Wanjuru is a coastal locality in the Cassowary Coast Region, Queensland, Australia.[2] In the 2021 census, Wanjuru had "no people or a very low population".[1]
Wanjuru is bounded to the east by Ella Bay (17°27′05″S 146°04′03″E / 17.4515°S 146.0674°E), a side bay of the Coral Sea.[3][4]
The locality's south-west boundary approximately follows the ridge of the Seymour Range.[5]
Wanjuru has the following mountains:
- Mount Annie (17°28′51″S 146°03′14″E / 17.4807°S 146.0539°E), rising to 324 metres (1,063 ft) above sea level[6][7]
- Mount Maria (17°28′57″S 146°04′12″E / 17.4826°S 146.0701°E),294 metres (965 ft)[6][8]
Heath Point is a headland on the coast (17°28′46″S 146°04′34″E / 17.4794°S 146.0761°E).[9]
Most of the northern, western and southern parts of the locality are within Ella Bay National Park which extends into neighbouring Eubenangee. The land in the north of the locality includes the Ella Bay Swamp.[5] The land use in the east of the locality is predominantly grazing on native vegetation; there is also some marshland in this part of the locality.[10]
Ella Beach Road is the main route into the locality, commencing at Flying Fish Point to the south-east.[11]
