Where I've been

I doubt anyone cares but I might as well share in case anyone wonder. I've been struggling with depression for over a year now and find it difficult to care about Wikipedia anymore. You will likely see more of me again some day and I usually read things posted here or in my pings eventually. If you want to contact me it doesn't hurt to try, but don't expect a timely response. -- Trialpears (talk) 08:17, 14 June 2024 (UTC)

Just glad to see your name pop up on my feed; we'll still be here if and when you decide to return. Primefac (talk) 00:20, 15 June 2024 (UTC)
Likewise. Sorry to hear you're going through a rough patch. You're always welcomed around here. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 00:45, 15 June 2024 (UTC)
Take care of yourself, and ask for help when you need it. I hope to see your valuable contributions back here when you are ready. – Jonesey95 (talk) 17:47, 15 June 2024 (UTC)
Hope things get easier. Your well-being comes way ahead of anything on here. Take care, Rjjiii (talk) 08:35, 4 July 2024 (UTC)

Nothing much new to report here really. Guess I might be on my way towards a recovery but who knows. At least I have a fair chance of passing my first exam in a year and a half next week. I still love the project a lot but don't have the energy to do much and Wikipedia is low priority. I've learned so much from all you guys and grew a ton as a person from helping out here. I hope that to return one day but that day definitely isn't here yet. God I'm tearing up. Trialpears (talk) 11:13, 12 January 2025 (UTC)

Hey Trialpears, I remember the first year you joined and you did a great job of implementing automatic short descriptions for {{Infobox school}} which is how I met you. I also want to echo the comments of Primefac, Headbomb, Jonesey95, and Rjjiii; I too was glad to see your name pop up on my feed, I remember when you had sort of like vanished and I thought to myself what happened to Trialpears, I thought maybe you took a short break or something (speaking of breaks, I took a hiatus lately as life had gotten in the way), but I remember the interactions we had with each other. It was awesome to see you become an administrator; your willingness to engage in discussions, overall friendliness, and you are an easy person to get along with, if anything well deserved,
Depression is a horrible thing, it's not easy, various things factor into the depression and it can take a toll on your life, but no matter what, don't give up Trialpears, we just have to keep going, look after yourself, and I'm hoping the recovery is coming along okay. I hope the first exam went well and if not, can always try again right, and I too hope to see your valuable contributions back here when you are ready, thanks for being awesome and keep being you! :) Steven (Editor) (talk) 06:38, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
Thank you, it's heart warming reading your message. Progress is painfully slow but at least it's largely going in the right direction. Trialpears (talk) 12:01, 13 March 2026 (UTC)

Happy Adminship Anniversary!

Happy Adminship Anniversary!

Something I wrote about the subject

WP:Edit at your own pace. You are not alone. Merely between the two of us, you are not by yourself. So do what's good for you. Step back if needed; the constant firehose can be a lot to process. Ask for help. I walk my dogs when I need centering. Eight billion human strategies currently in motion; fellow wikipedians of all languages have some idea what we go through together. Being a synapse is hard work. If I can be of any use, reach the heck out. We are no longer strangers, ok. BusterD (talk) 12:19, 11 July 2026 (UTC)

Thank you for your kind words BusterD. If there's one thing I've had to learn these past few years it is that I can't go on like usual and have to respect when my body says that it can't work anymore. It's frustrating and I hope I will return to proper editing someday but for now I will just have to be happy with what I do manage and take it one step at a time. Trialpears (talk) 11:23, 14 July 2026 (UTC)
I consider your reply a vital step. Thank you. We're all just human beings, trying to keep this platform human. As a durable senior of sometimes hovering intention, I find working speedy deletions and page protections (before half the continent wakes up) a useful and cathartic regimen. I'm on for an hour (I'm already up after walking the huskies) and then I check in during the day when I get time. I have dreams of returning to pagespace creation but right now I feel my responsibility is to plumbing. Your opinion is valuable to us, so dip your toes in discussions when it feels appropriate. But you do you. We'll be here. BusterD (talk) 17:22, 14 July 2026 (UTC)
