Discussion about WikiProject banner templates

For WikiProjects that participate in rating articles, the banners for talk pages usually say something like:

There is a proposal to change the default wording on the banners to say "priority" instead of "importance". This could affect the template for your group. Please join the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Council#Proposal to update wording on WikiProject banners. Adoption of Wikipedia:"Murder of" articles as this WikiProject's advice page

Should Wikipedia:"Murder of" articles be adopted as this WikiProject's advice page on the Wikipedia:Article titles and Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons policies (and, to a lesser degree, the Wikipedia:Notability guideline), as pertaining to topics within the WikiProject's area of interest?

For those who may not know what advice pages are, this is explained in the guideline Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Guide#Advice pages. An example of an advice page is Wikipedia:WikiProject Anthroponymy/Style advice. An advice pages may be placed as a subpage of its WikiProject page, but this is not necessary, as seen with Wikipedia:Signs of AI writing.

If it is adopted, the page will be/remain tagged using {{WikiProject advice}} as seen in the following revision: Special:PermanentLink/1334745337. (What exact wording to put in the tag can be dealt with later, if any change is desired.)

If it is not adopted, it will be tagged using {{Essay}}.

I think tagging as advice is appropriate as it reads more as advice and as an essay IMO Ktkvtsh (talk) 14:38, 25 January 2026 (UTC)
I have never liked that essay. It's closest to this project in scope but much of its guidance is not community approved or WikiProject approved.
But I guess that doesn't really make it not advice. I would tag it as essay. PARAKANYAA (talk) 21:52, 25 January 2026 (UTC)
@PARAKANYAA The essay intends not to conflict with Wikipedia:Choosing article titles about violence and deaths. For a version (real or imagined) of Wikipedia:"Murder of" articles that objectively does not conflict with Wikipedia:Choosing article titles about violence and deaths, would you also say that said version is not community approved? —Alalch E. 13:41, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
I'm referring to its other guidance. Its guidance on naming is fine. PARAKANYAA (talk) 18:28, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
I'm interested in removing the other guidance that is not about naming. Such as the section Wikipedia:"Murder of" articles#Some factors that may make a murderer or murder case notable, which is not why the page is getting cited. —Alalch E. 20:10, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
I think it would be useful to have a guide for what cases are probably going to be notable but I am not sure I agree with what is there.
In any case I take no issue with the naming part of the guideline so if that's why you want to put it with this project, sure, sounds like a good idea. PARAKANYAA (talk) 20:19, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

Discussion at Talk:Upiór § Merge proposal into Vampire

You are invited to join the discussion at Talk:Upiór § Merge proposal into Vampire, which is within the scope of this WikiProject. I've proposed either merging Upiór into Vampire or splitting Vampire to create Vampires in folklore and merging Upiór into the latter. Your input would be appreciated. – Scyrme (talk) 01:14, 22 February 2026 (UTC)
