV, the order is "Lead paragraphs", then "Plot section" (which details the use of both a prose premise section and the use of episode tables), then "Cast and characters information". So, again, episode tables comes directly after any lead and plot sections. So I ask: Which part of MOS:TV supports the inclusion of the episode tables at the end of the article?
3. Concerning this edit, this actually violates MOS:TVPLOT: an article should not have both an episode table with summaries and a prose plot summary. If you'd like to claim that Editors don't invent their own manuals of styles in Wikipedia, I would recommend taking exactly that on board.

"2.4 Plot section" is MOS:TVPLOT. Read it and see how it covers the details of using {{Episode table}} and {{Episode list}}. Episode listings are the plot section.

"4.3 Episode listing" comes under "4 'List of ...' structure." Van der Valk (2020 TV series) is not a separate "List of episodes" article or separate list article; it does not apply to this article.

The full sentence was "Experiencing lesbophobia as a lesbian can contribute to LGBT trauma." – Substitute the definition's synonym 'encounter': "Encountering lesbophobia as a lesbian can contribute to LGBT trauma." Clearly not a matter of being lesbophobic oneself, but of being subjected to another person's lesbophobia, i.e. "prejudice, discrimination, hatred, and abuse; with attitudes and feelings ranging from disdain to hostility", as the lede describes it. Entirely understandable, since (as LGBT trauma states) "When comparing heterosexual siblings to their same-sex lesbian, gay, or bisexual siblings, it was found that the sexual minority sibling was victimized at a higher rate across each of the types of interpersonal violence. ... Balsam, Kimberly F.; Rothblum, Esther D.; Beauchaine, Theodore P. (2005). "Victimization Over the Life Span: A Comparison of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Heterosexual Siblings". Except your rephrasing means something different, not "more clear". The original phrasing, "can contribute to LGBT trauma", suggests that experiencing lesbophobia is one of the possible contributing factors. Your rephrase, "... who experience lesbophobia may experience LGBT trauma", is not as open to other possible contributing factors.
In either case, this is text for the lede paragraph, which is typically unfootnoted. The wikilink to LGBT trauma takes the reader to an article with numerous footnotes discussing the experiences that contribute. If it's not somewhere in the text, where it's supported with reliable sources, then it cannot be a statement in the lead because as I said before, without RS it's just an editor's personal opinion, POV, original research -- and to add, WP:FORUM.

PS, just ftr, also a new contributor. @ChrisBabits, the reason I pinged you was to make sure you discussed with your student. We do try to encourage experienced editors to be patient with new users, but for some who work in areas where students are often required to sort of jump right into the deep end (rather than starting like most new editors start, by fixing typos and finding citations), it can get a little frustrating. PS works in human sexuality, and a lot of the articles on her watch are likely of interest to students taking classes like yours. Hi Pyxis Solitary. Like Jonesey95, I came to your user page because it was listed as one of the few pages having Bogus file options. It's not listed there now, but it will be if you revert my edit. Like Jonesey95 and others, I routinely edit articles, talk pages, and user pages to quietly and harmlessly fix lint errors. Very few users complain and many users thank me. I believe Jonesey95's fixes were all correct and did not affect the display. I was a little more aggressive, fixing mismatched collapse, float, and column markup, which changed the way some of the sections collapse. Feel free to revert. I added a sources section on the Talk Page in order to make it clear which works were sources for the article and which ones are further reading; that is, not specifically referenced in the article. This makes it easier for casual readers to see the main critical works on Highsmith at a glance. It also allows for the reference system to be rationalised because the article currently uses several citation methods in a haphazard way. It is also perfectly consistent with MOS:STRUCTURE. I explained this on the Talk page and I would be happy to discuss the issues I raised there.

Given your pop cultural interests, I thought you might know a bit about this. The article for Desperate Living states that "A brief controversy arose when lesbian groups attacked the film for its depiction of lesbianism, and for taking the title of a defunct lesbian magazine." I see no source for this, but there apparently was a magazine called Desperate Living. I would create an article about the magazine, but I'm not finding much in the way of sources. Thank you. Hi, Pyxis Solitary. I think you're going to love this script, maybe as much as I do: User:Nardog/RefRenamer. It semi-automatically converts VE numeric ref names to semantic names. ('Semi-', because you have to approve the changes in preview mode and then hit Publish; but all the ref name conversion work is already done for you.) There's a wee bit of a learning curve at the outset, as you face what looks like a pretty complex dialog box for the first time, but actually it's not as bad as all that because the script chooses good defaults for everything, so you can pretty much ignore the dialog box choices and leave all the dropdowns and input fields alone until you get more familiar with the script. When you are, you can always come back and start fiddling with the dials until you get the script to do exactly what you want. Highly recommended. I've been using it for a while, and I love it. I have used it in articles having over 500 citations, and never seen it mess up.

I either use it when I happen to land at a page with a bunch of VE numeric names that need fixing, or else I go on a tear and fix ten or twenty articles in a row. See Wikipedia:VisualEditor/Named references#How you can help for how to get a list of 50 articles that have VE numeric names that could use fixing. Running a series of them is the perfect improvement task that you can do when your brain is not working because the coffee isn't ready yet, and you need some task that is mindless, but useful. One tip: you don’t have to accept the name it proposes, you can overwrite in the table with a better one. I often do that with really long names, just turning it into an acronym, or when they use a long publisher name because the ref doesn’t include an author, then I sometimes look up the author (invariably shorter) so I can over type it and use the Last-YYYY format. TBH it's long overdue that members of Boy Harsher get their own pages, including as film directors, but I'm sorry, "with sources specifically about her history as a film or TV director" is just factually incorrect. When someone is mentioned in an article or list, and they are still alive or recently deceased, WP:BLP becomes involved. I read the Boston Globe source and it says "a short horror film the Northampton electronic duo directed and produced....Matthews and Muller began...directing their own music videos." I read the Document source and the only instance in which a reference about being a director appears is "Kris: You’re always kind of scouting, because that’s where your mind’s always at—writing and directing." These sources do not place any focus on Jae Matthews as a director. "Wikipedia's content is determined by published information rather than editors' beliefs, experiences, or previously unpublished ideas or information. Even if you are sure something is true, it must have been published in a reliable source before you can add it." — all editors are expected to follow this policy. What Wikipedia editors personally know, think, or believe is irrelevant. Someone who has been an editor since 2007 shouldn't need a reminder about it.
The Avocado source you linked states: "Girl with Hyacinths has been called the lesbian Citizen Kane. (Possibly bisexual.) That’s technically a spoiler, though the film drops plenty of hints to an audience versed in queer coding." Possibly bisexual is a fail. drops plenty of hints is speculation. queer coding is implication. Sources that do not describe a Character XYZ as lesbian (or gay, or homosexual) are useless sources for a list about lesbian identity. If you had used the Swedish Film Database article as the source when you added the film, it would have met the requirement of what sources must verify. I'm not sure why you are using dummy edit summaries to argue your case, that is not how Wikipedia works. Responding to your comment here:

Re reversal summary "we don't make these distinctions, especially not without reliable sources": body of article does not describe The Ready Room as a television program/series, yet categories used are television-related categories. Per WP:CAT#V – "It should be clear from verifiable information in the article why it was placed in each of its categories." Either TV-related categories are removed or {{Unreferenced category}} template needs to be added to the article.

Your original edits did not make sense, it cannot be both a television series and a web series. We do not say a television series is also a web series just because its episodes get released on YouTube or the like. Your second edit summary then contradicts your original edit, as you are now claiming that the article shouldn't call it a television series even though you added television in your original edit. A whole lot of nonsense happening here. An Internet-based series consisting of short-length episodes (as in "14 minutes") is a web series. When episode runtime is from just under 30 minutes (say, 28') to longer, it is a streaming television series. Some series have begun as a web series (on something like YouTube or a website) and moved to a cable network or OTT network. From what the article contains, The Ready Room can be classified as both. Many Wikipedia television-related articles are not accurate. This is just one more. I try to be encyclopedic with my edits, but sometimes I encounter a dead horse.
