Introduction to contentious topics
You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.
Specifically, this means you may not edit in this subject area until you have achieved "extended confirmed" status, i.e. more edits to other subject areas. --Yamla (talk) 15:05, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Yamla, I'm new to English Wikipedia, but it seems a little extreme. I've merely made edit suggestions on an article talk page, not the article itself.
- If it still violates the community standards, please kindly teach me an alternative method of suggesting edits. YedidyaPopper (talk) 15:18, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
- You are not permitted to edit that subject area at all, not until you reach extended confirmed status. See Wikipedia:User_access_levels#Extendedconfirmed. --Yamla (talk) 16:45, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Yamla So where can I ask for edits if not on the talk page? YedidyaPopper (talk) 07:07, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
- You can't. You are required to stay away from that subject area until you reach extended confirmed status. --Yamla (talk) 11:14, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
- Oh wow, seems excessive but ok. Thanks for taking the time to explain, I appreciate it. YedidyaPopper (talk) 14:16, 16 January 2025 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Maphra

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Maphra requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Erakilos (talk) 09:46, 26 March 2026 (UTC)
