Extensible Device Metadata

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Extensible Device Metadata, and it appears to include material copied directly from https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/the-extensible-device-metadata-xdm-specification-version-10.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) December 2015

Information icon Hello, I'm 220 of Borg. I wanted to let you know that I removed one or more external links you added to the main body of Project Tango. Generally, any relevant external links should be listed in an "External links" section at the end of the article and meet the external links guidelines. Links within the body of an article should be internal Wikilinks. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. 220 of Borg 07:55, 5 December 2015 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Extensible Device Metadata

Notice

The article Extensible Device Metadata has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG, a WP:BEFORE search turned up no mentions of this format in reliable sources.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion based on established criteria.

If the proposed deletion has already been carried out, you may request undeletion of the article at any time. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 03:44, 5 March 2026 (UTC)

Thanks for your audit. As mentioned in the article, the source of info is the external site https://www.xdm.org website. But the text in the article is original, not plagiarized from that site.
I know that my personal experience doesn't count as a source, but I helped design XDM and wrote the original text on the XDM site. I removed the tag but I am happy to do whatever is needed to improve the article. Let me know if I've misunderstood or missed something. :)

The problem is that xdm.org is not an independent source. To demonstrate notability under Wikipedia's definition there needs to be independent sources that discuss or analyze it. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 21:52, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
Aha, thanks. Yes, it's hard to find anyone who's commenting on it or using it. It's mentioned in some Google documentation for people posting to Street View (https://developers.google.com/streetview/publish/reference/rest/v1/photoSequence), but that article directly references the original documentation at www.xdm.org, so there's not much value added by having a Wikipedia article. Maybe it's time to delete the article. Thotso (talk) 22:07, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
Please also read WP:conflict of interest and note for the future that you should not directly create articles about software that you personally developed. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 22:02, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
