Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Asia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion and merging of articles related to Asia. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Asia|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Asia. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.

  • construction of rail transport in Bhutan, because these lines are being built? ~2026-27102-59 (talk) 12:00, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
As funny as the first line is, it should probably be deleted (or renamed and added to if there are substantial updates to the network). Sources are cited and the other information about rail lines does look sensible but this is covered perfectly by the general transport article. RaggedDan (talk) 12:11, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
  • Keep. The first line follows: "...but several have been planned." A cursory Google search of the article's title brings up many sources discussing these planned railway lines. Twitter-based deletion proposals are rarely likely to succeed, imo. Loytra 12:08, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
I feel like this could all be fixed with just rewording other sentence, "There is no current rail transport in Bhutan" sounds better. Cyb3rstarz (talk) 14:12, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
Keep. Details planned railway lines - relevant to "Rail transport". Deveroonie (talk) 17:31, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
Keep We can just change the first line. "Although there is not currently a rail network in Bhutan, several have been planned...", clarifying the articles nature Tenryuu1919 (talk) 18:03, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
Keep Rail construction is currently underway. The article is good as it is now.--PriParaIdolLaala (talk) 18:08, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
Keep but rename to Proposed Rail Transport in Bhutan. The article should be renamed instead of deleted per WP:ATD and WP:NOTCLEANUP. DAmik001 (talk) 19:43, 4 May 2026 (UTC)

Delete per WP:NACADEMIC and WP:GNG. The article itself is nearly contentless: the journalistic career section consists of a single sentence stating he has written for newspapers, supported by an archived Outlook India search page. The books section covers one co-authored title criticised by reviewers as hagiographic. The Samuel Flagg Bemis Award citation links not to an award announcement but to one of Mehta's own journal articles, providing no verification of the claim. The Google Scholar and Rising Asia Journal editorial board pages are primary sources. Flyingphoenixchips (talk) 04:45, 4 May 2026 (UTC)

Jahaza (talk) 15:05, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
  • Weak keep: The book reviews provided by Jahaza, combined with those already present in the article, suggest a WP:NAUTHOR pass to me. I'll admit, I got a laugh out of "He has written for newspapers" but being poorly developed is not a reason for deletion. Also, could pass NACADEMIC #8 if Rising Asia Journal is a "well-established academic journal". -- MediaKyle (talk) 15:28, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
I've updated the article to include the new reviews, note the additional books, lightly copyedit and improve the journalism section. Jahaza (talk) 16:24, 4 May 2026 (UTC)

This is a somewhat unprecedented situation. Afghan Women United, a team independent from the Afghanistan Football Federation with no relation to the former Afghanistan national team, has now become the de facto Afghanistan national team after FIFA and the AFC recognised it as such.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8] Do we merge the two articles, or keep them separate and either move the articles or keep the status quo? Full disclosure, I have performed absolutely no WP:BEFORE on the subject of the article to check for notability. My reasoning here is that the article's creator is now blocked for UPE and LLM misuse, that multiple of their other articles were deleted at AfD (or draftified by myself for being AI generated/having no indication of notability), and multiple sources in the article are tagged as having failed verification (probably due to the text being AI generated); see the findings of Talk:Faridul Mostafa Khan/GA1 for example.

I find it highly unlikely that this article is the exception to the rule of the creator's behaviour, and even if the subject is notable we're probably better off nuking this mess and leaving somebody else to create it from scratch later if they see fit. Athanelar (talk) 01:58, 30 April 2026 (UTC)

  • Delete per nom, though weakly, because of the proportion of the article that has verification issues and the alleged LLM provenance. As I was looking at the article I found another source failed verification not noticed in the GA review—the sentence sourced to citation 5 claimed the journalist was jailed for "almost eleven months", when the cited source and others all said it was more than eleven months. For the record I do think the subject counts as notable. Em-as-in-emily (talk) 03:13, 30 April 2026 (UTC)

Well worth revisiting this AfD. The previous AfD was closed as 'keep' seemingly based on a rationale given by an editor now blocked for UPE, and another editor simply echoing that user's rationale. Especially worth noting given that the article was created as Mainul Ahsan Nobel, a title variant to avoid the salting on Mainul Ahsan Noble. Athanelar (talk) 01:47, 30 April 2026 (UTC)

  • Delete—although I think the article could also be kept by removing material that failed verification and cleaning up unencyclopedic language. The author was blocked on UPE and LLM use grounds, and I believe the article shows signs of LLM use—for example the phrases "several media outlets reported" and "The comments generated public debate and criticism and were widely reported in the media." I also think it's odd that his marriage to the complainant in the 2025 case was referred to as "later personal developments". Going through the citations, I found and tagged three instances where the references failed to verify the material.Em-as-in-emily (talk) 03:46, 30 April 2026 (UTC)

Short youtube movie which lacks all notability. Student work repeatedly moved to the mainspace without improvements, none of the sources are about the subject. No idea why it isn't a standard requirement for such student work that it is sent to AfC. Copies also exist in userspace and draftspace, I guess we need to keep those for the time being so they can be graded, but a lot of time has been wasted on this already. Fram (talk) 07:46, 29 April 2026 (UTC)

It's not feasible for a class, which has to give grades on a short (quarter/semester) time frame, to wait for AfC which is currently warning that months will be required. That said, "Get an article published on Wikipedia" is a TERRIBLE class assignment and I don't think we need to cooperate. There's a basic incompatibility between "here to get assignment done" and "here to build encyclopedia." M kuhner (talk) 19:59, 29 April 2026 (UTC)

  • Keep but: I think the plan of the bio is not very accurate, the Activism/Political career seem to be speaking about the same thing and should be mixed together. Also the part on controversies is well sourced but I think for the bio of a politician, it's clearly undue that most of his WP page regards his controversies with nearly 5x less content on basic biographical information, so the biographical section should be improved to match the amount, I believe. Except from that, it seems sourced by several national level sources at least and seems to be allowed to stay for sure. --Aristoxène (talk) 09:17, 29 April 2026 (UTC)

  • Keep appears to pass WP:GNG, i don't see a reason to get rid of it. -- Aunva6talk - contribs 19:45, 29 April 2026 (UTC)
  • Keep - The subject easily meets WP:N for his role as a key coordinator of the Students Against Discrimination movement that played a key part in the 2024 July Revolution, and there is an abundance of WP:RS covering the subject including international outlets like NYT and prominent national ones like The Daily Star; the article can adhere to WP:V due to these reliable sources. The article should, however, put more emphasis on the subject's conservatism and anti-LGBT commentary, such as calling LGBT people "mentally ill" and a "cancer to society" as has been reported by numerous sources.  Preceding unsigned comment added by OtakuAltair (talkcontribs) 11:24, 30 April 2026 (UTC) OtakuAltair (talk contribs) has made few or no other edits outside this topic.
  • Keep - A big part of the controversy section is just explaining his stance on LGBTQ and other conservative culture war issues. I'd like to say that there should be a separate section for politics/beliefs where his stance and ideology must be explained, and International Human Rights organizations' reaction to his views should be in the controversy area, in this way we are not cluttering the controversy section, and still explaining his own politics.  Preceding unsigned comment added by Pharloon (talkcontribs) 16:01, 30 April 2026 (UTC) Pharloon (talk contribs) has made few or no other edits outside this topic.
  • Comment - I am seeing that pretty much everyone is talking about his stance on one political issue as the main reason for deletion initiation. I should inform that, I proposed this AfD because I felt like he has had less notable coverage than Nasiruddin Patwari, another July revolution leader. These articles both have similar scope and notability and yet seems to be getting different treatment. There is even less in person interviews, coverage and reporting on Sarjis than there is on Patwari. With this in mind, I think it's prudent to delete the article until enough notability is established through in-depth reporting. (The discussion in question which I feel has gone the opposite direction for pretty much same quality and quantity of sources.) Greatder (talk) 20:08, 30 April 2026 (UTC)
I think the reason people might be writing about Sarjis Alam instead of Patwary is because S. Alam made some comments, in fact has repeatedly made comments about a particular issue. Nonetheless, this is true that the Wiki page for N. Patwary is practically non-existent, I think we should look into this, and try to make Patwary's page more informed, instead of deleting the perfectly okay page of S. Alam that explains his political stance, it's important to inform the reader of his political stance, as he is a politician himself. Pharloon (talk) 22:05, 30 April 2026 (UTC)

I suspect that Daria-i-Noor in Tehran is the primary topic over Daria-i-Noor (Dhaka). Unfortunately, a lot of the search results I found seem to conflate the two, but Britannica's entry (under a different romanization) is clearly about the Iranian diamond. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 05:12, 23 April 2026 (UTC)

Multiple significant coverage is unavailable. Most of the sources are passing mention and official website of the org. The only significant source is a promotional piece published in Kaler Kantho, that reads like a press release or paid promotion. • Keep- Notable and influential organization during the Awami League government's term, it has lost significant influence since then. Notability is not temporary, and it endures even if the organization becomes defunct. The Kaler Kantho article does not read like a paid release to me. While there is room for improvement, especially in terms of sources, this organization has received national coverage for over a decade and has been highly influential on the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government, which suggests it is notable. The platform developed by Tairex, a company set up in September under the university’s Institute for Al Industry Research (AIR), features 42 AI doctors covering 21 departments that include emergency, respiratory, paediatrics and cardiology, according to an AIR blog post published last month. Public tests of the platform, named Agent Hospital, will be conducted in the first quarter of 2025, with the goal of making the system available to the general public later in the first half of next year, according to the institute."

Duanju vs microdrama

Duanju seems to overlap almost completely with this article, is there a reason not to merge that into here? "Microdrama" is clearly the English WP:COMMONNAME for the format, with 60-100x more hits on Google Trends. Asamboi (talk) 03:37, 18 April 2026 (UTC)

I have formally proposed the merger. For avoidance of doubt, while the previous AfD was about notability, that has been well established at this point and I'm only proposing that we combine these two near-duplicate articles under the English name. (Why we now use the AfD process for this is beyond me.) Asamboi (talk) 07:24, 19 April 2026 (UTC)

  • Redirect Microdrama to Duanju (a KEEP vote for Duanju). The original term used in China is “短剧” (duanju), which is the native Chinese designation. The word “duanju” is simply the pinyin (romanization) of this term. If the format is being discussed internationally today, it is primarily because it first became successful in China. For example, the Chinese state news agency Xinhua News Agency published an article titled: 短剧虽短,版权不容侵 https://www.xinhuanet.com/legal/2023-12/15/c_1130023456.htm. This shows that 短剧 is the standard term in China, while “microdrama” is an English translation used internationally.  Preceding unsigned comment added by ~2026-85321-1 (talk) 16:45, 21 April 2026 (UTC)
  • Comment: Duanju has existed since 2 April 2024. Microdrama was turned from a redirect into an article around three months ago on 26 February 2026 by the temporary account ~2026-12747-82 (talk · contribs). YuelinLee1959 (talk · contribs) asked the user, "What is the difference between the 'Duanju' and 'Microdrama' entries? Why didn't you just edit the 'Duanju' entry and add your content there?"

I agree that the two articles are about the same topic but have different content. I don't know if the content in Microdrama is good quality as I have not reviewed it closely. If a merge is to happen, the newer article Microdrama should be merged into the older article Duanju rather than the older article Duanju into the newer article Microdrama. If editors think the title should be changed from Duanju to Microdrama, they should boldly do it or make a Wikipedia:Requested moves request. Cunard (talk) 09:05, 20 April 2026 (UTC)

RMs are for changing the name of one article, not merging two. Asamboi (talk) 21:17, 20 April 2026 (UTC)

For example, the Chinese state news agency Xinhua News Agency published an article titled:

  • Comment: 1.4 billion people do not need the West to rename their format. “Duanju” is the original term, used by the industry that created it and by its primary market. The issue reflects a persistent difficulty in recognizing that a dominant format can emerge outside the Western framework.
Moreover, the term “duanju” is already used in the French-speaking world, including by public media:
• Radio-Canada – A first duanju documentary
https://ici.radio-canada.ca/info/videos/1-10643960/un-premier-duanju-documentaire-a-radio-canada
• RTS (Switzerland) – The duanju craze
https://www.rts.ch/audio-podcast/2026/audio/l-edito-de-philippe-congiusti-la-folie-des-duanju-29142711.html
• Radio-Canada (Ohdio) – Have you heard of duanju?
https://ici.radio-canada.ca/ohdio/premiere/emissions/vivement-le-retour/segments/rattrapage/2325989/question-franche-connaissez-vous-duanju
This shows that “duanju” is already circulating internationally. Monsieursource (talk) 13:18, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
This is the English Wikipedia, not the French one. In English sources, microdrama is far more popular than duanju, see eg Google Trends. Asamboi (talk) 21:20, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
  • Comment: Wikipedia does not determine how a format is named in its country of origin, nor how it should be translated internationally. The term “duanju” comes from China, where the format was created and developed. It is not an American format, and it did not originate with an English name. Translations such as “microdrama” are already indicated in the lead section of the article as equivalents, but they are translations, not the original term. The role of Wikipedia is to reflect usage and sources, not to redefine the origin or impose a different naming convention.  Preceding unsigned comment added by ~2026-85321-1 (talk) 14:56, 21 April 2026 (UTC)
No, this is not at all how Wikipedia naming conventions work, we use the WP:COMMONNAME in English reliable sources. Asamboi (talk) 21:49, 21 April 2026 (UTC)
  • Comment: We could add a dedicated section clarifying usage differences across regions. For example, that “duanju” is the original Chinese term, while in the United States the format is often translated as “microdrama.” This would better reflect how terminology varies depending on linguistic and market contexts, and acknowledge that usage may still evolve over time. [Whoever wrote this comment did not sign it.]
Note that a later RM can decide the new name, now we just need to check if the two pages should remain separate. FaviFake (talk) 14:22, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
  • Merge- with Duanju as the titular article title instead, as it is, a read through for the target article shows that most of its contents seems to already rely heavily from the Chinese Duanju as its primary content and unless we can make the article more neutral in the sense to feature more international examples contributing to the article, we can always make a seperate article again later once there are more international examples, also checked there is already a Chinese wiki version here if anyone needs more context to decide.Lorraine Crane (talk) 03:04, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
  • Comment: "microdrama" or "short drama" are more of a general term that has existed for some time, while "Duanju" refers to a specific form of vertical-screen drama.Iuliusnanus (talk) 02:52, 23 April 2026 (UTC)
The Microdrama article starts with "A microdrama is a form of serialized short-form online video entertainment that originated in China, where it is known as duanju". The articles in their current format are talking about exactly the same thing. Asamboi (talk) 03:13, 23 April 2026 (UTC)

Redirect Microdrama to Duanju (a KEEP vote for Duanju). This is a Chinese phenomenon which should be recognized by its Chinese name. Creating an article for an English language cognate and then seeing to redirect to that cognate article seems to be getting things backwards. As @Iuliusnanus says there's only incomplete overlap with microdrama.
Aside from that, the microdrama article seems fishy to me. It was created by a temp account whose first edit was to paste in 22k of text into Microdrama (over redirect) with edit summary "removed redirect". GPTZero gives it a 91% score, and Earwig's Copyvio Detector shows some copyvio apparently of phrases not paragraphs (which could be LLM's doing). Oblivy (talk) 11:26, 2 May 2026 (UTC)

Yes, the "Restoration of Taiwan Strait shipping" article contains only the preface of 52 words (304 characters) with 1 reference, while missing the background and aftermath chapters, hence can hardly stand alone even for an one-time sail introduction. It is indeed a better idea to be integrated into the "Guanbi policy" article to solve the tagged existing issues and easier for the viewers to see the big picture on the historical timeline.--Mickie-Mickie (talk) 18:46, 16 April 2026 (UTC)

With some promotional content, I think the article fails to demonstrate the subject’s notability. Many of the references are from universities, and some even lead to admissions pages, which cannot be considered secondary sources. Thus, I think it fails WP:NORG. Subject is hardly notable and the vast majority of this article seems to appear as if it were a personal site for the subject in question. Most of the references are in foreign languages, and in my view do not establish notability outside of her local area. The mississauga source merely mentions her only in the caption of the image, and I believe the rest of the sources here are similar. Not to mention most of the links here are not in English. Plasticwonder (Cat got your tongue?) 05:20, 1 May 2026 (UTC)

  • Keep per the significant coverage in multiple independent reliable sources. The subject passes Wikipedia:Notability (people)#Basic criteria, which says:

People are presumed notable if they have received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject.

    • If the depth of coverage in any given source is not substantial, then multiple independent sources may be combined to demonstrate notability; trivial coverage of a subject by secondary sources is not usually sufficient to establish notability.

I propose merging to Italian brainrot because sufficient independent material to justify a separate page does not exist. A section for this character already exists at the target article, and the current page largely duplicates or fragments that content without providing enough additional, well-sourced material to justify a separate article. Also, the 'Appearances' section also gives undue weight to routine or trivial mentions, which would be more appropriately summarised, if at all, within the main article. Seems to be a WP:LLMT of a page somewhere else likely in Japanese. Includes improbable dates in the referencing code "Retrieved October 7, 2023" for a page created in 2026 suggesting that the references have not been checked before being added. (Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

Seems to be a WP:LLMT of a page in some other language, likely Japanese. The referencing code includes improbable dates "Retrieved September 20, 2025" suggesting that at best the references have not been carefully checked by the person who added them and at worst the content is something knocked out by an LLM. JMWt (talk) 08:22, 3 May 2026 (UTC)

Keep: How is "Retrieved September 20, 2025" an improbable date? The Anime News Network article was posted on 19 Sep 2025 according to the URL so it's fairly reasonable that someone added it to an article the day after. The source was also found in the article Rent-A-Girlfriend season 4, so presumably an editor copy pasted the source from there to here, which isn't prohibited and certainly not a sign of AI use (I myself do that too). I also spot-checked the lead (removing the footnotes) and the plot summaries of a few episodes in a few AI checkers and none came up as AI generated. The article structure is also similar to those of the previous seasons of the show (one, two, three and four linked above). If there are concerns about source-to-text integrity due to translation, these can be solved via normal editing. Other than the alleged LLM use which does not seem to be the case here, I don't see any justification for deletion. S5A-0043🚎(Talk) 08:58, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
the page was created in 2026. JMWt (talk) 09:56, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
The rest of my comment addresses why that is not a concern. While the references have not been carefully checked by the person who added them is not ideal, it is not, in itself, a reason for deletion. S5A-0043🚎(Talk) 10:08, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
yes it is. WP:LLMT. It is not just "not ideal" it is unacceptable and undermines the basis of this whole encyclopedia. JMWt (talk) 10:12, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
The entirety of your argument rests on the allegation that this is an AI generated/translated article. I've already listed down reasons as to why I believe this is not AI generated. So far I've seen zero evidence from your side presenting evidence that can disprove my argument that "this is not AI generated", but rather short replies that do not address my entire argument. Unless you can do that I shouldn't have to waste my time explaining the same thing over and over again. And dragging "undermines the basis of this whole encyclopedia" into the picture is wholly unnecessary. S5A-0043🚎(Talk) 10:40, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
No. The argument is that it is likely to be an LLMT. I do not have to waste any time proving this to you, I have identified unacceptable practices which spread slop which you think is "not ideal".
If you want to take this page back to a draft and rewrite it because it is important to you that's absolutely fine. But it cannot stay in mainspace like this. JMWt (talk) 10:45, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
Comment Aren't these per-season articles redundant? We already have Rent-A-Girlfriend about the series as a whole that includes the music information, and List of Rent-A-Girlfriend episodes with a complete list of episodes. Given that it's a very long series I could see the justification for breaking up the list of episodes, but having everything in two places seems a bit silly... • Keep (article creator). I have rewritten and expanded the article after the nomination, including after the first delete comment. It now focuses on wartime policing and censorship of Surrealist activity, with material on arrests, confiscations, group renaming, self-restraint, and regional cases. I think this gives it a clearer scope apart from the broader movement-history article at Surrealism in Japan. I also broadened the sourcing beyond the 2024 catalogue. The article now uses the 1990 Nagoya City Art Museum catalogue, the J. Paul Getty Museum catalogue Japan's Modern Divide, Stojković's monograph, The International Encyclopedia of Surrealism, and Surrealism Beyond Borders, an exhibition catalogue from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Tate Modern. The 2024 catalogue itself is also from a three-museum exhibition project involving The Museum of Kyoto, Itabashi Art Museum, and Mie Prefectural Art Museum. With the added chronology and case table, I think the original concerns about scope and sourcing have been addressed. --Fontana2026 (talk) 15:15, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
Update from creator. I have made further edits in response to the nomination concerns. The article now includes pre-1941 publishing pressure and police monitoring. It also covers later wartime adaptation by art groups, pressure on exhibitions, and regional cases outside Tokyo. I added further museum sources and a national newspaper source, including material from the Itabashi Art Museum, the Nagoya City Art Museum annual report, and Mainichi Shimbun. The sourcing no longer rests mainly on the 2024 catalogue. I have also tried to keep the page focused on wartime policing and censorship. The general movement history remains at Surrealism in Japan. @N niyaz BHPetrol is not specifically mentioned in the NY Times article, nor is it mentioned in the "Energy News Bulletin" article. I cannot check the WSJ article because I do not have a subscription -- is it actually mentioned there, or is that WSJ article like the others, in that it focuses on BP selling Malaysian stakes & just indirectly refers to an unnamed Malaysian subsidiary? Why not have this redirect to BP and add a section to BP's article about this past subsidiary? (It seems like much of the content about this company, even what you shared above, is related to it's past connection to BP.)
Also, WP:NCORP lists some examples of "trivial coverage"... two of which are "capital transaction" and "expansions, acquisitions, mergers, sale, or closure of the business," which seem to describe the 3 articles you shared above (plus others in the article). Do any of these articles have non-trivial coverage BHPetrol, outside of routine coverage about capital investments and sales? Lots of companies have that type of coverage, but it doesn't necessarily make them notable. Chao Garden 🌱 (hi) 01:17, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
This article is also about BP Malaysia pre acquisition by Boustead Holdings. If BP Malaysia went bankrupt yes I'll add it at BP, but BHPetrol is the continuation of BP Malaysia. N niyaz (talk) 06:15, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
This entire article is about BP, except for the first sentence stating where BHPetrol is currently headquartered. Of the 9 sources currently in the article, none of them seem non-trivial.
1. Source 1 is BP's website.
2. Source 2 is one of the only sources not mainly focused on BP selling stakes, but it's about mergers and acquisitions, which is listed as an example in WP:NCORP as trivial coverage that doesn't counter toward notability.
3. Source 3 is a Bloomberg page with a one-sentence mention that the company exists.
4. Source 4 is about BP selling their stakes in their Malaysian subsidiary & doesn't mention BHPetrol or Boustead.
5. Source 5 is more merger / acquisition talk, following BP selling their stakes.
6. Source 6 is about BP selling their stakes. (Does it mention BHPetrol or Boustead at all?)
7.Source 7 is very short sales talk, again an example of trivial coverage.
8. Source 8 is mislabeled & leads to the same link as Source 7.
9. Source 9 is also mislabeled & leads to the same link as Source 7 (though the title indicates that it is also about BP, or what happened after BP sold their stake in their Malaysian subsidiary)
Could you help me understand which of these sources is considered non-trivial coverage to you? Because it all looks like trivial coverage to me: mergers/acquisitions, sales figures, and BP's divestment. Chao Garden 🌱 (hi) 12:50, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
It is in progress, so did you only read the NYT, WSJ and Energy News Bulletin out of the 10 links that I gave? Most Wikipedia articles are not built in a day. N niyaz (talk) 15:22, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
You need to stop discounting the fact that BHPetrol is a major petrol brand and notable entity in Malaysia. A quick Google search will show you all the things you need to know about BHPetrol, it is not that hard. N niyaz (talk) 15:24, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
I talked about the contents of 3 links you shared here, plus the links that were cited in the article at the time I wrote my comment.
Let's talk about the other links you shared in your initial comment in this thread:
1. First link from The Edge Malaysia talks about a partnership and contract with BHPetrol. This is a type of coverage listed as "trivial" in WP:NCORP, is it not? Specifically: "product or a product line launch, sale, change, or discontinuance"
2. Second link in talks about BHPetrol getting a "SIRIM certification license". Perhaps that is a significant award that doesn't fall into WP:NCORP's example of "non-notable awards received by the organization, its people, or products"?
3. Third link is about expansion and investment, is it not? Though maybe there's something notable about providing services to rural areas, specifically.
4. Fourth link describes the same expansion as link 3.
5. Fifth link from Edge Malaysia is about a hearing & some reporting related to a sale of shares of BHPetrol. Again, this seems like an example of trivial coverage listed in WP:NCORP, is it not?
6. Sixth link from Petrol Malaysia is an "article" without an author that pulls from BHPetrol's annual report -- again, an example of trivial coverage. A lot of it is marketing quotes pull directly from BHPetrol.
Also, to talk about the Bloomberg "article" in particular -- you mention in another comment: For the Bloomberg citation given, it was indexed in Google with the incorporation date of the company. Maybe you need an account with them to see it yourself, hope that helps. I'm not sure what this means? Lots of things are indexed by Google. For the Bloomberg source, we are talking about two sentences that describes the existence of this company. While this source can certainly be used to provide factual info, I don't think a two-sentence mention is considered "significant coverage" to determine notability, which was my point.
So to repeat my question in my last comment: could you help me understand which sources (of the ones listed here or cited in the article) are non-trivial coverage? Most of what I'm seeing could arguably be an example of trivial coverage pulled directly from the list of trivial examples in WP:NCORP -- sales, mergers, capital investment, expansion. And many of those articles, especially those in the article, are related to BP. The articles about the SIRIM certification and rural expansion could perhaps be considered significant, so maybe they don't fall into the realm of trivial? I'm interested in your reasoning (or others' opinions) about those topics in particular. I understand that there are many mentions of this company, but I'm trying to understand the significance of that coverage. Also, I'm striking my original opinion on this; while I still have questions, I don't feel strongly enough to keep going on like this.Chao Garden 🌱 (hi) 19:37, 14 April 2026 (UTC)

Lijil (talk) 17:18, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
Hi Lijil, thank you for taking the time to fix those sources.
The first source is a regional historical research paper on the Khilafat Movement in Sargodha, where Maulana Zahoor Ahmed Bugvi is not the main subject and is not given any dedicated biographical coverage. The second source discusses the history and architecture of the Sher Shah Suri Mosque and only mentions him in passing in a single line (“The Jamia Masjid of Bhera was later on repaired by Qazi Zahoor Ahmed Bugvi in 1926”), which does not provide sufficient biographical detail. The third source is a primary, self-published organisational website.
Overall, these sources do not provide significant independent coverage to establish notability. I would be happy if the article could be improved with reliable independent sources, but I have been unable to find such coverage. Phloxyte (talk) 19:50, 4 May 2026 (UTC)

Delete: You can't have a true rivalry if it's only happened since 2026. The article itself, considering what little text it contains, has a bit of WP:PUFFERY in it, namely the double use of "significant" and a "See also" that shockingly tries to sell the rivalry as being akin to India-Pakistan. -- JustJamie820 (talk) 23:52, 1 May 2026 (UTC)
I’m sorry, but I can’t believe that you think that just because a rivalry started recently, it can’t be a rivalry. How silly is that? A rivalry is a rivalry, two teams from the same area competing against each other to win. That’s literally the definition of the word given on Wikipedia! The double use of the word significant really does catch your eye, but only in one instance is it referring to the rivalry, the other being the cities’ importance and hence why there is a rivalry to begin with. And you make quite a ludicrous inference that because the See Also section has an India-Pakistan rivalry link, it’s akin to that? It just happens to be there because that’s also a rivalry, and these are 2 domestic Pakistani teams. What, are you going to go and delete the Karachi Kings-Lahore Qalandars rivalry page too? As that also has the same thing there as well under its See Also section. XXSniperXX12 (talk) 01:02, 2 May 2026 (UTC)
Playing against each other in a single season doesn't qualify as a true rivalry just because of the marketings; even if so not all rivalries are notable to have a Wikipedia article. Vestrian24Bio 05:33, 2 May 2026 (UTC)

This article is almost certainly LLM-generated and includes several hallmarks of LLM composition, including numerous places where the article states conclusions not in the cited sources. As one example, I reviewed the sources (, ) for the graf reading Football holds a singular position in Lyari's social and cultural life. In a district defined by economic marginalisation, and a historically tense relationship with state authorities, the game has long served as a vehicle for collective pride and self-expression. Football has been widely identified by community organisations, journalists, and youth workers as a constructive force in a district that has experienced high rates of poverty and exposure to criminal networks. Local coaches and youth organisers have described the game as a means by which young men are drawn away from negative influences and channelled into communal and competitive activity. This passage makes sweeping claims not supported by the sources. The sources do not indicate a singular position for football in Lyari, just that it is "a big hit". Each source quotes one coach who makes the claims attributed to "local coaches". The second source quotes a single youth social worker, not the multiples of those individuals indicated by the prose. Neither source indicates journalists describing football as a constructive force. Neither source says anything about pride or self-expression. I reviewed other paragraphs and found similar problems with source-text integrity. While it's not at the level of a G15 speedy deletion, the article cannot be salvaged without a volunteer-time-intensive manual review of every source and claim, and thus should be deleted per WP:TNT and WP:NOLLM, with no prejudice against a human-written article on this topic in the future. • Merge to Lyari#Sports and/or Football in Pakistan. The article is not unsourced; it cites Reuters, Dawn, Al Jazeera, Arab News and others, and the topic clearly has some real-world coverage. But I agree the current prose overreaches in places and should not be kept as-is. Merge the clearly verified material, with no prejudice against a clean standalone article later.Umais🗣 06:06, 28 April 2026 (UTC)
Are you going to be the one who goes through and examines every line to be sure it aligns with the source? It's already shown that the sources don't back up multiple claims in this article. LLM-generated text produces significantly higher verification burdens for our volunteers, which is why generated articles like this using LLMs is now banned. It would be much better to start over with fresh text using the available sources than to merge any of this stuff. Dclemens1971 (talk) 11:38, 28 April 2026 (UTC)
@Dclemens1971: Hi. Thank you for bringing up this issue. While spotchecking during the DYK review, I checked every source and majorly found them backing claims within the article using some specific keywords only. You may also see in page history that I tried copyediting a little bit. But really sorry, I could not figure out every problematic text at that time, which is my mistake. You may be right that there should be phrasing issues and the article needs a complete rewrite, but I believe it does not mean that the article is unsourced. Currently, it complies WP:INLINE and a rewrite using these very references within the same article structure should work. Not commenting on the AfD part, but I may comment on the DYK part that a reminder ping should have been given to the reviewer (me) before going to close/reject. This previously happened at the DYK review of the article Populus Denver. Any way, thank you again. M. Billoo 13:05, 28 April 2026 (UTC)
I never said it was unsourced, and that is not the ground for why it should be deleted. It is adequately sourced, but the sources do not support the text during any of my spotchecks, and this is a significant problem with LLM-generated prose, which this is. The grounds for deletion are WP:NOLLM and WP:TNT. Dclemens1971 (talk) 13:06, 28 April 2026 (UTC)

Khaja had a poorly sourced claim in the lead that it was called pheni. One of the references failed verification, and the other came from a dubious journal. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 05:53, 23 April 2026 (UTC)
On a deeper search, I found this TOI article besides this, this and some Reddit strings, which confirm that Khaja is also known as Pheni in Odisha. So......Khaja is completely different from this Pheni but Khaja is also known as Pheni in this one Indian state of Odisha.
I had misjudged earlier. The disambiguation is required, indeed. So, I guess we can add the word "Pheni" back to the lead of Khaja along with the found TOI reference and hence, keep this disambiguation page.
    .
There's another option - we can delete this disambiguation page and a line "It is also known as Pheni in Odisha" to the lead of Khaja, cuz after all, it's not the WP:COMMONNAME and is used in one state only. I personally prefer this second approach. @LaundryPizza03 Which one do you think could be the best option? BhikhariInformer (talk) 07:08, 23 April 2026 (UTC)

Sara Duterte 2028 presidential campaign

Sara Duterte 2028 presidential campaign (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

The article “Sara Duterte 2028 presidential campaign” does not merit inclusion at this time because it is based solely on a declaration of intent rather than an official, verifiable candidacy. No certificate of candidacy has been filed with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), and the 2028 election period has not formally begun. Without official recognition, there are no measurable or documented campaign activities that can be substantiated through reliable sources. Retaining the article risks misleading readers by presenting an unconfirmed candidacy as an established campaign, which undermines neutrality and accuracy. The subject can be properly covered once candidacy is formally filed and verifiable coverage exists, ensuring that the article is timely, relevant, and consistent with Wikipedia’s standards of verifiability and notability. Enzoeditwikicom (talk) 07:46, 30 April 2026 (UTC)

Oppose WP:OFFICIAL relates to "official names", but you could argue it can extend to anything denoting "officialness". Duterte herself announced her candidacy. Article has 39 references of this happening. What "unconfirmed candidacy" are we talking about? She herself announced it and was covered by WP:RS. What's this? Post-truth? We are not bound by legalistic interpretation of law (e.g. what "forthwith" means). Ronald dela Rosa and Bong Go 2022 presidential campaigns exist without never "officially campaigning" themselves. Howard the Duck (talk) 10:14, 30 April 2026 (UTC)
Comment: No opinions on the article's notability but I have a hunch that the opening statement, with phrases such as no measurable or documented campaign activities that can be substantiated through reliable sources and ensuring that the article is timely, relevant, and consistent, was AI generated. (If that hunch turns out to be wrong I'm happy to retract this comment later.) S5A-0043🚎(Talk) 12:54, 30 April 2026 (UTC)
Seconded, putting it through Copyleaks and GPTZero result in 100% AI probabilities. Also the first sentence is almost textbook "not this but that" AI writing. Wreaderick (talk) 18:26, 30 April 2026 (UTC)
We strikeout !votes that are AI generated. What happens if the nomination is at least partially AI generated? Howard the Duck (talk) 18:29, 30 April 2026 (UTC)
  • Keep per Howard the Duck. Relevant to have an article for a campaign if it has been covered well enough and the article itself adds more than simply mentioning it at the main page would. Yoblyblob (Talk) :) 19:32, 30 April 2026 (UTC)
  • Keep the nomination is faulty. There is no hard rule or policy that an official campaign period must have commenced. If the nominator can at least point to a specific policy that supports this rationale then great. Again as I mentioned there are roughly 16 citations (discounting the endorsements). This has been widely covered by the media. This is NOT speculative. Sara Duterte herself have declared her intention to run for president in 2028. No documented campaign activities is categorically false. Selection of her vice president candidate and Senatorial slate formation are de facto campaign activities reported by the media. These are public and documented by the media. The media have also noted the current impeachment efforts potential impact to derail the presidential bid. Also saying that the existence of this article derails "neutrality" and "accuracy" is misguided and disingenous. WP:GNG does not care if its a politician you like or not. The fact is the Duterte campaign is in motion regardless of the official Comelec start of campaign period. This is NOT a unconfirmed candidacy in a colloquial sense Hariboneagle927 (talk) 01:49, 1 May 2026 (UTC)
  • Keep: per above. Scoria (talk) 06:02, 2 May 2026 (UTC)

Mayhem promotional concerts

Mayhem promotional concerts (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

Since the previous discussion was closed as no-consensus, I thought I would renominate this article for merging to The Mayhem Ball for WP:OVERLAP. Per WP:PAGEDECIDE we should not have two separate articles on subjects this closely related. Most readers would be better served by the merged article instead of needing to read through both articles to find what they're looking for. In the previous discussion some arguments for the separate articles made gestures towards PAGEDECIDE without naming it; however, in my reading of those arguments, they came across as WP:FANCRUFT and WP:ILIKEIT, and I think the argument per PAGEDECIDE goes toward the merge not toward the status quo.
It has been suggested in the discussion below that both the nominated article and the proposed destination article should both be merged to The Art of Personal Chaos, which is currently a disambiguation page for these two articles. Considering that we're still working out the details of the PAM-AfD merge and such a nomination would have been possible under the old PAM system I personally think its ok to have that discussion here. However it also makes sense if editors prefer having the move discussion in a subsequent WP:RM. I would support that version of the merge as well ScrubbedFalcon (talk) 22:30, 2 May 2026 (UTC)

  • i agree, the pages should be merged for WP:OVERLAP Per WP:PAGEDECIDE and since Pollstar reports all 92 concerts as a single tour with $418.4M as the gross revenue figure and 1.95 million as the attendance figure , numbers only possible with all ticketed concerts being count on the same tour, it gives even more validity to the merger of the two pages, readers would benefit from having a single page giving all the information about the concerts other than being split between the current two pages. ~2026-24877-68 (talk) 23:28, 2 May 2026 (UTC)
Once again you are being selective with quoting. The Pollstar article you are referencing states:
"With worldwide grosses totaling $418.4 million from 1.95 million sold tickets during the official run of the tour – July 16, 2025 through April 13, 2026, along with her earlier promotional concerts following the album release in March of 2025"
https://news.pollstar.com/2026/04/17/lady-gaga-tops-1-billion-in-career-grosses-with-the-mayhem-ball-tour/
This directly contradicts the repeated "single tour" claims made by many who are in favour of merging the articles.
Similarly, the Billboard article states:
Gaga’s 2025-26 totals break into two main categories. The Mayhem Ball ($362.9 million; 1.6 million tickets), her seventh proper tour, began on July 16, 2025 in Las Vegas and ran through North America, Europe, Australia, and Japan before closing at Madison Square Garden on Monday.
And later on in the article:
"The Mayhem Ball began in North America, with 27 arena shows across eight major markets."
https://www.billboard.com/pro/lady-gaga-mayhem-biggest-tour-career-400-million/
Merging the two articles would not alter the fact that "The Mayhem Ball" itself began on 16 July 2025, ended on 13 April 2026 and grossed $362.9 million.
In the event of a merge, the individual grosses for the separate promotional shows that took place in Mexico and Singapore before the tour commenced (totalling $56.6 million) would need to be listed separately within the body of the article and not included in the 'Box Office' total towards the top of the page. Strawberry1994 (talk) 01:27, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
As I look back the previous discussion, you ~2026-24877-68 keep WP:Bludgeoning the entire discussion. Please hold back from doing so. ALittleButterfly15 (talk) 05:56, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
  • Not merge. I'd say this is pretty similar to how one-off concerts have separate articles (e.g.: ArtRave and ArtRave: The Artpop Ball). Plus, the shows at Coachella and Todo Mundo no Rio are notable, different and culturally significant enough to meet WP:EVENTCRITERIA. ALittleButterfly15 (talk) 06:21, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
  • Support merge under The Art of Personal Chaos. The tour is a revised version of the same show that is covered in the promotional concerts article, causing quite a lot of overlap. Both the promo concerts and the tour's shows share the same in-concert title, general storyline, the majority of the set list and the visuals. I find it misleading when this situation is compared to ArtRave vs. ArtRave: The Artpop Ball, or the Dive Bar Tour vs. the Joanne World Tour. In those cases, the shows were fundamentally different in purpose, scale, creative direction, staging, and structure, and were never intended as two phases of the same production. --Sricsi (talk) 10:29, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
Under the old PAM process it would have been easier to discuss both the merge and the move at the same time. We're still working on ways to support that here. For the time being I think it makes sense to go ahead with the merge nomination and then open a WP:RM after the merge is completed (unless the closer feels comfortable addressing the move consensus in this discussion). I have no objection to the proposed move as the nom. ScrubbedFalcon (talk) 14:48, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
The pre-tour shows (Coachella, Rio, Singapore, Mexico) were not promoted as part of The Mayhem Ball—that branding only came later. So if a merge is pursued, it only really makes sense under the broader umbrella term, The Art of Personal Chaos, which was the in-concert title used consistently across both the early promotional dates and the later tour shows. That would avoid implying that those early shows were part of the "proper" Mayhem Ball, which they were not.
If using the umbrella title requires a second step via WP:RM, that's fine—those processes can be sequential. But a merge under The Mayhem Ball alone would misrepresent how these events were actually marketed and structured. Sricsi (talk) 15:04, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
Fair enough, I'm also all for Wikipedia not being a bureaucracy and making things needlessly complicated for ourselves. As I said, under the old PAM system it would have been much easier to propose the merger of two articles to a third article (in this case The Art of Personal Chaos is currently a disambiguation page for these two articles). I won't change this to some strange ad-hoc bundled nomination now, but hopefully if other editors see this they can chime in on it here instead of in a subsequent discussion. ScrubbedFalcon (talk) 15:14, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
  • Support per nominator's rationale, too closely related. FaviFake (talk) 14:10, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
  • Merge is the only logical conclusion when following the methodology of the primary source, as Pollstar explicitly treats the promotional dates and the official leg as a single statistical unit for The Mayhem Ball:
Unified Statistical Data: Pollstar calculates the tour’s average ticket price of $214.30 by specifically including "all 92 of her reported concerts since her album was released last year". This mathematical average is only possible by merging the 6 ticketed promotional shows in Mexico and Singapore with the 86 shows of the official run.
Consolidated Financial Reporting: The $418.4 million total gross, which the article attributes to the success of "The Mayhem Ball," is a consolidated figure that includes both the "official run of the tour" and the "earlier promotional concerts".
Career Milestone Attribution: The headline explicitly credits the achievement of $1 billion in career grosses to "The Mayhem Ball Tour". Furthermore, Pollstar states that her career total jumped to $1.17 billion specifically "with the completion of 'The Mayhem Ball'".
Official Touring Schedule: The article identifies the Singapore stadium performances as the highest ticket counts "among all the stadiums that appeared on Lady Gaga's touring schedule during the past year". This confirms that Pollstar classifies these dates within the tour's overarching schedule.
Verifiability: Per standard editorial guidelines, we must prioritize the published, verifiable content of the source over private correspondence. The published text consistently aggregates these dates to define the scope and success of The Mayhem Ball.
Separating these figures would be a misinterpretation of the source, which has already performed the merger to establish the tour's official records.

Yeah, I have no idea either. @Doczilla @Randykitty, ust letting you know in case you missed it, even merge nominations without any comments can now be closed as WP:SOFTMERGE without any relist necessary. Only WP:SOFTDELETE closures require at least one relist. But this one has multiple supports so idk what's going on. FaviFake (talk) 16:15, 4 May 2026 (UTC)

Company not reaching WP:NCORP, but with a suitable alternative to deletion at Helminthic therapy; hence merge. Much of the article is on this approach anyway, and the company history can help to delineate the history of the commercialization of this product. Klbrain (talk) 09:48, 22 April 2026 (UTC)

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.

  • Keep: per WP:HEY. Thanks to Jahaza for improving the article. BhikhariInformer (talk) 03:27, 5 May 2026 (UTC)

Comment on the talk pages of the articles, not here. If you agree with the proposed deletion, you don't have to do anything. If you think the article merits keeping, then remove the {{prod}} template and make an effort to improve the article so that it clearly meets the notability and verifiability criteria.
