Content Removal on Vanity award
Hi! I saw your edit on Vanity award - I'm not sure I understand how the material you removed is irrelevant/unsourced? It seems pretty well sourced and covers various vanity awards, but maybe I'm missing something? Merlin04talkcontribs 04:19, 7 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Merlin,
- I removed the paragraphs that weren't about vanity awards, but were about other topics such as "fee for review", and "anthology schemes" which are not about payment in exchange for award conferral, but are about paying to be published in an anthology, or paying for a review. Those are not about vanity book awards, but are about other "pay to play" schemes. That isn't related to the topic, and is otherwise irrelevant to the subject of the article. Additionally, some of the citations led back to primary sources that didn't support the statements. For example, the sources for "Other awards target self-published authors with high entry fees, with for-profit business models and numerous categories and promises of marketing include the Readers Favorite Awards, and the IndieReader Discovery Awards" were merely to the general web page of the referenced award organizations. But nothing on those web pages verified the specific claims being asserted. I hope that helps as to why I removed that content from the article. Rainydaywindows (talk) 04:25, 7 February 2026 (UTC)

Hi Rainydaywindows. Thank you for your work on Kinsale Shark Awards. Another editor, Klbrain, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:
Thanks for creating this page about an event series, running since 1962. While few of the sources are independent of the awards, or the Kinsale Chamber of Tourism & Business (which no doubt has a vested interest), it seems likely that such a long-running series in independently notable.
