Request for assistance: Documenting Capitol Lunch (est. 1929) and New Britain's culinary history

Hello WikiProject Connecticut,

I am writing to request guidance or assistance from an independent editor in documenting Capitol Lunch, a family-owned restaurant that has operated in New Britain since 1929.

As the third-generation owner, I recognize my conflict of interest (COI) and want to follow Wikipedia’s guidelines by requesting that a neutral editor review our history for potential inclusion. Capitol Lunch is a 97-year-old institution and a central part of New Britain's identity as the "Hot Dog Capital of Connecticut."

Key Historical Points:

  • Founded: 1929 by Peter and Sophia Lampros; later operated by Art Unaris and Nick Sangeloty.
  • Cultural Significance: Recognized by Hearst Media/CT Insider and FOX61 as a "Connecticut Institution." Also named #1 hot dog in Connecticut by a Channel 3 statewide poll.
  • Heritage: The restaurant’s history is tied to the Greek-American immigration story in New Britain.

Reliable Sources for Notability:

I also have high-resolution historical photographs of the original storefront to illustrate the city's commercial history.

Would anyone be interested in helping draft a standalone page or expanding the New Britain article to include this history?

Thank you for your time and for preserving Connecticut's history.

Wikipedia:Destubathon of the Americas

Project members are invited to participate in the Destubathon of the Americas, a contest/editathon which will run from May 1 to May 31. The goal is to destub as many of our 475,000+ stubs for the Americas (from Alaska down to Chile) as possible. A good chance to have fun in expanding many of our old stale stubs and win up to $2680 in Amazon vouchers for expanding stub articles. Sign up in the Contestants/participants section on the contest page if interested. Even if not interested in prizes you are still warmly welcome to participate in it as an editathon! Hopefully we can achieve something significant in the month of May together! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:06, 14 April 2026 (UTC)

Capitol Lunch follow up

Following up on this request. I have recently been coordinating with editors on the main New Britain page to document the city's 'Hot Dog Capital' status. Given the 97-year history of the establishment and its role in the city's Greek-American heritage, I am still hoping to find an independent editor interested in helping draft a standalone article to preserve this history. I have several high-resolution archival photos from the 1950s ready to contribute to Wikimedia Commons as well. Any guidance would be appreciated!
