@OneReaction5890 You were doing fine in your reply until you said "sorry if you took it harshly!" which suggests that you are sorry because I took offence. You probably are. However, you should be sorry because you caused the offence.

Redirect from other languages

Hello, Timtrent. I'm ArcticSeeress. When you create new redirects from alternative languages (such as ⴰⴽⵔⵡⴰⵙ ⵏ ⵓⵎⴰⴹⴰⵍ 2030 and NongmindangNongmindang), I would appreciate it if you added the language of the redirect page name and language of the target page name. When a language isn't supplied for the template, the page gets added to Category:Redirects from undetermined-language terms and Category:Redirects to undetermined-language terms, which are maintenance categories with pretty big backlogs. @ArcticSeeress I do not think my best will be good enough. Please see this permalink and examine any request with Chinese or similar languages. The request in some cases suggests Pinyin, but there is no ISO code. Often Google Translate is mystified and suggests Vietnamese.

Also, if it helps, Pinyin and POJ are just different ways of writing Mandarin and Hokkien, respectively, which use the language codes cmn and nan. The alternative language templates do not have parameters for scripts, just languages, so you don't have to think about what exact writing system a redirect is written in. I've looked through the Chinese redirect requests and categorized them accordingly. Some of the requests seemed to be unlikely as search terms, so I've rejected them. ArcticSeeress (talk) 03:57, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
