Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Happy editing! Cheers, Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 14:06, 27 October 2024 (UTC)

Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Information icon Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that you recently added commentary to an article, François Letexier. While Wikipedia welcomes editors' opinions on an article and how it could be changed, these comments belong on the article's accompanying talk page. If you post your comments there, other editors working on the same article will notice and may respond to them, and your comments will not disrupt the flow of the article. However, keep in mind that even on the talk page of an article, you should limit your discussion to improving the article. Article talk pages are not the place to discuss opinions of the subject of articles, nor are such pages a forum. Thank you. Valenciano (talk) 09:11, 9 July 2026 (UTC)

@Valenciano Where did I write something wrong? What did I write wrong? Come on, I wrote the right things. Now he is popular for the controversy in the Argentina and Egypt match. Wafitauyan (talk) 09:16, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
That he "took side to Argentina" is your point of view. Wikipedia articles are written from a neutral point of view. As a general rule, if you've added something and numerous users have removed it, it's controversial, probably not NPOV and should be discussed on the article's talk page. Valenciano (talk) 09:20, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
@Valenciano Sorry for that but In the universe there is nothing about neutral point of view.
Now check the line again now I write that"He is popular for controversy ". Wafitauyan (talk) 09:25, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
@Valenciano Now why you cut my last edit? explain plss Wafitauyan (talk) 09:28, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
It's already included in the article and a recentist controversy not suitable for the lead. Before adding it again, go to Talk:François Letexier and discuss it there. Valenciano (talk) 09:30, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
@Valenciano Okay.. but His refereeing license should be revoked. (Redacted) Wafitauyan (talk) 09:36, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
