Request reason:
I am long-time reader/user of Wikipedia and, off and on over the years, I’ve also edited articles. I made some substantial contributions to the page on Honen Shonin and Marco Pallis, but I did it all without an account. It is only recently—I am sure whoever is reading this can look up exactly when—that I created an account and started editing a bit, again off and on. Sometimes I’m reading an article on Wikipedia and notice a mistake, and I try to fix those (e.g. a recent edit on the Irish music band Clannad, whose early albums I listen to again and again). And, as again is evident from my editing history, I am interested in Frithjof Schuon and the traditionalist school generally. Clearly, I share that interest with LeonardoVisconte as I am sure I share it with many others, whether active on Wikipedia or not. But I am not anyone’s puppet—I am my own person, though I don’t know how to “prove” that to whomever is making this determination. I’m willing to answer questions, and I assume you can look up my IP to see that it is not the same as LeonardoVisconte’s. Other than that, I’m not sure what else to do or say. I do find it a bit odd that I was summarily blocked without anyone reaching out to me in advance. I went to at the “evidence” presented at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/LeonardoVisconte and it appears to be purely algorithmic (an “Editor interaction utility”). I don’t know how to argue with a “utility”, but I am a real person and will happily answer questions. Decline reason:
Having discussed the technical and behavioral evidence with the blocking admin via email, I find the case for sockpuppetry to be compelling, noting similarities in time of activity (in terms of times of day/week when the editors are active, dates of joint convergence of the editors on specific articles, and dates of general activity on Wikipedia), IP geolocation, a significant overlap of interest across multiple topics, and idiosyncratic similarities in diction including similar patterns of grammatical errors. Investigating further, I was not able to find any indication or meaningful evidence to the contrary in the editors' edit histories. The most likely path I see to an unblock would be opting for a standard offer and/or accepting a conditional topic-ban from Frithjof Schuon. signed, Rosguill talk 22:14, 23 April 2026 (UTC)

asilvering Perhaps some explanations of my prior postings will help. I'll start with Barbara Stanwick. It aggrieved me to read the claim that The Bitter Tea of General Yen was poorly reviewed. True, it was commercially unsuccessful, but it was well reviewed and justly so, in my view. For me, it the best of her early films (my grandmother preferred her Stella Dallas, but that one never spoke to me). Then there is George Bird Grinnell. I have always thought Grinnell was one of the better of the amateur anthropologists writing about the American Indians. But someone like Grinnell could do nothing without the help of people like George Bent, who provided both linguistic and cultural translation. I didn't change much, but I at least wanted to bring out that dual role Bent played. And then there is Tuebingen. I had the pleasure of living there for 6 months, and I like to re-visit (in memory at least) my times there. So, when I noticed a little something I could add to the Wikipedia page, I did so; it made me happy to think of my time there. What is this proof of? I'm not sure, other than that I make edits, like most people, based on my interests and experiences. Well-knownBugler (talk) 14:31, 13 April 2026 (UTC)

Rosguill I appreciate that being an administrator is a difficult position, but I have push back against your assertions.
You point to “dates of joint convergences of editors on specific articles”, but in reviewing my history and LeonardoVisconte’s history, I see 1 article where we overlap—not multiple articles.
You point to “similarities” in terms of “terms of times of day/week when the editors are active”, but what does that mean exactly? How similar? And how many people in the world share that same pattern? 10s? 100s? 1000? Also, as it relates to the Frithjof Schuon page, I think it is normal that I sometimes edit it on the same days as LeonardoVisconte, given that I am generally editing the page after a comment made in the talk page. Generally all of the activity—not just mine and LeonardoVisconte’s—happens around similar times, triggered by someone on the talk page.
You point to “a significant overlap of interest across multiple topics”. As stated above, LeonardoVisconte and I overlap on 1 article only, so far I can tell. By definition, I share some overlap of interest with every person who has ever edited the article on Frithjof Schuon. But if one looks at what I have edited, and what LeonardoVisconte has edited, we have a significant non-overlap of interests.
You cite “similarities in diction including similar patterns of grammatical errors”. Can you provide two or three examples? And if, indeed, I and LeonardoVisconte make “grammatical errors”, are these errors common, or uncommon?
You say “ I was not able to find any indication or meaningful evidence to the contrary in the editors' edit histories”. What does that mean? What would constitute “meaningful evidence”? Did you note, for example, that LeonardoVisconte reversed one of my edits, citing his reasons for disagreement with it?
You write that you discussed “the technical and behavioral evidence with the blocking admin via email”. Can you please share that ex parte communication? How can I, or LeonardoVisconte, respond to these claims if we do not know the “evidence” being used against us?
You note a similarity in terms of IP geolocation. What does that mean? That we live in the same State or the same city? I have emailed LeonardoVisconte to ask him where he lives. Living in a similar location does not make me a sockpuppet.
Although Wikipedia is supposed to be anonymous, I am willing to submit to a Wikipedia based, or 3rd party run, selfie ID verification (combining a photo of my driver’s license with a selfie). If LeonardoVisconte is willing to do the same, this should be conclusive proof.
I look forward to your responses to the points above, and I hope you will reconsider your block. Well-knownBugler (talk) 15:57, 30 April 2026 (UTC)

- Rosguill, I've been a bit distracted between SchroCat and other things and haven't sent you a follow-up email yet, but there's one coming. Bugler, apologies for the delay here. -- asilvering (talk) 16:07, 30 April 2026 (UTC)
- Asilvering, given that I already declined the prior request, not sure there's anything for you to send my way, as I can't review this second request. signed, Rosguill talk 16:51, 30 April 2026 (UTC)
- Asilvering, maybe when you get a chance you could send what you sent Rosguill my way? Extraordinary Writ (talk) 23:31, 1 May 2026 (UTC)
- Maybe can I get a copy of that too? I've been asked to prove a negative (that I am not someone else), and knowing what evidence is being used against me would help :) Well-knownBugler (talk) 00:32, 2 May 2026 (UTC)
- Sorry for the delay, Well-knownBugler. Asilvering, am I good to unblock both of them? Extraordinary Writ (talk) 23:09, 14 May 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, by all means. And, @Well-knownBugler, my apologies, both for the block and the delay. -- asilvering (talk) 01:18, 15 May 2026 (UTC)
